  A small update addressing a few bugs and usability updates: Cloud save and leaderboard capacity upgraded - leaderboards and cloud saves should now resume working for the players who have played Defense Grid 2 the most Chapter arrows in the UI have been made more visible and are easier to seeIn DG Architect, the two holo skirt brushes are no longer available as those assets were causing a crashAdditional code for internal error checking and verification was added.

• Aftermath DLC comes to Defense Grid 2 - 8 March 2026

  The first official expansion to Defense Grid 2 is now available - just a few(!) years after DG2's launch! These new advanced levels continue the campaign and begin right after Chapter 5 (which is likely where the game puts you if you've finished the original and start it back up). If you purchase Aftermath, just hit that chapter arrow to the right in the Campaign to take you to the next new Chapter and continue on in Aftermath. The story continues onward.DG2 and the Aftermath expansion now both have full voice localization for English, French, German and now we've added Simplified Chinese, Spanish and Korean as well.Aftermath was previously released for Defense Grid on the Oculus Rift and Nintendo Switch, but hasn't been made available on Steam until now. "That's a game you can play with one hand while holding a beer."  Though Austin and his fellow veterans at Hidden Path had previously worked on several games, Defense Grid: The Awakening was their first self-published title. They released it in 2008, when the tower defense genre was still mostly mods for games like Warcraft 3 and a few smartphone and browser games. Austin saw a fellow employee playing Desktop Tower Defense , and became inspired. "I wanted to make a AAA tower defense game, since the genre had only been in mods and flash games so far.
