Latest Steam announcements

  • Gears Tactics and Dirty Bomb devs working on a new sci-fi game - 15 October 2021

Splash Damage, the folks who made Gears Tactics and Brink , have announced they're working on a new sci-fi game. They've worked on a number of series created by other developers over the years, including Wolfenstein and Gears, but haven't made their own PC game since Dirty Bomb in 2014. It'll be interesting to see what they have in store - perhaps a first-person shooter like Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory ? Or maybe something more strategic, given Gears Tactics' success. Read more

  • Splash Damage s Brink is now free - 24 August 2017

Splash Damage’s 2011 first-person shooter Brink is, out of the blue, now free. Swing by Steam and its yours for keepsies – it’s not a free-to-play conversion, just Brink being set free. Publishers Bethesda don’t say why they’ve done this (perhaps to celebrate QuakeCon this weekend?) but hey, thanks. Brink does Splash Damage’s usual Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory sort of class-based and object-driven action, this time taking it to a dystopian futurecity and introducing a natty parkour system. I didn’t play Brink for very long back in the day, but I do still fondly remember the parkour and bold, battered character faces. (more…)

  • Brink, Bethesda's post-apocalyptic FPS, is now free to play on Steam - 22 August 2017

Remember Brink ? Don't feel too badly if your answer is "no." Developed by Splash Damage and published by Bethesda in 2011, it was intended to blend single and multiplayer combat in a futuristic tale about a battle between the Resistance and Security aboard a crumbling floating city called the Ark. We scored it a very positive 76/100 in our review , but overall it tanked pretty badly and was quickly forgotten.  All of this leads to today's very short and sweet announcement that Brink is now free to play on Steam . Just download it and start shooting—if you enjoy the experience, you can also opt to spring for one of three DLC packs: The Fallout/Spec Ops combo pack or the Doom/Psycho combo pack, which go for $1 each, or the beefier Agents of Change DLC, which includes new maps, abilities, weapon attachments, and outfits, which is currently on sale for a little under…

  • First Dirty Bomb Gameplay Trailer Shows a Loud, Messy Urban Battlefield - 14 December 2012

Following up on last month's trailer , here's a look at some pre-alpha multiplayer gameplay from Dirty Bomb . The trailer takes us to a smoldering, half-destroyed version of London, presumably one of the levels of Brink developer Splash Damage's new free-to-play title. We get to see mostly scenes of infantry action, though a few moments of sniping and vehicular combat make it in as well. Dirty Bomb: London Bridge Gameplay

  • Brink Devs Not Ruling Out PC Version Of Rad Soldiers - 20 April 2012

Good news! After a period of relative silence following Brink’s splash-that-wasn’t, Splash Damage is back with another game about men shooting other men. However, not-so-good news: iOS, greedy devourer of worlds that it is, swallowed the poor thing whole. And while the Enemy Territory developer also has a free-to-play PC exclusive in the works for later this year, Rad Soldiers – as the iOS-bound strategy is known – looks like asynchronous XCOM wearing TF2′s pants. In other words: delightful. I wants it, precious. I wants it. Fortunately, Splash Damage told us that all hope isn’t lost. (more…)

  • Writers Guild Award Noms For Brink and Bats - 12 January 2012

The UK Writers’ Guild Awards took place at the end of 2011 but the American guild like to time their ceremonies a little closer to the Oscars so that they can fall into Awards Season, which isn’t actually a season at all. You may remember that a man named Gillen was nominated for the UK award, along with Ed Stern whose script for Brink received a nod. The winners were the writers of Enslaved though and that doesn’t exist on PC so we neglected to mention its victory. A belated round of applause to Alex Garland and Tameem Antoniades. So, who has received a nomination from the American guild? Read on. (more…)

  • This World of Warcraft Art Takes it to the Brink (I'm Sorry...) - 12 January 2012

Laurel D. Austin does some great work. Employed for years at Splash Damage, the team behind Brink , she's recently joined Blizzard, where she's working as a concept artist. Living the dream. In this gallery you will find: some of her amazing work for Brink (say what you will about the game, its art was awesome) as well as World of Warcraft stuff, specifically images for the trading card game based on the blockbuster MMO. You can see more of Laurel's work at her personal site . Fine Art is a celebration of the work of video game artists. If you're in the business and have some concept, environment or character art you'd like to share, drop us a line !

  • Which of These Five Games Had the Best Writing of 2012? - 11 January 2012

Every year the Writers Guild of America awards a special Outstanding Achievement in Video Game Writing award to the team responsible for the most memorable interactive entertainment script. Which of these five titles will walk away a winner on February 19? You know what I love about the Writers Guild of America Video Game Writing Award? It's a chance for games that weren't nominated for any other category to shine. Just look at poor Brink . Not only wasn't it nominated for any other major awards, just about everyone I know forgot it even existed. Now it stands proudly among the likes of Batman: Arkham City , Assassin's Creed: Revelations , Uncharted 3 , and... Mortal Kombat ? There was writing in Mortal Kombat ? And if your favorite game didn't make the cut, rest easy; to be eligible members of the writing staff must be or have applied to be members of the guild's Videogame Writers Cauc…

  • See How An Ordinary Nerf Gun Transforms into This Brink Assault Rifle - 6 January 2012

The game may've met with a lukewarm reception when it hit last year , but the one thing that Splash Damage's Brink had going for it was an amazing art style. Laurens Corijn , an artist at the British dev studio, brought that look into the real world by modding a standard Nerf Stampede into an amazing replica of the FPS's Gerund assault rifle. Corijn went really in-depth with this re-creation, cracking the Stampede open and attaching sights to the once-harmless kids' toy. The step-by-step guide's hosted over on the official Splash Damage site. If Brink ever gets a sequel, let's hope something like this is in the collector's edition. • Brink Free Weekend Is This Weekend / Now - 1 December 2011

Brink’s forthcoming clans and tournaments update is being celebrated by a free weekend on Steam, says Bethesda blog . The game is going to be free to play all weekend, this weekend. If you play for free this weekend you will also be able to purchase the game permanently for 75% off at any point during the weekend. That weekend apparently runs from “10 AM PST today… through Monday at 10 AM PST.” So that’s what’s happening with Brink this weekend.

  • Brink is free to play this weekend, clan and tournament features added - 1 December 2011

The parkour driven multiplayer shooter, Brink will be free to play through Steam this weekend to celebrate the addition of Clan and Tournament support. That'll let you create and keep track of clans on the Brink site. From there you'll be able to challenge other clans and battle for position on the global clan ladder. The clan hub will also let clan members set up tournaments with custom rulesets, and keep track of each battle online. Brink never quite got off the ground when it launched back in May, though it showed plenty of promise, with characterful avatars, spectacular settings, varied classes and some destructive gadgets. Find out more in our Brink review. It'll go free at 10AM PST, in about an hour, giving everyone the opportunity to find out how Brink plays six months on. If you like it, Brink will be on sale at 75% off for the duration of the free trial.

  • Splash Damage working on new game based on ‘major entertainment brand’ - 17 November 2011

UPDATE THE SECOND - It seems all this fuss has been over nothing, with Splash Damage's Paul Wedgewood tweeting: "We're not working with Disney. We're not building a pop culture IP. We're only using BRINK tech for BRINK updates atm." UPDATE - Both Eurogamer and Kotaku are speculating this could be a Marvel comics game, based on the sentence "a company widely believed to have given up on the console publishing business", which could well be Disney, who own the Marvel brand. The timing also fits with the '50 years' quote, as the Marvel we know first took off in 1961 with the creation of the Fantastic Four. Could we see an Avengers game based on Brink? Would it resemble the awesome looking cancelled Avengers FPS from THQ (video above)? We can only hope. Original post follows. Hiding in the corner of an Industry Gamers article is a hint at Brink developer Splash Damage's next project. Appare…

  • Brink Devs Making a Marvel Game? - 17 November 2011

A major report on British developers from IndustryGamers has thown up a surprising piece of information: that Brink developers Splash Damage are probably working on a new Marvel game. The report says that the studio is working on an "unannounced project for a major entertainment brand", which is "based on one of the biggest American pop culture brands of the last 50 years". When it then says this major entertainment brand is "a company widely believed to have given up on the console publishing business", it becomes pretty clear it's talking about Disney, which recently purchased Marvel comics . The game in question has "online multiplayer technology" and is running on "an even more polished Brink engine". So, yeah, sounds a lot like Brink with Marvel characters. Maybe for the upcoming Avengers movie. Anyone interested? Guess it depends on how much you like Marvel! United Front: 7 UK Stu…

  • Back From… Brink Does Clans, Tourneys - 16 November 2011

Brink: a most curious beast indeed. I’m still not entirely sure what I make of it. While I wish it had done quite a few things a little differently, I’m heartened to see that it hasn’t been left to die: a forthcoming update will better turn it to the not-so-tender mercies of community-centric play. Clans and tournaments will be the focus of the patch – the kind of stuff that perhaps should have been there in the first place, but hindsight is 20/20, as my Dad so helpfully observes several hundred times a year. You’ll be able to create a clan, recruit members, create some sort of no doubt nightmarishly ugly clan symbol, manage things via a dedicated profile page and, of course, wage war on other clans. They deserve it, the rotters. (more…)

  • Calader's Art Takes Star Wars to the Brink - 13 October 2011

Based in the UK, Georgi "Calader" Simeonov works at Splash Damage, meaning he had a hand in the lovely "nothing but blue skies" art design of multiplayer shooter Brink . So we'll be showing you some of that, but also some of his other stuff on titles like Sony's MMO Star Wars Galaxies , along with something we'll be covering a lot more in the weeks to come: Dungeons & Dragons art. You'll find many video game artists have also done work at some stage in their careers for a company like Wizards of the Coast, or if not that kind of fantasy slant, then for stuff like Magic: The Gathering . If you like the Brink stuff, we've run a gallery of some other concept art from the game earlier in the year , which may have fallen flat with players, but at least it looked great! And if you like Georgi's stuff, you should check out his personal site . To see the larger pics in all their glory (or so yo…

Short description

You decide the combat role you want to assume in the world of Brink as you fight to save yourself and mankind’s last refuge!

About this game

Brink is an immersive first-person shooter that blends single-player, co-op, and multiplayer gameplay into one seamless experience, allowing you to develop your character whether playing alone, with your friends, or against others online. You decide the combat role you want to assume in the world of Brink as you fight to save yourself and mankind’s last refuge. Brink offers a compelling mix of dynamic battlefields, extensive customization options, and an innovative control system that will keep you coming back for more. Brink takes place on the Ark, a man-made floating city that is on the brink of all-out civil war. Originally built as an experimental, self-sufficient and 100% “green” habitat, the reported rapid rise of the Earth’s oceans has forced the Ark to become home to not only the original founders and their descendants but also to thousands of refugees. With tensions between the two groups growing, Security and Resistance forces are locked in a heated battle for control of the Ark. Which side will you choose? KEY FEATURES: Not Just Another Hero – Brink's advanced player customization offers a near-endless combination of looks for your character – allowing for the appearance of your character to be truly unique. As you progress through the game and acquire more experience, you’ll have even more opportunities for customization. Two Sides to Every Story – Choose to fight through the single player campaign as either a member of the Resistance or the Security and then take your same character online to play cooperatively or competitively against other players. Blurring the Lines – Take your unique character online at any time you choose! Brink allows you to seamlessly move between your single player campaign, co-op with friends, and intense multiplayer action. Multiplayer takes the story online where you can play with up to seven other people (or AI characters) cooperatively as you take on the opposing faction or with up to 16 players competitively. Play SMART – Brink uses the familiar shooter controls that you’re used to, without frustrating, artificial constraints and adds a new feature: the SMART button. When you press the SMART button, the game dyna…

Price History Overview

USD uses SteamPulse's own locally recorded daily store snapshots, so this overview reflects the exact regional price history that SteamPulse has captured for this currency.

Coverage And Tracking Window

  • Snapshots: 1
  • Coverage: Oct 8, 2026 to Oct 8, 2026
  • Lowest observed: Free
  • Highest observed: Free

BRINK's USD price history spans from Oct 8, 2026 to Oct 8, 2026, with 1 recorded snapshot across 1 calendar day. Each row records the available final price, listed base price, and discount metadata for that observation. Within this coverage the lowest recorded price is Free, the highest is Free, and the first visible tracked price is Free. These comparisons apply only to the snapshots SteamPulse holds; missing observations can contain changes that are not represented here.

For USD, SteamPulse uses locally captured regional storefront snapshots and does not reconstruct older prices with exchange-rate conversion. The chart and table show the values recorded for this exact currency from the stated coverage start. Additional snapshots extend that record, but they do not fill unobserved days or prove what the storefront displayed between observations.

Discount Windows And Sale Timing

  • Discount windows: 0
  • Discounted days: 0 days
  • Deepest markdown: No discount tracked
  • Latest sale window: No sale window tracked

BRINK's tracked USD rows do not contain a discount window. This means no available snapshot in the stated coverage has usable discount metadata; it does not prove that the game was never discounted. Missing snapshots or archived rows without complete metadata can hide a sale, so SteamPulse does not infer pricing strategy from this absence.

If a later snapshot includes discount metadata, it will appear here with its recorded depth, price, date, and sale name when available. Until then, this section should be read only as a description of the available rows, not as evidence about the publisher's promotion policy.

Observed Price Changes And Stable Runs

  • Observed price drops: 0
  • Observed price rises: 0
  • Longest stable run: 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking
  • Current run: 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking

Outside rows carrying discount metadata, the tracked price has not recorded a separate price rise or drop yet. That means the observed undiscounted level has stayed stable across the snapshots SteamPulse currently holds. This is a statement about the recorded coverage only; it does not prove that an older or missing price change never happened.

The longest unchanged price stretch in the current record lasts 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking at Free, from Oct 8, 2026 through Oct 8, 2026. Among rows without discount metadata, the longest unchanged run lasts 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking at Free. The latest run records Free for 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking as the same recorded undiscounted price. Run lengths describe consecutive stored observations only and do not establish that a price is permanent.

Latest Snapshot And Sales Context

  • Current price: Free
  • Current list price: Free
  • Distinct observed prices: 1
  • Source mode: SteamPulse local tracking

The latest tracked snapshot records BRINK at Free in USD, with no active discount metadata. Across the available history SteamPulse has recorded 1 distinct final price in this currency. This supports comparisons with the lowest, highest, and most common values present in the retained record, subject to the stated coverage limits.

The live sales view and Steam sales record provide calendar context for these dates. A date overlap can be compared with a named Steam event, but it does not prove why a publisher changed a price. As new daily rows arrive, this overview recalculates its observed prices, discount windows, and run lengths automatically.
