- Surprise - Exo Rally Championship is OUT NOW! - 7 June 2026
Hi folks,Well, somehow more than four years of development has passed, and Exo Rally Championship is out now! I started the game back in early 2022, not long after Exo One. I still wanted to keep exploring alien planets, movement, momentum, physics and traversal, but from a totally different angle. In Exo One you were mostly gliding and rolling over these worlds. With Exo Rally, I wanted to know what those alien surfaces would actually feel like if you had tires digging into them, suspension bottoming out, rocks trying to tear the rover apart, strange weather rolling in, and the planet itself generally doing its best to kill you.So the idea became: take proper, brutal off-road rally - Dakar, Baja, old dangerous motorsport, all that stuff - and throw it onto procedurally generated alien planets. No roads. No hand-authored racing line. No two stages quite the same. Just you, a stupidly pow…
- Release Nears: Demo Closing + New Playtest Rounds - 26 February 2026
Hi all, We’re going to disable the current Exo Rally Championship demo on Steam in the next 24 to 48 hours. The honest reason: the demo is getting old and it doesn’t ease players in as well as it should. Even with the tutorial, it still drops you straight into the fastest rover, and we’re seeing that leads to avoidable frustration and early quits. That’s not a great first impression, and it’s not representative of where the game (or onboarding) is at now. What we’re doing instead We’re close to release, so we want as many people as possible on the Steam Playtest. Over the next few weeks we’ll be inviting larger rounds of new testers to get fresh eyes on everything, and we’ll be pushing builds more frequently to get clearer feedback and better bug reports. Want to keep playing? - Request access to the Playtest on the Exo Rally Championship Steam page - Join the Discord (best place for te…
- Exo Rally, State of the Game, January 2026 - 31 January 2026
Welcome to the January 2026 Exo Rally update!Happy New Year! Aside from a nice break during the holidays, we’ve spent the last few months with our heads under the hood, upgrading the game engine to Unity 6, reworking the training flow, and implementing some fundamental changes to how races start and how rovers handle as we push towards release. Here are the highlights of what we've been up to since the Fusang reveal. The "Roll-Up" Start LineWe’ve upgraded the stage entry experience. Instead of simply spawning at the start line ready to go, players will now drive to the start line themselves during the intro sequence. This isn't just for immersion, it gives you strategic freedom. The start gates have been widened, allowing you to angle your rover to navigate the first checkpoint or terrain exactly how you want. You will have total control over your approach and positioning before the countd…

- Exo Rally, State of the Game, September 2025 - 20 September 2025
Welcome to the September Exo Rally update! We've been hard at work finishing one of the last (?) planets, Fusang, a volcano world. The current planet list now includes:- Dhool (meteor desert world)- Lunar (Earth's moon)- Tensei (strip mined, earth quake riddled planet)- New Earth (terraformed forest planet)- Fusang (volcano world) Hopefully we will still have time to add one last planet, but 5 is a decent start point at least for release.Fusang - Volcano WorldFusang is a tidally locked planet close to a binary star system, which causes a large heat gradient from the hot to the cold side, as well as extreme volcanism. It is on the more difficult end of the spectrum in Exo Rally, and features a much bumpier surface, lava river canyons, unexpected drop offs and an array of hazards. Careful speed management is more important here than anywhere else on the rally circuit.Lava BombsMost of the…
- Exo Rally, State of the Game, June 2025 - 6 June 2025
Welcome to the June Exo Rally update!Since it's been a little while, it's a big one! The current planet list now includes:- Dhool (meteor desert world)- Lunar (Earth's moon)- Tensei (strip mined, earth quake riddled planet)- New Earth (terraformed forest planet)...and we've recently begun work on a deadly volcanic world, "Fusang". Here's a look at both:New EarthNew Earth was seeded with trees and grasses from earth over the course of 100's of years, creating a green, earth-like forest-world.This planet is somewhat easy to drive with plains and rolling hills, but of course with densely wooded areas, destruction is always close at hand! Terraforming structures still dot the landscape, emitting gas that is still helping to fine tune the atmosphere - it creates dense blankets of cloud that completely block visibility. If in doubt, flat out?FusangFusang, a tidally locked planet in a system o…
- Exo Rally, 2nd Playtest Underway - 31 March 2025
Happy to announce development is proceeding well and we’re targeting mid this year for full release. If you’re a playtester, we have a new build now live for you to try! We're not yet decided on whether we will be adding more testers at this point. This is a fairly unstable, early stage, unbalanced build so please don't have super high expectations. There's a bunch of unfinished stuff in here! Would love your feedback on what is working, though! PLANETS Lunar This is a very, very low gravity body so traction is almost non-existent. It's a completely different driving feel, and requires copious RCS usage to stay grounded/upright. Tensei A 0.8x earth-gravity world, once a mining planet, now abandoned and eroding away over time. Extensive over-mining has caused constant planet-wide earthquakes, and these will cause traction challenges while racing. Due to the low temperatures, some ice lak…
- Exo Rally, State of the Game - Feb 2025 - 24 February 2025
Welcome to the first update of the year for 2025! Here's what we've been working on since the demo released at the end of last year (plus some other stuff given the demo update was a bit short!): Multi-Planet Series You'll be able to run a multi-planet series (Rally class only), individual rally events using one of 4 classes, daily online leaderboards using all classes, training and free-roam. All coming for Exo Rally Early Access. We're now racing on The Moon and Tensei These two planets are now fully playable within individual events and the series, with any of the below classes and have setups to cater for the different gravity levels and atmospheres. Rover Classes Early access will feature 4 classes. Here's some thumbnails for now, and we'll share full 3d renders and descriptions in the next update: Rally Class (the existing demo vehicle): the most powerful 6-wheel drive, a custom d…

- Exo Rally, State of the Game - July 2024 - 4 July 2024
Welcome to the July 2024 Exo Rally update! As we close in on the demo release, we've now opened up play testing on Steam, so go here and request access. We hope to open up access to a few hundred new people in the coming weeks! Industrial Planet WIP I've returned to this planet again this month and started adding dust drifts that form dunes and build up against structures. Also added scattered debris/concrete chunks for more interest/obstacles while racing. This planet is a research base constructed around monoliths that were originally found on the surface. An accident resulted in an explosion that scattered the power plants radioactive core across the map. Drivers will need to avoid prolonged close range exposure to the core and scattered radioactive debris. Still quite WIP: Earth's Moon WIP We quite like the idea of having one or two planets from our solar system, and Earth's moon is…
- Exo Rally, State of the Game - May 2024 - 14 May 2024
Welcome to the May 2024 Exo Rally update, here's what's been happening! Demo Incoming Super excited to share we will be releasing a demo soon! Exact date is still TBD, but it'll feature the start of the ‘story campaign' on Dhool (the meteor/dust world). You’ll be able to drive one rover class on one planet, and you’ll be able to race in daily stages and rallies and compete via online leaderboards. The dailies will be generated every day, so you'll have new stages to race and compete on for a long time to come! Dust/element accumulation work nearly finished Depending on Dhool's weather, this invasive nano scale dust will either clear off (rain) or build up (dust storm) and effect almost every system on your rover The main challenge with dust is accounting for degraded steering speed, RCS thruster strength and brake strength. This makes it much harder to react to sudden threats. Frequent…
- Exo Rally, State of the Game - March 2024 - 5 March 2024
First Exo Rally update for 2024, here it is! New Planet, “Tensei” Tensei (named “Start Planet” internally!) is essentially complete. It features mostly flat plains and rolling hills, nothing too harsh that you can smack into (just some fluffy ‘feather trees’), and both low gravity ~7m/s2 vs Earth’s 9.81 m/s2 and higher atmospheric drag (amplifies the low G feel) which generally means softer landings and lower speeds. Tensei is a salt rich environment, and drivers will want to try and steer clear of the sparkling copper-green salt fields and low hanging brine mist, else you’ll be spending a lot of time in service areas removing extreme salt build-up that can rapidly cause rust and damage half way through a rally. The idea for now is you’ll start your career on this planet (your team is kinda budget locked here), hoping for an invite into the wider Exo Rally Championship. So you’ll be abl…
- Exo Rally, State of the Game - Dec 2023 - 7 December 2023
We’ve got another Exo Rally update for you! Let’s get into it. Additional Game Modes Exo Rally Championship has procedurally generated stages - which make drone surveys and reactionary driving very important skills - but sometimes you want to compete against other players on the same stage. We’ve added some (in-world) sponsored events where players can compete for the fastest times: Daily Sprint Stage - for those looking for a fast race (estimated 1 - 2 minute stage) Daily Endurance Stage - try and keep it together over a guaranteed long stage for the fastest time (estimated 8 - 12 minute stage) Daily Ironman Stage - players only get a single chance at this stage, so make sure to use all 3 minutes of survey drone time to plan your route! A full rally event forces players to approach it differently to a single stage. The key is balancing your tires and rover’s damage over 7 stages. To th…
- Exo Rally, State of the Game - Nov 2023 - 3 November 2023
Welcome to the November Exo Rally Championship update! This month we’ve been working on a new planet and a more feature rich, more punishing damage system. There’s lots more damage types, like bent RCS thrusters/locked or destroyed brakes/snapped off suspension arms (you're really in trouble...) and even destroying your exterior camera link: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LnyfGx1YNF4 Industrial Planet While the majority of planets in Exo Rally will likely be natural, uninhabited worlds, the handful of monoliths scattered on Dhool made us feel that there was some serious fun to be had riding man-made walls and structures. Given how much verticality there is on this planet, objects to avoid, walls to ride, etc, we’re also using it as a test-case for quite low (almost .5 earth) gravity and high (3x?) atmospheric drag. So you’ll float a bit more and not reach such deadly falling velocities.…
