Hey Stackers,We've worked very hard on getting you Hack 'n' Stack ready to rolll and we will be releasing it on September 24th. We're launching it on Steam (PC) and Nintendo Switch. It was a first for the Hack 'n' Stack team to release on Nintendo Switch so the setup of the stores, the Lotcheck and all that jazz took longer. We wanted to release both platforms at the same time so you can enjoy the game either with your PC or Nintendo Switch friends.

- Visual Feedback : Making understandable chaos🤪 - 26 March 2026
Hey Stackers! We wanted to share with you some of the early and new visuals used to help you learn about the different game mechanics. While we are still aiming for a wacky ambiance, we also want the tower defense aspect to be easy to learn for more casual players. The arrows on the floor are a good example. While we wanted players to understand that they show the enemy’s path, we also wanted them to blend in rather than be too obvious. The first version of these arrows was very loud. There are only two enemy paths in our demo level, and the visuals were already competing with other game elements. While we do need to know the enemy’s paths to plan our strategy, we don’t need to see them as prominently as other elements like turrets or resource points. The final version is much cleaner and keeps the essentials.Another important feature of the game is the crafting table. We needed players t…
- 🤠Fighting in style - 9 January 2026
Hey Stackers! The trailer is coming very soon. While you wait for it, we wanted to share one important point in the game. While defending the kingdom, we think you should do it in style! We knew that cosmetic customization in Hack ‘n’ Stack would play a powerful role in how you, the players, connect with our game. Even though these items don’t affect stats or gameplay, they let you express your personality—and look fabulously ridiculous—while saving the world. It’s a quick way to feel ownership over your characters, injecting identity and creativity into an experience that might otherwise feel uniform. After all, if you’re going to save the kingdom, why not do it wearing a top hat and wielding an epic sword? Take a look at some of the hats and weapons we have in store for you. You’ll be able to see more weapons and hats in the upcoming posts. Keep an eye out; they might appear where you…
- 🎬 Sounds...like a new trailer?! - 26 November 2025
Hey Stackers! We are starting to test sound effects when VFXs appear. Sometimes, it’s on point, sometimes it’s not. Imagine the crafting sound currently being a teleporter mixed with a health pick up and a loud tuning fork noise.🤪In addition, we are working on a brand-new trailer with all you need to know about the game and the wacky adventure that awaits. The devs had to help the trailer team by giving them tools for the game recordings. The first thing they needed was a free camera. It would be easier to move around the level. We then noticed that the level was missing something. The camera angle had always been a top-down view and therefore, we could see the environment had no sky.Another useful debug tool was the ability to delay/stop an enemy wave. This would help to get the perfect timing for enemies to spawn or just have the time to mess around with the blocks and make a giant str…
- 🛠️ Hack 'n' Stack : Level Blocking is done! - 15 October 2025
Hey Stackers! Our design team is putting the final touches on the blocking and balancing of the levels for the game. What are the ingredients for a good level blocking in Hack ‘n’ Stack? ⛰️Terraform the map to give it a unique shapeDetermine where the enemies will start the invasion⚔️ Anticipate the optimal defense zones📦 10 Set up the locations to gather your resources🚩 Have clear objectives to complete scattered around the mapAlso, the players’ spawner is another important area to establish. No one wants to spawn on the front lines. 😱 What’s Next?👗 Dress up the levels with our dazzling art props for the different biomes🎮 External playtests should begin shortly after that. Thanks for stacking with us — see you in the next devlog! — The Hack 'n' Stack Team 💙
- 🛠️ Hack 'n' Stack at Gamescom 2025 – One Month Later! - 19 September 2025
Hey Stackers! It’s been a month since Gamescom 2025 wrapped up, and we’re still buzzing from the experience! Hack 'n' Stack was proudly featured in the Indie Pavilion – Hall 10.2, Indies of the Americas, and we had an amazing time connecting with players, creators, and fellow indie devs.🎮 What We ShowcasedOur latest demo was front and center, giving visitors a taste of the chaotic co-op fun that defines Hack 'n' Stack. - Online Mode Development for the First Level 🌐 - 11 June 2025
Hello everyone! We are actively working on optimizing the online mode for the first level of our game. This level is currently in development, and we are ensuring that the multiplayer experience is smooth and responsive from the very first seconds of gameplay! 💡 Challenges of Online Development: Creating an online level comes with many technical challenges. We need to ensure a stable connection between players, synchronize their actions in real time, manage ping variations, and prevent desynchronization that could affect the gaming experience. 🕹️ Minimal Latency, Maximum Fluidity: We are doing everything we can to reduce response time between players and provide a responsive gameplay experience. Every action should be immediate, with no frustrating lag. 🔗 Perfect Synchronization: We are fine-tuning communication systems between clients and servers to ensure seamless interactions with…
- Hack 'n' Stack : A new era begins ! - 28 May 2025
Newsletter #1 – May 2025 🧠 It Wasn’t a Mandela Effect… Some of you had already noticed it for a while, and we can finally confirm it officially: The Tower is now Hack 'n' Stack! 🎉 This name change also marks a shift in our vision for the game. More than just a rebrand, it’s a complete rethinking of the experience we want to deliver. 🔄 A Shift in Paradigm The feedback we received on The Tower prototype was incredibly valuable. It helped us identify several limitations in our original approach—especially around pacing, readability, and player freedom. The initial concept was simple: 🧱 Build and repair a tower using eclectic blocks, while defending it from increasingly intense waves of enemies. Players could use anything they found to fight back (and yes, we kept that part!). But despite the intensity of the combat, the gameplay felt too restricted and linear. The action took place in…
- We’re Officially Entering Production! - 6 January 2025
Hey new and old friends, We’re thrilled to announce that Hack 'n' Stack is officially moving into production! This milestone means we’re closer to bringing you, our game ! Hack 'n' Stack wasn’t always as you see today. It started as The Tower, a literal tower defense game with a fun twist. While the concept showed potential, we quickly realized it didn’t quite capture the excitement or depth we wanted to deliver. It felt repetitive, and we knew we could do better. So, we pivoted. And wow, what a journey .... Hack 'n' Stack became something much more dynamic and creative. This change wasn’t just a decision, it was a commitment to giving you, our players, a game worth your time. What This Means for You: We’ve been listening to all your feedback throughout this process. Your support and enthusiasm keep us going, and we’re beyond grateful. As production kicks off, we’ll have plenty of oppor…
