• delays (sorry lol) + cool news!? - 30 April 2024

  hi cool ppl who are following this project. wanted to keep folks in the loop with how things are going re: full version of Small Town Emo. bad news / delays etc: in order to get the game in a healthy spot we made the call to update from GB Studio version 3.03 to 3.21. this provided a bunch of bugfixes and new features ((mentioned here)) BUUUUUUT came at the cost of breaking a bunch of stuff!!! because this game is a part-time side project, lots of dev time has gone into fixing things, which has delayed the release goal. sadly there's still more *~elbow grease~* needed to get up and running again. PLUS there's a chunk of art that still needs art-ing, and some music that needs 2 b musicked... which brings us to our other (cooler) news: collabing w/ robot meadows + others: we're really excited to be commissioning some ~originale~ tracks from Robot Meadows 2 add 2 the awesome asset pack tra…

• NextFest: Devs Banter Stream - 10 February 2024

  It's STEAM NEXT FEST DEVELOPER LIVESTREAM TIME! For Steam Next Fest, Thomas and Nate from Fnife Games have prepared a semi-live ""Livestream"" of Small Town Emo, going over some behind-the-scenes details as well as general banter and tomfoolery! Thomas is the main creative lead behind Small Town Emo, and Nate is an editor/consultant for the project. This Livestream features authentic (as in: this is what we actually looked like) emo/teenaged photo avatars presented in an MSN Messenger style!!!   Edutainment Alert! On November 25 Small Town Emo was invited to exhibited at the inaugural Queer Indies Showcase, presented by IGDA, MidBoss and GaymerX! This live stream event spotlighted queer games alongside their creators in a showcase hosted by LGBTQIA+ Streamers and Influencers. The program closed with a panel discussion about queer representation in games and the games industry.   The Pavs (New Zealand Game Awards) are almost upon us, and Small Town Emo was nominated for four categories! What!? ABOUT THE PAVS: The Pavs are a celebration of Australia and NZ’s best and boldest game development achievements. Organised by the New Zealand Games Festival (NZGF), a grassroots not-for-profit whose purpose is to celebrate NZ and Australian games, and promote the industry as a “tool for social good and old fashioned fun”.
