- Patch #2 - Playstation controllers & drink mixing - 22 September 2026
Playstation 4 & 5 controllers now have playable sensitivity settings - that's what happens when you set up your config on a cheap third party controller, I guess. Alongside that, work with this patch has focused on fixes & stability for the drink mixing sequence. I think between this patch & yesterday's we should have gotten most of the issues, but... there's a lot to this game, and plenty of room for things to sneak in. Please use the Steam bug report form & send a save file/debug log if you run into anything! We're down to about 15 reported & known bugs on the tracker - going to try and get through all those over the next two days, including a fix for issues on how the game handles mouse sensitivity, and bringing in steam cloud saves. CHANGELOG Playstation controllers no longer have an exceptionally low sensitivity on both sticks. Bunk will no longer repeat his conversation vignettes…
- Patch #1 - 21 September 2026
First proper patch has gone live. Main focus with this one is tackling the dialogue softlocks that keep biting at people. With the softlocks we've been seeing, there's generally two causes - an error in the code driving the actual flow of dialogue, followed by the dialogue management or user interface failing to bounce back from that error. A lot of my work with this patch has gone in to identifying areas where the management or interface would get stuck and freeze, and setting up cleaner ways of handling that. Nominally this means either exiting the dialogue without freezing the game, or falling back to displaying whatever broken line caused the issue, rather than it just curling up as a nervous wreck in the corner unable to cope with the situation. This should mean far fewer instances of lost progress in the game. There may well still be situations I've not found that could cause soft…
- Achievements Fixed - 19 September 2026
Oof. Due to a build script misconfiguration, the game went live without Steam integration or Achievement tracking. Took a bit of time to fix this in order to make sure that changing backend data stuff didn't brick anyone's save files, but achievements are up and running now, and tracked by Steam. Please note - Due to it not actually tracking them before, unfortunately previous gained achievements are lost to the void - big, big apologies for that.
- Roman Sands RE:Build review: A unique and obliterating blend of resort sim, engineering horror and alchemic ritual - 18 September 2026
I completed Roman Sands RE:Build late last night, and haven't had nearly enough time to digest it, but I'm keen to help get the word out and energise whatever algorithmic chicanery might contribute to this gorgeous, ugly thing making money. So! Roman Sands RE:Build is two exquisitely grim games locked in a collapsing binary orbit. You should play it, preferably before reading the rest of this review, which is only going to spoil and dilute its squalid magic. Read more

- A Roman Sands RE:Build release date and a tease for a new edition of Paratopic is exactly what the doctor ordered - 7 June 2025
I've been excited about Roman Sands RE:Build since the moment I laid my eyes on it, particularly because it's from the same studio behind the ever-haunting Paratopic . Roman Sands just has a ridiculously strong art direction to it, very much one that could easily be dubbed Y2K, but I think more accurately should be seen as an evolution of the aesthetic/ era. Almost as if this is the direction it could have gone in. Read more

- Doki Doki Literature Club publisher has another visual horror novel on the way - 20 December 2022
Doki Doki Literature Club is one of my favourite games, and one of the best free games of all time . It’s not exactly innovative or outstanding, if I’m being honest, but it is one of the most memorable gaming experiences I’ve had. The visual novel may look like just that - a narrative game - and nothing more. You’re a boy joining a literature club of girls, all of which end up being romantic interests. This all leads you to believe that Doki Doki Literature Club is simply a visual novel and dating simulator, and that’s where you’re wrong. Very wrong. It takes a horrific turn for the worse, to say the least, and that’s all I’ll say. If you are yet to play Doki Doki, the less you know, the better it is. Read more
- The next game from Paratopic’s devs has a tropical Paradise Killer feel - 20 December 2022
First-person adventure Roman Sands RE:Build was announced during Nintendo’s House Of Indies holiday event, and it’s coming to Steam in summer 2023 too. Described as an “end of time adventure gacha puzzle apocalypse visual novel simulation horror trip”, Roman Sands RE:Build hails from the devs behind horror game Paratopic . It’s got a vaguely vaporwave sensibility that reminds me a smidge of Paradise Killer . Watch the trailer for Roman Sands RE:Build below, and please explain to me if you understand what’s going on.
