Cerebral Puzzle Showcase is a celebration of puzzle games, curated and organised by puzzle lovers to help you find your next game. This year, Shards Between Us is back among another fantastic selection of thinky games. We’re so thrilled to be joining the celebration! - Shards Between Us at Game Developers Conference 2025 - 7 April 2025
The week of March 17th, our narrative designer/producer and lead artist headed to San Francisco for the Game Developers Conference! Our narrative designer was a Conference Associate, so they got to see some fun discussions throughout the week and meet a bunch of other cool Conference Associates. We even got to demo Shards Between Us in the GDC Conference Associate lounge! We also showed Shards Between Us that Tuesday at Beyond Pixels, an LGBTQIA+ GDC Mixer, organized by Qweerty Gamers, who provide LGBTQIA+ support and resources to marginalized gamers and devs. The organizers, devs, and everyone who stopped by were so sweet! - Quebec Games Celebration 2025 - 22 February 2025
Did you know that our Audio and Narrative Directors are both based in Montreal, Quebec? From February 17th - 24th, our plant-puzzler Shards Between us can be found in the 2025 Quebec Games Celebration! Organized by Indie Asylum, The Quebec Games Celebration is an annual highlight of our local games community and we are honored to included. The celebration features over 200 released and upcoming titles from Quebec's finest independent and AAA devs. As a studio focused on bringing diverse voices to games, you can find Shards Between Us in several of the event's spotlight sections featuring underrepresented developers. - Canada Media Fund Studio Spotlight - DemoNights 2025 - 20 February 2025
Tonight, February 20, 2025, around 8:30pm EST, our Co-Founder and Audio Director Nora Hébert will be speaking live on the Loto-Quebec Twitch channel for DemoNights! DemoNights is an annual event now co-produced by La Guilde du jéu video du Quebec and Loto-Quebec. It runs in tandem with the Quebec Games Celebration, from February 17-24th, and is a showcase of 15 games by Quebec developers. This year they selected Queensguard for one of three special spotlight interviews focusing on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, with support from the Canada Media Fund. The Storyteller's Festival is a celebration of the art of storytelling, featuring a wide range of visual novels and narrative games that showcase the best in interactive fiction. - Montreal Comiccon - Le Zone de Jeu Indie - 5 November 2024
Every year, Le Zone de Jeux Indie Loto-Quebec invites a selection of games to showcase on the expo floor of Montreal Comiccon…. and this year they chose Shards Between Us! Arka, Nora, and Elisabeth reunited (in-person for the first time since GDC!) and had a lovely time catching up while sharing our little plant-puzzler. With Comiccon attracting 65,000 of our closest friends, we spent three fan-packed days showcasing our demo, chatting with fellow developers, and admiring all the AMAZING costumes of attendees. - Develop Conference 2024 - 23 July 2024
Queensguard’s resident Animator and Artist, Charlotte, had the pleasure of attending Develop Brighton this year! Weather wise it was a mixed bag, but as an event it was a great time as always. This year, Queensguard showcased Shards Between Us at #RaiseTheGame’s Festival of Food Evening sponsored by UsTwo and Jagex. It was a real honour to be showcasing with the Code Coven booth where we represented Code Coven Alumni! The evening was amazing with so much delicious food! Pizza, Rice Bowls and Ice Cream Sandwiches all night… a Game Developer’s dream. After many fantastic meetups on the beachfront, including a quick dip in the sea with the good sunshine, we had a table at the Brilliant Indie Treasures Showcase! - Game Developers Conference 2024 & Level Up Gameplay Summit - 14 May 2024
Three of our team members went to the Game Developers Conference this past March: Arka Tu (environment artist/tech artist), Nora Hébert (audio designer/composer), and Elisabeth Rose Astwood (producer/narrative). We got to connect with so many wonderful and talented developers, especially while hanging out at the Yerba Buena Gardens! We also got to meet and talk with a bunch of publishers about Shards Between Us! While this wasn't technically part of GDC, we also showcased at the Level Up Gameplay Summit that Wednesday near the Moscone Center. Tons of people had the chance to try Shards Between Us, and so many loved the puzzles! Thank you to the organizers of both GDC and the Gameplay Summit! We had a lot of fun showcasing Shards Between Us alongside so many other talented indies!
- Pocket Gamer Connects: Very Big Indie Pitch - 2 May 2024
On the Tuesday of GDC 2024 this past March, we got to be a part of the Very Big Indie Pitch ! This is the first time that our environment artist has met our audio designer and producer in-person! We had a wonderful time meeting all the publishers and journalists, and we got lots of practice refining our elevator pitch for the rest of GDC. We also got to meet a few of the other developers pitching, and, afterwards, we met some of the developers tabling at Pocket Gamer Connects as well! Caroline Clark, our Game Director and Programmer, spoke at ThinkyCon 2024 about her top tips for programming indie thinky games. "Good coding means maximising my available working memory. Yet you might find that, as you take your three-day caffeine powered game jam project to being a fully fledged masterpiece, you have a sinking feeling that you're building it “wrong”, but you can’t figure out why or what to do about it. Caroline talks about the time sinks she's found in coding, give examples for common pitfalls and offers practical tips to help you make your indie games.
- Hamburg Games Conference - 25 March 2024
We had the incredible privilege of participating in Hamburg Games Conference, where over 2 days we exhibited and showcased Shards Between Us. As part of Indie Arena Booth Pitch Royal, Caroline Clark (our Game Director and programmer) pitched Shards Between Us in front of a jury of professionals. It was an honour to pitch our game and showcase alongside the other talented projects that took part. We had a great time meeting the other studios taking part, including the other pitch competitors Horizont Computergrafik and Roofkat, with their excellent games Escaping Atlantis and Rogue Voltage. - Rome Video Game Lab - 23 February 2024
We were kindly invited by Games London to attend the Rome Video Game Lab where, over 4 days, we exhibited and showcased Shards Between Us and represented the UK Cohort! It was a huge honour to be able to show our Plant Puzzler alongside so many amazing game dev projects. The event was bustling with Local Artists, Developers and Students. It was a great chance to connect with the local community and have so many different types of people playtest our game! We were really touched with all the positive and emotional responses and it was a real highlight of our year already to have taken part in such a wholesome and heartfelt event.
