- GeoDepths 1 Year Anniversary - 20 October 2024
One year ago today I released my first game on Steam. But it wasn't as simple as that, there was one and a half years of development prior, as well as another half year of post release content. So to celebrate the one year anniversary of my game, I thought it would be nice to look back at its two year development journey, from a simple prototype, to the game I'm proud of now. I have the full development journey in the form of dev logs on YouTube, if you would like to see it in detail, but I'll provide an overview here. Dev Log Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOmypIsKoxbXpnwWbWQSDIiaHxRNlIwC7 Idea Conception Before GeoDepths, I was working on many different game projects. All centered around core gameplay ideas. Really just practicing elements of game development. Naturally, the games I play influenced the game concepts that I wanted to develop, which drove my game devel…
- Elevator Warp Demo - 8 June 2024
Hi all! My next game, Elevator Warp, now has it's demo available for you all to try. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2803900/Elevator_Warp/ Elevator Warp is a puzzle and exploration game, centered around an elevator that can take you to all sorts of places. A hotel, dungeon, hedge maze, train, and many other unexpected locations. You must travel from floor 1 to 6, working out if each floor is valid or not. If a floor is not valid, you must press the emergency button and don't continue up, or you have to start all over again! How do you know if a floor is valid? If the elevator says you should be on a certain floor number, say floor 3, then any indication that you are actually on a floor of a different number is invalid! A floor will have numerical clues, and you must find and check each one before moving on to the next floor. These clues could be a written number on the wall or the n…
- Patch #1 - 1.2.152 - 24 April 2024
Change Log Made Mantorite spawn closer to the centre of the depth 3 map. This should stop players from getting stuck on this level with no drillable Mantorite, which is required to gain the next level of drill upgrades. (Won't effect existing saves, due to resource spawning occurring at the time of starting a new game) Made the PDA log read status get flagged as soon as you see the log, rather than just when you switch to the next log.

- Update 1.2 Preview - Machines and Decoration - 14 April 2024
Here's a preview of the new machines, tech, and decoration items added in update 1.2 Map Table This new map table can be used to view each depth level, highlighting where all the caves are. It can show you which caves you have not visited, as well as listing all the scannables and collectables that you have found in them. No longer will you have to scour them one by one to find that last geoworm or drill tech that you missed on your first exploration, in order to 100% the game. Auto Driller This is a high powered machine that sends a drilling drone down to find a select resource type. It doesn't completely replace manual drilling and mining, but it's nice when you need just a little more resource to complete an upgrade or build. They require a lot of power to keep running, so you'll need to upgrade your power generation capabilities if you want several of these going at the same time. A…
- Update 1.2 Preview - New Depths - 7 April 2024
Hi all! Update 1.2, Deeper, will be releasing in full on the 19th of April, just under two weeks away. It's also available on the experimental branch on Steam right now, if you want to help test it, or just can't wait. For accessing the experimental branch just go into the games steam settings to switch the active branch to experimental. If you find any bugs or issues whilst trying it out, let me know about it on the discord server. I'll be releasing a couple of Steam news update 1.2 previews so you know what to expect for the update, like what I did with 1.1. Lets start off with the new depth levels. Expanded 800m Depth Level I have converted the existing 800m depth level into a fully mineable level, with the addition of new caves, scannables, collectables, and resources. This depth level has a frosty theme, with cold and frigid caves, supporting only the toughest of plant life. There…

Join the discord to send any feedback or bug reports. Check out the dev log to see all the changes. Detailed Change Log New Unstable Passages that lead to new underground maps containing resources. These passages can only be traversed through and back once, but more will spawn around the main map. (Also a new set of resources that can only be found in these temporary maps) Drill offloading is now automatic. Overhauled item pickup/drop system to allow items to be placed down on surfaces. Can create any number of the alien artifacts (they can be used as decoration now if you like). Created Item Dispenser which can print and dispense decorational items (Including resources). Changed up the interior of the drill, allowi…
- Update 1.1 Preview - Drilling Improvements - 30 December 2023
Hi all! Firstly, Update 1 (version 1.1) is available to try out in the experimental branch of the game! Just go into the games steam settings to switch to experimental. It will remain just in the experimental branch for a week or two until I can confirm it's stable. If you find any bugs or issues whilst trying it out, let me know about it on the discord server. This week I'll show you the improvements I have made to the drill as a whole, as well as the new unstable passages that can be found. Revamped Drill Interior With the addition of decorational items I just had to allow them to be placed in the drill, so I changed up part of its interior to allow for this. I added a long bench, and a couple smaller ones, where items can be placed. I also removed the artifacts cabinet that was there before, as they can just be placed on the bench now. Expanded Drill Screen The docking screen in the…
- Update 1.1 Preview - Refinery, Generator, and Research Improvements - 23 December 2023
Hi all! This week I'll show off the new Refinery and Generator enhancement upgrades, to allow autoloading, autofilling, and overclocking, as well as the changes I have made to the research system. Refinery and Generator Enhancements I have added research items to unlock more advanced refinery and generator functionalities. Both the basic and alloy refineries can have autoload activated on them, which will automatically load the currently selected resources when they are available and refine them, rather than having to tell each refinery to start manually. These refineries can also have overclock activated, which will reduce how much time they need to refine, but will also increase how much power they require. Similar to autoload, the generators have been given the autofill enhancement, allowing them to automatically fill up on the fuel they use when activated. These enhancement function…
- Update 1.1 Preview - Base Building Improvements - 16 December 2023
Hi all! This week I'll show off the various additions and improvements to the base building in GeoDepths, to be included in the first update. Room Types Firstly I have added two new room styles to the game, alongside the default room style, to give base building more variability. Using the new Industrial room style you can create rooms to contain refineries and other machines. The new Quarters room style is more homely and can be used to house bed and lounge areas of your base. When building a room now, there is the choice between which ever room styles you have unlocked, and you can also switch existing rooms between the styles. Empty Shelves and Podiums To be able to better decorate your base using the new decorational items, I have included more buildables to be able to hold them. I have included an empty variant of the standing and wall shelves, as well as a podium. Here's the previ…
- Update 1.1 Preview - Decorational Items - 9 December 2023
Hi all! For each of the following weeks leading up to the release of Update 1 for my game GeoDepths, I will be showing off what I have been working on, giving you more insight into what to expect. For the first week I'll be showing off this new item printing/dispensing system. This is something that I had in mind for the full release, but never got around to implementing it. So it was one of the first things that I worked on for this post release update. The Item Dispenser Using the Item Dispenser you can select many different models, figurines and terrariums to 3D print. Once printed they can be picked up and put down on any surface. Some are animated, like the Newton's Cradle, and some require cave plants to be scanned to be unlocked, such as each of the terrariums. All these items and resources can be placed back into the Item Dispenser, in order to recycle them, allowing you to chan…
- GeoDepths Post Release Updates Plan - 10 November 2023
First of all a huge thanks to all those that have played and given feedback for my game GeoDepths! It's been a crazy experience releasing my first game. You've all been amazing! I initially didn't intend on doing any post release content. I was excited to reach the finish line of the development journey of my first game, and was looking forward to starting the next one. But as more and more people played the game, and provided great feedback, I was eventually inspired enough to look at adding more to the game. So since then I have been collecting ideas of what I could do, which will be both feasible and impactful. The changes and additions would have to complement the existing game, without requiring me to spend another year rewriting how everything works. So I came up with enough ideas that I liked, which could then be separated into two camps. Those that expanded the current game, and…
- Patch #5 - 1.0.131 - 31 October 2023
Change Log Fixed the misty cave not being properly misty sometimes. Improved drill autopilot to favour already dug tunnels.
- Patch #4 - 1.0.130 - 28 October 2023
Change Log Improved drill drilling to work better when FPS drops. This should fix the many reported issues with the drill getting stuck, or jumping through the rock and only drilling parts of it. Fixed refineries potentially getting stuck on game load. Made the ore scanner blips less annoying by reducing their volume based on how far the ore is from the drill. Fixed a place in a cave where players could jump into the void. Added an autosaving prompt that shows on screen when autosaving. Mainly so that players know why the game pauses when undocking sometimes.
- Patch #3 - 1.0.129 - 22 October 2023
Change Log Increased default joystick deadzone, and added a setting to adjust it.
- Patch #2 - 1.0.128 - 22 October 2023
Change Log Fixed a problem with some players not being able to mine at depth level 400m. Changed the default FPS limit to 100 instead of being uncapped so the game doesn't melt players GPUs. (This won't affect existing players as your settings are already configured. If you are finding your GPU is running overdrive just set the Max FPS in the settings.)
- Patch #1 - 1.0.126 - 21 October 2023
Change Log Added a FOV slider to the settings. Allowed controller B/O button to stop the autopilot. Fixed VSync not staying on when game is restarted. Fixed some missing colliders.
- It's Mining Time: GeoDepths Is Out Now! - 20 October 2023
I embarked on the GeoDepths adventure back in April 2022, initially as a humble hobby project. The idea was simple: a game where players delve deep into the earth, mining ores, all while managing a drill ship. Fast forward to today, and I'm thrilled to unveil what GeoDepths has become. This marks my first published game on Steam, and it's been an exhilarating journey, and I'm super excited for the next game. For a behind-the-scenes look at the development process of GeoDepths, you can find my dev logs on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@alittlemoregames/. Be sure to subscribe to catch the future dev logs for my next game. For those who've had a taste of the demo, the full game promises a fresh and enriched experience. It features new resources and construction options, additional depth levels to explore, completely remade caves, and story and lore discoveries hidden deep bel…
