- QoL Update, New Good Bug, New Tank, and Special Announcement! - 20 February 2025
Hey, friends! There are a few updates in this patch that will hopefully make your experience in Buggburg even better. :) Also, if you hadn't heard yet... Bug & Seek is now available on mobile devices for both iOS & Google Play! Here's are the updates included in this build: Option to Turn On Interaction Emotes There's a new option in the Options menu to turn on Interaction Emotes. When turned on, you'll see an emote appear on your character when approaching an object that can be checked for a bug. This feature is automatic on mobile but optional for PC/Mac (coming soon to Switch). Sell Back Decor at Full Price Decor can be sold back to merchants at full price. There is an occasional bad bug where players are getting a storage tank when they attempt to buy something else. It'll take me a longer time to fix this, so in the meantime, you can just sell those tanks back at full price. :) Rop…
- QoL update + bad bug fix + new tank - 19 September 2024
Hey, friends! We've been working hard on the mobile version of Bug & Seek, and in the process were able to optimize/fix a few more things for Steam. Bad Bug Fix - In the stores, some people were experiencing the wrong item being bought or sold. This bad bug is inconsistent and so a bit tricky to nail down, but I suspect it was caused by some lag between selecting an item and the item display in the store window. I changed a few things with the store function to optimize and hopefully prevent this from happening in the future! The item selected will have its details displayed in that shop UI window, so that's the item that will be sold or bought when you hit the button. I made some minor optimizations to the code, but we also added the Joro Spider 🕷️ to the master list of bugs! The previous addition (in case you missed it) was the Giant Honey Bee 🐝. Your codex will tell you where all the bugs can be found, so check that for help in finding these two new bugs. :)

- Squashed a few bad bugs... - 28 June 2024
Fixed an issue where some wallpapers and flooring were disappearing. Fixed a couple of instances where the controller's cursor selection disappeared. Minor optimizations. - Controller Support polish + Windowed mode available - 29 May 2024
There are lots of small changes in this update, mostly related to controller support, as we had some more polish and improvements that we made for the upcoming NIntendo Switch release. I also changed the settings to allow for windowed mode. You can always go to fullscreen if you want, but this will allow players more flexibility. I updated the UI placement options so the popUps don't cover up UI elements in any position. I'll be working on another content update to be released in the fall, but I'm happy to continue fixing any (bad) bugs or minor QoL improvements as we go. - The Weevils have landed! - 26 April 2024
The Weevils are here! We had planned to release Monday, but we just couldn't help it! Testing is all done, and while the base game is still on sale, we decided, why wait? :) The Weevil DLC includes 20 new weevils scattered throughout Buggburg + a new Weevil category to master. Check your codex to see these new entries, complete with taglines, descriptions, and where to find them. Here's a sneak peek of just a few!

- Achievements Are Live + New (Good) Bug! - 2 April 2024
Achievements are here! We've got 37 possible achievements to go after, so start swinging that net. :) If you are starting a new game, you're good to go. If you are loading a previous save, it will look for achievements on load. There are four Achievements that couldn't be tracked retroactively: Bug Money Moneymaker Odd Company Peas in a Pod While I couldn't grab these on load, all four of these Achievements can be gotten in game even if you have already 100% completed it. If for some reason you want to reset your Steam Achievements and start again, you can do that in the Options menu. A bonus (good) bug that we added for this update: the Rainbow Grasshopper! Our email subscribers voted on this addition, so you can now find this colorful critter hiding somewhere in Buggburg. And if you want to join in on the next vote, you can do that here. - Load Time Optimizations - 22 March 2024
Under the hood optimizations to reduce load times. Thanks to our friends at 1PXL who are currently working on the Switch port, we were able to apply their changes to the Steam build as well! 👏👏👏 I've never seen it run this fast! :)

Just a few small changes in this update, but I hope they make your play experience much more enjoyable! - Improved load times between scenes - Fixed an issue where viewing your jobs shipping menu immediately before trying to sell a bug caused bugs in your inventory to be non-interactive. - Fixed some minor controller support issues. - Added function for the East button (B on xbox / O on PS) to close certain menus where possible/natural. - Get Kickstarter Rewards mid-game + Job Calculation changes - 12 March 2024
There's a lot of polish in this patch! Several *bad* bugs were squashed, and I made a few improvements to existing features. Here's what you can expect: Jobs are now calculated based on the bugs you ship (+ bonus coins), so the more expensive the bugs, the better your reward. It always pays better now to ship bugs in a job rather than sell them in the shops. Kickstarter rewards! We had originally set up the in-game rewards to be delivered at the start of the game, not realizing that many players would be loading demo saves and beta saves. Of course you don't want to scrap all your hard-earned progress! So now--if you've received and activated keys for your Kickstarter rewards--you can hit the pause button and see a big red button on your menu that says "Kickstarter Rewards." Click that button, and those items will be dropped right into your inventory. If you've already gotten those item…
- Cave Biome + 2 new Insectarium Upgrades! - 29 February 2024
The cave biome is here!! You may have already spotted the exit from the Buggburg Meadows. The entrance can be found...wait, no spoilers! But maybe check somewhere hot and dusty. ;) Along with the cave, you'll find three new bugs in your codex. AND you can upgrade your Insectarium two more times!! There's lots of new space for displaying your bugs! Also to note, we are in the process of optimizing things for our Nintendo Switch port, and there's still work to be done. - Patch Notes: 2 New Jobs - 24 January 2024
I just pushed a small update with one content update and a few optimizations. Here's what's new: 2 New Jobs - 2 new jobs are in the list and may appear when accepting jobs from the merchants. Jobs are chosen at random, so you may or may not see them right away. (They are for bugs in the Beach biome.) Steam Deck optimizations - On Steam Deck you can now see the full width of the Insectarium when in Build Mode. I adjusted the cameras a bit in the other scenes for Steam Deck's resolution as well. Other optimizations - Some small changes in the code that are probably not noticeable, but I try to do a little optimization where I can whenever I push an update! - The Isopod DLC is here! - 18 January 2024
The Isopod DLC is finally here! 20 new isopods, each with a unique silhouette, tagline, and description. We chose a wide variety of 'pods from all over the world to include in this pack. Catch them, name them, and put them on display on display in your Insectarium. Once installed, these lovable critters will be scattered throughout Buggburg, and you'll see some new codex entries at the end of your list. You will also notice the new mastery category in your journal. Good luck, and happy bug hunting!
- Controller Support + Steam Deck Playable! - 22 December 2023
We have just finished adding controller support for Bug & Seek--both the full game and the demo. And while we were working on that, Steam was reviewing the game for Steam Deck compatibility. We're happy to say that you can now experience Bug & Seek with either of these options! Note that our Store page will continue to say "partial controller support," as we do not have an on-screen keyboard for those instances where you name your bug or your Insectarium. You can use a regular keyboard for these things or skip them altogether. (I'm working on it this option for a future update!) For those jumping in with controllers who are past the initial tutorial in the game, when in doubt, press the East button--this will make your cursor appear if you don't see it immediately, or return it to the default position. 🙂 You can also exit most UI menus by pressing the North button.
