- Release Announcement! - 3 March 2026
Thanks for all your support and feedback the past few years! We couldn't have done it without our community of racing game fans. The version of MotorCubs RC you're playing today is the foundation of a much bigger plan. There's 3 more levels in the works coming out between now and June. And we will be creating Reverse versions of each level. Our mud interaction tech is getting upgraded soon. And graphics optimization for Steam Deck will become a priority in the summer. While we had to temporarily disable Splitscreen Multiplayer, our original programmer is returning to restore Versus mode back to its original Glory! And while Online multiplayer does (sometimes) work, it needs more time in the oven.In the meantime, we're going to keep producing new vehicles and new levels to unlock and enjoy. Thanks for playing and help spread the word about MotorCubs RC!
- July 4th Update - Refined Physics and Patriotism - 7 July 2025
Here's a breakdown of new things to look forward to with today's update:PROGRAMMINGThe entire online multiplayer endeavor took 6 months and multiple angles of attack to work well with offline gameplay as well. It's robust, fast, and provides a great foundation for future online modes. We will go live in a few weeks. All scripts have been refined to run more efficiently per clock cycle, and the vehicle physics are noticeably more fun! The way they intersect with the ground has been improved as well. The suspension and wheels hug and react to the ground better. Not to mention the A.I. Competitors are smarter drivers now. This is more behind the scenes, but more controls were added so that we can customize the 3rd person camera positions and how much vehicles yaw, pitch and roll mid-air now.LEVELSCave Dweller lighting and reflection maps have been given another round of polish to keep the t…
- Build 1389 - Carnage, Destruction and Polish - 26 January 2025
Hey everyone, here's some updates on what has changed with MotorCubs RC since early December. Online multiplayer lobbies work, and online gameplay is being chipped away behind the scenes. We expect to make that mode public within the next month! Network and Multiplayer Improvements (hidden for public builds): Switched to using NetworkRigidbody3Ds for all car models for better multiplayer synchronization. Human players can now drive in multiplayer mode. Significant work on multiplayer stability, including reducing lightmap sizes to prevent network drops. Lighting and Visual Enhancements: New lighting bake for the Cave Dweller level with updated light settings. Reduction in lightmap sizes across various levels to optimize performance (e.g., Charles Run, Game of Thorns, Guttural Crack). Added and adjusted reflection probes in Cave Dweller. Physics and Vehicle Mechanics: Updated control val…
- Build 1144 - Programming Framework Updates - 8 December 2024
We've made amazing strides in the speed and efficiency of the programming scripts in MotorCubs RC. Here's a short summary of the improvements made since build 1029: Playfab allows for offline gameplay, useful for Steam Deck travel play. Vehicle A.I. is aware of other cars nearby. Vehicle A.I. fuzzy logic when it feels it's stuck in a wall. Vehicle A.I. can be taught where to jump. Vehicle A.I. decisions are hexadecimal instead of string for faster processing. Vehicles tilt forward in mid-air to align better with terrain. Vehicles can recover from being upside down or on their side by steering left or right. Vehicle wheels hang in mid-air. Vehicles are able to clutch flip, useful after a pit maneuver is executed on the player. Vehicle turning reduced by 30% if fewer than 3 wheels are touching the ground. Dead vehicle chassis' can be driven into and ripped apart for a Bear Biscuit reward.…
- Build 1029 Hotfix 2 - FSR Toggle and Presets - 30 October 2024
The Settings -> Graphics page in the Main Menu enables the player to automatically change their FSR Quality setting by choosing a different Graphics Quality Tier such as "Simple", "Steam Deck" or "Fantastic". These settings have subtle differences, such as Texture quality, Shadow quality, Lighting Method (per vertex or per pixel for secondary lights), Resolution of the Directional Sunlight, etc. The FSR Toggle button right below them allows the user to override the Quality Presets for FSR set by those graphics quality tiers. So feel free to mix and match Graphics vs FSR quality going forward! And yes, Fantastic Quality has screen space ray traced reflections enabled. It's intensive so definitely try toggling FSR to the level that you prefer depending on your graphics card.
- Build 1014 - Major New Features - 25 October 2024
Thanks for your many months of patience! We've made a lot of changes to the core programming of the game. We really thought about the game loop of entering, finishing, and exiting a race and decided to amplify the experience with the following changes: Bear Biscuit coins are earned depending on your placement in a race: 50 Bear Biscuits for 1st Place 20 Bear Biscuits for 2nd Place 10 Bear Biscuits for 3rd Place Those earnings are reflected in the Results Page with an animated counter AND a drop of physical Bear Biscuit Coins onto the Podium, occasionally knocking the cars off! We even have an End of Race Announcer voiced by the talented Dela, who can be found here: https://delbellzva.carrd.co/ And yes, Bear Biscuits found off-track get included with your Podium Placement earnings once you arrive on the Main Menu. A lot of thought has been put into the life cycle of vehicles between spaw…
- Build 863b - Better Compiled Build - 14 July 2024
Hey everyone, we're getting a lot of work done behind the scenes for a potential online multiplayer mode. But in the meantime here's a higher performance version of the game to help tide things over until we have that mode solved. Some systems like boosting cars/a.i. or respawning had to be disabled in the main A pipe build. So for now the suffix "b" will indicate the alternate B pipe version of the game with just single player and local multiplayer. Thanks again and we hope you're enjoying the game!

- Dual Sense Controller Support - 19 February 2024
Hey everyone, It's been a long journey but we finally have Dual Sense (PS5) controller support in the PC and Mac builds, along with universal support of most controllers. We even tapped the RGB LED controls of Dual Sense and look forward to taking full advantage of that controller's API over the next few months.
- Pit Maneuvers, Radio Stations, Honeypots and Speed Increase! - 30 January 2024
Hello MotorCubs fans, the team has made big changes under the hood! A sexy new Controller Layout was created for the Loading Screen and Pause Menu. Pit Maneuvers can occur when a vehicle is going over 5 mph and gets hit by another vehicle near the rear tires on either side. The built in electronic control stability system will do its best to recover from these hits. The Radio stations 98.3 (original songs) and 105.7 (licensed songs) play in parallel, and when the player switches stations with Dpad Up or Dpad Down the timeline is preserved. You'll jump into the middle of whatever song was playing on the other station. But using Dpad Left and Dpad Right you can skip backward or forward through the song playlist. We also animated the Radio Panel UI to appear and disappear with flair. FSR 3 was fixed to remove a minor memory leak and improve GPU performance with FP16. Definitely test the va…

- Build 685 - FSR 3.0 Upgrade and Honking - 10 January 2024
We've upgraded from the official FSR 1.0 provided by Unity and gone with a custom implementation of FSR 3.0! That's right, we skipped 2.0 because we were already fashionably late to the first party. With FSR 3 we're getting 90-120 FPS on Game of Thorns on a Mobile 3080Ti. We also added a Honk feature to the L1 button. Depending on the vehicle class you might see vehicles react to the honking...
