- 1.2.4 Update - Saving and Loading Improved - 8 October 2025
Hey!While implementing the save system for Flufftopia, I noticed that I was doing it completely wrong. This is pretty much the same save system that I used since Bring Back The Sun. I always had a hunch that it was inefficient but it worked, soo ...Anyways, I decided to test it and the game didn't save every value once as it should but every value as often as the total number of values. Fight in the Arena has 34 values that are saved and these values were saved 34 times. Now it only saves the values one time. The same applied to loading. Thanks to extremely fast CPUs and SSDs this wasn't really noticed but still it's better to have it fixed.I started this update a couple of weeks ago and had some minor things fixed and put it aside to work on Flufftopia, but with these changes to saving and loading I think it's worthwhile to release it now.CheersDanielFull Changelog- Added an English se…
- 1.2.3 Update - Engine Update - 10 July 2025
Hey,Godot released a new version and I upgraded the game right away. I also did go through the text and improved a few sentences.CheersDanielFull Changelog- Upgraded to Godot 3.6.1- Changed four English sentences- Changed three German sentences
- 1.2.2 Update - Bigger Font! - 19 May 2025
Hey! I worked a little on a new update for Fight in the Arena when I saw that VSync wasn't enabled anymore. After 1.0.4 I deactivated it to test something and apparently I didn't reactivate it until now. So 1.1.0, 1.2.0 and 1.2.1 had all VSync deactivated which resulted in the game needing more resources than it should. This is fixed. I just started improving a few sentences but since so many people bought the game in the last couple of days (20+ at the time of this writing, thanks a lot!), I think I should release this update immediately. Aside of these changes, I also toyed with increasing the font size. The game is designed around the smaller font size but increasing it worked surprisingly well. You can change between the normal and bigger font in the settings. In longer story sections you now need to scroll through to read it all but I think it's well worth it. I hope you like it! C…
- 1.2.1 Update - Second Anniversary! - 20 February 2025
It's the second anniversary of Fight in the Arena! ːinclineː The game didn't get an update for the first anniversary but now there is one. Originally, I wanted to release the 1.2.0 version today but finished the update early and released it in the end of January. After that I took another look at the game and worked on this update. One thing that I changed to balance the game a little more is to increase the price of the best weapon in the game. A few improvements to the text were also made. Overall the game is slightly better. Hope you like it, thanks to everyone who bought the game in the last two years. Cheers Daniel Full Changelog - Increased the price of the best weapon in the game - Have a few increments instead of only one value when you try to haggle with the woman depending on your charisma - The sentence is altered a bit if you get the highest discount - Added a slightly alter…
- 1.2.0 Update - Easy Mode - 27 January 2025
Hey, right now I'm working on another project which I plan to release in the first half of 2025 but on the side I started in December to tinker with Fight in the Arena. The small update grew and grew and I thought about releasing it for the second anniversary of Fight in the Arena (20th February) but I think it is ready to be released and why wait? The 1.2.0 update fixes several bugs, improves the wording and adds an Easy Mode. Since the game doesn't really explain things, and you are forced to replay big sections when you die, and there is no meta progression system which eases things over time (like in A Legionary's Life), I thought it would be a good idea to let people play on Easy to experience the game and to try out different builds. You can still die on Easy but it should happen a lot more infrequent. On the technical side of things: I switched from Godot 3.5.3 to Godot 3.6.0 and…
- 1.1.0 Update - Ten Additional Sections! - 15 June 2024
Version 1.1.0! This time not only improvements but also new story sections. I wanted to make higher intelligence characters more viable and added a way to weaken the Indomitable for these characters. I retconned a minor part of the story: I left out a small part that the old Indomitable comes to the city and doesn't already live there since it didn't make sense with the new sections. Additionally there are also a couple improvements to the text. Enjoy! Full Changelog - Added 10 sections which add a way to weaken the Indomitable for higher intelligence characters - Changed the wording of a couple German sentences - Changed the wording of three English sentences - Took out a sentence which wouldn't make sense with the new sections - Added missing punctuation in two instances in the German localization - Added two missing German words - Fixed one typo in the German localization - Corrected…
- 1.0.4 Update - Improved Text Quality - 28 December 2023
Hey everyone, after I updated Sonucido: The Mage recently, it was time to improve Fight in the Arena. This update focuses on the quality of the text and fixes a lot of misspellings and improves the wording in some cases. The English localization got the most attention but the German localization also got better. While testing I also found a bug which decreased the amount of money you got after the last tournament. If you had played a higher charisma character in your previous playthrough and got more money from the sponsor in advance and started a new playthrough the game would not revert this specific variable. In your next playthrough with a lower charisma build you would get less advance but still get less after the tournament. This is fixed now. I also updated the underlying Engine from Godot 3.5.2 to 3.5.3! Full Changelog - Updated the Engine from Godot 3.5.2 to Godot 3.5.3 - Remov…
- 1.0.3 Update - German localization improvements and bug fixes! - 24 March 2023
Very soon after the last update, I found a few minor bugs which I squashed in about 15 minutes. I improved the German localization in many story sections, fixed a couple more bugs and worked on the 'You are worn out' message. Full Changelog - Fixed a bug regarding the start menu which would always be English even though you had a savefile with German language - Fixed another bug, the game wouldn't use your language choice if you just started the game, changed the language and then would continue (it would use the language saved) - Fixed a bug which would revert your portrait choice if it was higher than the array of female portraits (even if you played a male character) - this was done to address another bug but I didn't implement it right - Many improvements to the German text - A few improvements to the English text - Added missing text part in the fights - if your enemy or you fall u…
- 1.0.2 Update - German Localization, Text Improvements, Bug Fixes - 18 March 2023
Almost a month after the initial release, the German localization is finally available. But aside from the German localization the English text also got better and I fixed a few bugs! Full Changelog - Added the German localization - Many improvements to the text - Fixed a bug relating to the choosing of the portraits (if you choose a portrait number too high on the male side, got back into the menu then chose a female character, no portrait would be loaded) - Updated the Godot Engine from 3.5.1 to 3.5.2 - Fixed a minor bug were an option was shown at a too low amount of money (at 40 instead of 50 coins) - Added missing option to a situation even though it is unlikely to be used - If you damage the armor, the damage dealt isn't random anymore. Also, it is higher on average - Added 100 missing coins to the code - Fixed a money amount which was set too low - After one story section two pat…
- 1.0.1 Update - Custom Portraits! - 25 February 2023
The German localization is not ready yet but I thought it would be better to release an update before it is ready, so you can get your hands on a more polished version right now. I fixed a few bugs and improved several text passages. While localizing the game, I obviously need to read the English version once more and changed/corrected quite a few sentences. I mostly improved the first 40 sections because I only got so far in localizing. I think the German localization should be done next week, I certainly need to be a bit faster. One player requested a feature for Sonucido: The Mage, my previous game - a custom player portrait. The game does not feature a player portrait normally but I implemented it anyways. Since I already had the code I reworked it to fit Fight in the Arena and you can now have custom player portraits and custom enemy portraits! Just add player0.png in the game fold…
