  Kodama Battles 1.0 release is here: With it comes: - A new difficulty mode "Comfy difficulty" unlockable after a first run win. From your feedback we saw the second level of difficulty was too big of a gap compared to the first one. This new difficulty mode will make the progression leaner. - 2 new Kodamas and their Mega Kodama fusion - Some bug fixes here and there From the 2 devs: We would have loved to do more for the game but it didn't really resonate with people and didn't get an audience. We realise the game's designs has flaws, like the base mechanics are a bit too complex and can make understanding the game a hard task. But if you are willing to try a chill autochess with an unique board management setup and some cool unit combos it's maybe worth a try!

• Game got a new name: Kodama Battles! - 14 July 2023

  We are changing names, the game is now called Kodama Battles! For those who don't know, Kodamas are Spirits of the forest in japanese culture/folklore. They have been popularized internationnally by, among others, the Ghibli movie "Princess Mononoke" . This new name reflects more what the game is about. It's not a "perfect name" because "Battle" is maybe too strong of a word for Kodamas who are supposed to be mainly peaceful. Another word like "Squabble" or something similar would be more appropriate. But for marketing and comprehension purposes we chose this one, hopefully you like it! The name change is reflected in the current playtest version of the game. Except for the game files that will keep the old name for the duration of the playtest (if we change it everyone looses its save files). • Spirit Interlude Playtest is here, come try it out! - 23 June 2023

  Spirit Interlude Playtest is here with a LOT of new things, come try it out! How to access the playtest: Click on the "Request access" button on the game's Steam page. You will be added immediately to the playtesters and able to play. Lots of new stuff and changes in this new version of the game, here is a brief recap: - There are now 50+ Spirits available, including some with very funky abilities! - Roguelike mode is now the main mode. - With the roguelike mode comes a lot of mechanics/build possibilities and a lot more replayability. - Pace of games has been greatly quickened. - Projectiles/abilities of the Spirits are now much better looking. - Introducing: MEGA Spirits! Mega Spirits are a fusion between two spirits creating a very powerful unit. Difficult to obtain but very worth it! We worked a lot on all of this, and 50 Spirits is a lot to balance! • Little dev update - Playtest for the Roguelike mode before summer - 1 May 2023

  Little update. We are currently focusing our work on the Roguelike mode and will probably have a playtest for this before Summer. The designs and abilities of all the new Spirits are finished. And we are working on some interesting modifiers coming with the roguelike mode. One of them is the possibility to modify the droprate of the different unit tiers, enabling interesting builds. For example: A build that will try to stall the early game and then roll on the opponent when it arrives to the Golden phase and has a very high droprate for Golden phase units. • Cozy + Roguelike deckbuilder? - 20 March 2023

  Spirit Interlude mixes cute little spirits in a cozy environment with somewhat complex tactical gameplay. Some players enjoy more the chill cozy aspect and others the complex tactical part. For the Demo we tried to blend the two aspects into one progression path. But this compromise prevents both "cozy players" and "tactical players" to enjoy the game at its maximum. So we took the decision to basically split the game in two paths for the full release. One challenging path for the tactical players, with a roguelike deckbuilder aspect. And one chill path for cozy players where battles are easy but with facultative harder challenges. After the tutorial you will be able to choose one of the two paths (and of course will be able to alternate between the two paths whenever you want afterwards). • Demo - Tutorial Update - 3 March 2023

  Hey in this Demo update we reworked the tutorial to make it explain the game mechanics in a better way. So if you stopped playing halfway through the tutorial because it was too difficult to understand it might be worth it to give it another try! We also made small adjustments and added an indicator to show if the shop has similar spirits as the ones you already have on your board (easier to spot and make 2 or 3 Stars Spirits).
