  Survivors! We know many of you had August 21 circled on your calendars, ready to escape the summer heat with the launch of Permafrost Early Access. However, today we need to share the news that we are moving the Early Access launch to the 9th of October 2026. We want Permafrost to be the experience you deserve from the moment you step into the cold. To get there, we need a little more time to polish the rougher edges, character and animal animations and behavior, lighting, and the smaller details that make for a great time. We know a delay is never what you want to hear, and we're sorry to keep you waiting. But we'd rather let it chill a bit longer than serve up something half-frozen. The extra time will be worth it, and we can't wait for you to feel the frost. Thank you for your patience and for sticking with us.

  The wilderness in Permafrost isn’t empty. It’s home to animals that can help you survive or put you in serious danger.HuntingYou can hunt animals using almost any weapon you can get your hands on. Firearms, bows, and even tools like an axe or shiv can bring down prey. Getting close enough is often the real challenge, as many animals will flee at the first sign of danger.After a successful hunt, the work isn’t over.To properly harvest an animal, you’ll need a shiv. Skinning lets you collect valuable resources; nothing goes to waste.
