  • Long Steel Update 1.2 - 27 June 2025

Hey everyone! It's been longer than I originally anticipated, but I'm happy to announce that the 1.2 update for Long Steel is officially out now! This update brings with it 2 new areas with lots of new content including new achievements, songs and boss battles!Return to the Instant Launch FormatIn order to prevent high CPU usage by the engine, the game was making use of a separate launcher. Thanks to a discovery by the Solarus Team, they've found a way for the instant launch .exe file to no longer take up an intense amount of CPU! Thanks to this, players will be able to launch Long Steel without having to navigate a secondary launcher and will also experience less CPU related crashes.General-Various bug fixes throughout the game-New graveyard cutscene following the third boss-Changes to cutscene dialogs/events where deemed appropriate-Rolling without walking will cause the hero to pivot…

  • Long Steel's 1 Year Anniversary! - 30 January 2025

Hey everyone, Today is the first anniversary of Long Steel! In the time since the game has been released I have grown a lot as a developer and learned a great deal thanks to player feedback. Many changes and improvements have been made to make Long Steel a better experience and I plan on adding more content and updates in the near future. I am planning on having a new 1.2 update released in the next couple of months which I am very excited to share with you all! Until then, thank you everyone who has contributed to Long Steel's journey and I will be sharing new content with you all soon. As always, feel free to share any thoughts, ideas, bugs, complaints, criticism, what have you with me either through the discussion board or through my email at [email protected] Thank you!

  • Long Steel Update 1.1.5 - 1 November 2024

Happy Halloween! It's been a while since the last update, this one I'm labeling 1.1.5 since although it is still a major update that adds and/or changes many things about the game, it's not substantial enough for me to consider 1.2. With that, here's a brief overview of all the new changes being made to Long Steel. Game Launcher For the foreseeable future, the Long Steel .exe file will instead be using the Solarus Launcher. While this makes the initial boot-up a bit clunky, it has a much lower toll on the CPU and memory, which should prevent crashes on older systems. For the first time playing, you will need to navigate in the Launcher to File > Add Quest > The Long Steel .solarus file This should be temporary up until the newest update for the Solarus engine releases! Cooking Update and Menus There are now 6 more recipes that can be cooked up at the Bonfire! They stack the same way oth…

  • Long Steel Update 1.1 - 5 July 2024

Hey everyone! It's been a while since the last update, but I've been working hard on making some improvements to the game. This comes in the form of various QoL changes, new systems and graphics as well as bug fixes. I'll continue to work hard to improve things as additional feedback is received, but I'm excited for everything coming out with this update. Bug Fixes -Softlock following the gangsters toward the beach has been fixed -Globules will now stack to 30 when you receive the bag upgrade. -Bridges working as intended. -Can no longer teleport to the Pale Lands while in the future. -The miniboss room in the Frozen Castle will no longer lock you in after beating the boss. -The digging minigame guy is now less adamant that you play his game. -The torch minigame at the beach now functions correctly. -Goo is now craftable. -Falling should now make the hero invincible on respawn for a sho…

  • Game Changes With More on the Way! - 9 March 2024

Hey everyone! At the time of writing this, I've just pushed a new build to the public with mostly bug fixes, but some new additions as well. Bug fix wise, issues involving the Lair of 100 Trials as well as the entrance bridge to the Sky Temple should now be functioning as intended. As far as new additions... Demo A Demo version of Long Steel has launched! This will take you up to and including the first boss of the first dungeon! Item Wheel For new players, how to use the Item Wheel will be introduced through a new Voidling in the tutorial that instructs you on the controls. For existing players, I'll go through the new addition here. To assign items to the Item Wheel, simply select an assignable item from the inventory or crafting inventory for consumables, and keep the Item Key held down for a second or two and the Wheel will pop up. From there, press the Item Key in any of the sectio…

  • An Update From the Dev Before Tomorrow's Release - 29 January 2024

Hey everyone, Before tomorrow's release, I just wanted to put out a little message. First and foremost, let me just say what a long and crazy journey it's been getting to this point. A lot of blood, swear and tears has been poured into this game, and I hope that it truly shows in the finished product. While this has been a one man operation the whole way through, no man is an island and it's important to give credit where it's due. To everyone on the Solarus forums and on the Solarus discord who has taken time to help me, whether it be through my various questions or by helping me with my coding struggles, you guys are the best and I TRULY would not have been able to do this without you all. Same goes to family, friends, anyone who has taken an interest in my game, you've given me the inspiration to keep going and seeing it through until release, of course including you who is reading t…
