- Nothing Beyond This Point is OUT NOW! - 24 March 2026
Hello everyone! My second game, Nothing Beyond This Point, has just released!!It's not a Roguelike at all - instead, it's a top-down twin stick shooter Metroidvania, but it's just as strange and offbeat as Full Gear. And a lot better in every aspect - art, music, story, polish! Go check it out, it's very good and very affordable.Featuring:A novel, strange, and aggressive combat system: infinite regeneration, but your health is your damage16 areas with 12 big bosses, plus more if you look closelyMany Sigils, items, abilities, and ability upgrades to collectTons of weird gimmicks to deal with - wind, frost, rain, tentacles?Elaborate maps with automatic and custom markersAn intriguing and easy to follow storyAn almost 2-hour long original soundtrack!Good luck! And uh... don't get lost.-Dieuwt
- Full Gear v3.0.4 - 23 January 2025
Tiny tiny tiny update to fix some apparently weirdly common issues. Did you wishlist Nothing Beyond This Point yet? Anyway. v3.0.4 The game now uses an updated version of the engine. This should not change very much, of course, but if any small issues arise... you know why. Changed: Reapers no longer spawn when under 3 curse. Why would they even care about you? Changed: By default, the game now always auto-saves (used to be prompt) Fixed: crash when quickslotting/using an energy-free gadget with Car Cables Fixed: the Designer's conversation didn't end properly Fixed: Bosses can no longer walk through Powerfields. Honestly, I don't know why they ever could. They can still walk through Forcefields. See you around. v3.0.5Turns out the new engine caused minimal, but not zero issues. Oops!Fixed: crash when loading some games Fixed: Aerospace statues could lock you out
- Next game, Nothing Beyond This Point: coming to Next Fest, February 2025! - 7 January 2025
Hi everyone! Great news: my next game, Nothing Beyond This Point is coming to Steam Next Fest in February 2025! The demo will release on February 24th, be sure to grab it and see what it's all about. Wow! I look great today. Nothing Beyond This Point is a unique take on the Metroidvania genre. You play as an entity made from pure fire, who uses Rods, Runes and Sigils to survive in the endless Void. Navigation is key, as the game will not easily tell you where to go, so pay attention to all the help that is available - waypoints, enemies, and helpful passerby's. Secrets are everywhere, so find them to become stronger and tackle increasingly powerful corrupted enemies. But don't be fooled: the Void is extremely empty, and wants you gone as well. The demo is quite expansive: three areas, a full boss, four items, and so on. You can freely explore and play with how your inferno fights, or ju…
- New epic game in the works! - 3 November 2024
Hi everyone! I'll get straight to the point. After a short while of getting my ducks in a row, I've started development on a new game: "Nothing Beyond This Point"! It's not exactly a roguelike - really just a metroidvania, but also not quite. It's its own thing! It's got adventure, wide appeal, fun times and a good story. All the works. It's very much in early development, though, so keep an eye on the store page! https://i.imgur.com/HgwEEKO.png Find the Steam page here! Please wishlist it and share it around, it greatly boosts visibility and helps morale and all that. It will be a cheaper game (probably 5 dollars), but not shorter per se. When it releases, I'll most likely also discount Full Gear as it'll fall into the outdated category already. The plan is as following: Release a demo at Steam Next Fest in Feburary 2024 Hopefully get some buzz and press Work steadily on improving stuf…
- Full Gear v3.0.2 - 14 September 2024
Stealth update that fixes some things that bothered me. No biggie. Full Gear is signed up for Turn-Based RPG fest, so I want to have it up to code. There's a new feature, though! v3.0.2 Added: the Storage. One Mechanical Storage will spawn next to a random Tunnel Device in the Kernel. It will hold 36 items of any type. Anything. Throw your spare equipment in there! Of course, they're inaccessible if you're stuck in any other area. They are visible on the map as well! So relax. And when you save your game, your items stay intact. Added: you can now switch between four title themes Standard, Half Moon, Two Bolts, and the final boss. Naturally, these themes are locked until you see their respective content. Added: sounds/particles when moving Tokens around Added: particles when using the Pressure Tank Added: "item already equipped" message when Quickslotting equipped items Buffed: "I Can O…
- Full Gear's 1 Year Anniversary - 8 March 2024
Hi everyone! It's been a full year since Full Gear released. In that time, it received many updates: tons of extra items, a new character, a new area, balancing, even a save system i begrudgingly added. But I'm afraid all good things must come to an end. I'm going to stop updating it to focus more on the rest of my life, and future endeavors. All these positive reviews and kind comments, and great suggestions: against all odds, people actually played and enjoyed my tiny little solo-developed game. That's awesome, it really is. But still - I'm moving on from Full Gear into new territory. A new game, perhaps? Who knows. Nothing's on the radar, though I do have plenty of ideas for future projects. They won't be roguelikes, so don't worry about that. A horror game? Arcade? If you have any bugs or suggestions, smaller updates are quite easy to do, so be sure to tell me! I still want to add i…
- Full Gear v3.0.1 - 30 January 2024
Hello, everyone who reads this! Don't mind me, just uploading a small patch that fixes 3.0 issues and adds winter items. It's still winter, right? Hilarious. v3.0.1: Patch Added: six "old" winter-themed equipment! Added: four new winter-themed Drone Parts! Added: some animations for Powerhouse objects Changed: more Powerhouse enemies spawn in the area Nerfed: Self-Wrathed Attack bonus: 10 -> 5 Nerfed: Self-Wrathed Accuracy bonus: 15 -> 10 Nerfed: Powerhouse enemies drop slightly less scrap Fixed: Powerhouse boss would show the wrong sprite when checked Fixed: Powerhouse boss end conversation would continue into next one Fixed: one achievement would not be unlockable due to Attack lower limit (now, Malus Attack also counts)
- Full Gear v3.0: "Two Bolts" - 26 January 2024
There's always a bit missing. Not much. Just a bit. The piece of the puzzle you couldn't quite reach. Maybe it got wrenched in the gears. And I've been wondering. There's humans in here. Turned into robots. How does that happen? Nothing is equipped for it. We're clearly missing something. This dungeon is holding more secrets than I thought. A Petrifying Gaze Welcome to Full Gear v3.0! The second major update introduces a new area, the Powerhouse! Let's do a quick rundown of what to expect in there: Petrified! Pin, stun, die. Domes, to permanently weaken the drones Lore to answer the question: where do these humanoid bots come from? A new terrifying boss with new music! Once again, this update is completely free, and will continue to be improved with stuff and things. It's more of a DLC than an update, but fits in perfectly with the base game. You can enable Two Bolts in the Base - there…
- 3.0 is almost done! - 20 January 2024
Hello, adventurers! Full Gear version 3.0 is as good as done, and I've started polishing it. So time for a little update! It's been so long, and I wanted to even add six winter-themed items but never got around to it. Not in this image: more decoration, some extra tooltips, and five new tracks! Or... four new tracks? Or... ah, we'll figure it out. And don't forget! There's always room for another one.
- Full Gear v2.3: "Electrochemistry" - 11 November 2023
Hello, adventurers! After a lot of testing, the gases are great fun and here to stay! There's a few minor changes in their behaviour (mostly balance changes since some gases were a little too much), but they're exactly as swirly as you'd expect. Some old bugs fixed and a bit of new stuff. Nothing too special, but it's all in preparation for v3.0 which I will definitely finish. Yup. Visuals All of Liz' big inventory sprites have been completed, leading to hilarious results as always. Good, that's one less thing to worry about. Liz can now also equip Hats to your heart-hat's contents. Due to popular demand, the tutorial has also been slightly improved so you can get through it easier. But remember, it's a roguelike, you're supposed to figure out most things yourself! Press random buttons and see what happens! Surely you won't immediately die. Changelog v2.3: Electrochemistry Added: Conjur…
- Full Gear v2.2.2 - 3 November 2023
Hello, adventurers! I'm working on v3.0, but it's all pretty slow so I can't make any promises yet. This update is mostly to test out some new features, mainly a new Bell type, trap type, and Gases. Can you guess what the update will be about? Gases A mildly experimental feature is gases. Gases stay on a tile for a set number of turns, applying their effect to any entity touching them before disappearing. Enemies don't try to avoid gases, but their effects stack up quickly if you're not careful. You can check them to see what they do. Currently, they come in 6 colors and are restricted to a few places: The new Plasma Trap (summons Red Malus Attack gas) Burn Drive (instead of AoE fire, now creates Orange burning gas) Acidgamation (now also drops Green blighting gas) Mercenary (instead of AoE freeze, now creates Blue freezing gas) Pounder Droid (instead of AoE corruption, now creates Purp…
- Full Gear v2.2.1 - 6 October 2023
Hello, adventurers! I hope you're enjoying the Reapers. There's gonna be less... but not zero. Small patch to fix some outstanding issues that stood out during testing lately. Especially some enemies being never really a threat. v2.2.1: Patch Added: the Gridlock! Rare utility that Calms all enemies in a large radius. Added: visual for the Rings of Disease, when using a Gadget Added: visual for the Force Connectors, when aiming a bullet Added: different animations for attacking with different Conjurers Buffed: Pressurer now starts with some bullets ready Buffed: Slashers' debuffs last longer (10+2L -> 15+3L), and they also apply Malus Resistance Buffed: Projectors Forcefields health 15 -> 25 Buffed: Assassins now gain 12 turns of Critter after throwing their knife Buffed: Pounder Droids now have 12 -> 9 Max Charge, meaning they slam quicker Buffed: all minibosses now have slightly improv…
- Full Gear v2.2: "What If They See You?" - 1 October 2023
Ah, Reapers. They hunt down unkillable or overpowered entities. But they're here? For me? Psh. I'm not afraid of them. I've been told about them well enough. Never seen a live one. They suck at hunting but carry nothing. I'll just avoid them for a bit. So what if they see me? I have nothing to hide. Hello, adventurers! So, let's get one thing straight: I'm moving to Australia now. That changes things: game development obviously got shoved on the side a little bit for the last month. I'm putting the game on a simmer instead of a full boil. That shouldn't matter, of course, for it is Spooktober and Halloween is always just around the corner. Just like in the summer, for the entirety of October there'll be ten fancy seasonal items to spice it up. Webby hands, pumpkins, and bats can now be found when playing as Devi. Sets and Goals They're finally here: Liz has her own item sets and Goals t…
- Full Gear v2.1: "Refinery" - 3 September 2023
Hello, adventurers! Apologies for the long delay for any updates. I've gotten myself off social media and had some things running. 2.1 is here, bringing Liz the near completion: proper boss items, some inventory sprites, some fixes, and Toolboxes! More customization is always a better thing, if you ask me. I'll go over all these things one by one; there's not a huge amount of stuff or anything, but there's a little more initiative to play as Liz. Toolboxes Devi got his collection of six gadgets, but Liz can now also customize her start. Maybe you want to Freeze everything nearby. Or get much better movement options? Whatever you're trying to do, selecting a Toolbox might help you. Might also not: they still decrease your Max Health from 50 to 40, as an incentive to also try to do without. All Toolboxes are always unlocked right now. Goals for them will appear later, but I'm trusting you…
- Full Gear v2.0: "Half Moon" - 12 August 2023
I've seen it over and over. People really die in the stupidest ways. Fireball at close range. Poison Blood on yourself. Summon Reaper without weaponry. But I'm not like them. I know what I'm doing. I have everything I need, right here. And yet... ...someone keeps telling me that I, too, will meet a similar fate. The Moon Rises Welcome to Full Gear v2.0! The first major update brings a new character: the Artificer! A quick and incomplete overview of what she brings to the mechanical table: Energy! Be sure to never drop to zero... Spells, to imbue in any of your Equipment A new and independent story of her Fate Over 100 pieces of equipment Unique Setups, Gadgets and Wheel Tokens Some new Utilities to suit her playstyle Counters and Fated status effects And, of course, a regular and true ending. It's worth noting that this update is completely free, and will continue to be improved with ad…
- 2.0 is in the works! - 24 July 2023
Hello, adventurers! Version 2.0 is in the works! And it's a big update, so it'll be a while before it comes out. I reckon it's fair to give everyone a quick update. I think one image can do the job for me. I won't spoil other specifics, but there's a few more things that'll arrive alongside 2.0: Windowed Mode, easily switching from Modern Mode to Traditional Mode, and bugfixes. Also, a smoother healthbar just for the fun of it. And here's a video teaser! Good luck.
- Full Gear v1.4: "Solar Engines" - 29 June 2023
Hello, adventurers! It's summer, it's warm outside, and I'm done sitting around. I want to pick up a jar of sand and throw it into robot sensors. And now you can! A small summer update - just in time for the Steam Summer Sale (50% off!) - has arrived, bringing some seasonal items coming in hot. The main course is six summer equipment, which all replace "old" items. Basically, they have identical stats, but look much funnier. Popsicle Rod: smack enemies with ice cream Coconuts For Hands: the largest of the nuts Barbecue Armor: free sausage included! Watermelons: refreshing Shell-Eyed: not practical at all Jar of Sand: gets everywhere. https://i.imgur.com/rp8MLTk.png There's also four new Drone Parts, replacing all Fire-imbued drone parts temporarily. They have different stats and abilities, so be sure to build some extra drones that use them! I won't spoil the abilities here, but they're…
- Full Gear hit 10 reviews! - 7 June 2023
Hello, everyone! Full Gear hit 10 reviews today, giving it an official Positive rating! This may not seem like much, but it means the world to me. Hopefully, even more players will find their way to the gears now. It's too short-term to make a cool party-themed update, but I still want to give a reward! Maybe you've checked out the Seeder already, making you able to seed runs and replay dungeons. Did you know there's a bunch of "secret seeds" that give weird effects? https://i.imgur.com/ByjAiPx.png They come in three flavors: helpful, hindering, and jokes. Helpful include the three God's names (which are...) or just using "Cheat"; hindering are for example "Blind" or "Curse"; and jokes are "Soup", "Crab" or "Calm". Especially "Calm" gives a great comedic effect to otherwise dramatic moments. There's also a super secret minigame you can find somewhere... maybe a hint will help. https://i…
- Full Gear v1.3.1: Loads of Work - 7 June 2023
Hello, adventurers! Nothing to see here. A quick patch to fix some lasting loading issues. And if you see this, leave a review! Yes, you. Do it. Just one word will do. I'll stop bothering you about it once I get to 10. See you around. v1.3.1: Loads of Work Save File Version is now 3. Older saves will be deleted automatically. Fixed: Builder's Aid "Repair 3" wouldn't work Fixed: Repair X and Sensoring X, when active, wouldn't highlight in the Taglist Fixed: loading would scramble your inventory items Fixed: loading would scramble Bells on the ground Fixed: saving/loading Drones would not give them particles and some special effects Fixed: saving/loading/saving/loading Drones would crash the game Fixed: rare softlock from stray area tiles in Arsenals Fixed: Large Cakes would not have correct descriptions
- Full Gear v1.3: "Hat's a Wrap" - 3 June 2023
Before anything: for a very short time, Full Gear is 90% off (because of my birthday)! Now's your chance to get or gift it for very cheap. Hello, adventurers! Sorry for the long hiatus of me telling you nothing. I got distracted by silly, unimportant things like "real life" and "Sapphire Caves". I'm reaping the benefits of having a large game library under my belt: being able to play it. But as I'm incredibly antsy, I just need to give it a quick little update to fix some things aaaaand I'm doing a full playthrough. Anyway - small, but significant update here, as there's hats now. Some smart, some silly. All of them definitely hats. https://i.imgur.com/DUiUO0g.png There probably won't be major updates for a bit. Partially because I already added pretty much every single thing I wanted to add (which is awesome), partially because I'm in a little bit of a busy period, and partially becaus…
