(and follow the Fullbright Newsletter for updates all along the way right in your inbox!) but here's the rundown: Springs, Eternal is a lo-fi (”Dreamcast-era” or maybe late-’90s PC graphics) first-person story exploration game (”walking simulator”) that takes place at a secluded hot springs in the dead of night. - Fullbright Presents TOILET SPIDERS has hit 1.0! - 27 November 2024
They're out of Early Access, y'all... Since the initial Early Access release, the first entry in the Fullbright Presents series of short, strange games now features a new intro and ending sequence, new notes to find and Achievements to achieve, plenty of bugfixes and performance improvements, new spooky scare moments, more usability and controller features, and... Commentary Mode?! https://store.steampowered.com/app/3098700/Fullbright_Presents_TOILET_SPIDERS/ I'm excited to bring this weird game out of Early Access with the 1.0 Update. Here's the latest in Version 1.0: Randomized Scripted Scare Moments: The spiders have escaped their toilets... Players have requested more life to the facility in between bathrooms, so as of v1.0, you may now encounter unexpected events during your playthrough. Keep your eyes peeled... Along with the controller vibration that was added in the last update,…
- A New Fullbright Game is Available... Right Now!! - 17 October 2024
It’s in Early Access for just $5.99— with a launch discount of 17% off, and an additional discount if you complete the Fullbright Collection bundle! In the Summer issue of the Fullbright Newsletter (which you should sign up for if you haven’t!), I introduced the concept of Fullbright Presents: an ongoing series of small, strange, lo-fi games I'm producing as a solo developer, to be released into Steam Early Access as they roll off the production line. And now, just a few short months later, here it is! This isn't a super-rough alpha Early Access launch either, the game is actually a pretty polished version of itself. There's a little more in the way of features and content to add, balance to improve, and bugs you'll help me find that I'll need to fix, but really at its heart this is the game as it's intended to be played. So, what is this game you might ask? Perhaps the real place to be…

- Gone Home dev Steve Gaynor is now running Fullbright on his own - 12 May 2023
Gone Home and Tacoma co-creator Steve Gaynor announces that he is now operating the indie game developer Fullbright solo and working on a new game. Open Roads, which was previously under production at Fullbright, is now being worked on by a separate, dedicated team, under the publisher Annapurna, as Gaynor, who co-created Gone Home in 2013, says that his "strengths do not lie with attempting to manage a large project or direct the work of others." - Allegations of 'toxic culture' at acclaimed indie studio Fullbright - 5 August 2021
Steve Gaynor, co-founder of Fullbright, is no longer creative lead or manager on its current project, Open Roads, though he remains involved as a writer. A report published by Polygon claims that Gaynor was a "controlling" and "demeaning presence" who saw himself as embodying the studio, and who ultimately drove away multiple employees—especially women... Gone Home makes Edge Magazine's list of "The 12 Games that Defined the 2010s!" https://cdn.steampulse.org/steam/asset?u=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcdn-a.akamaihd.net%2Fsteamcommunity%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fclans%2F32980586%2Fc4a5b20291dd7259fd592998de8c8bdedef149e8.jpg 2019 is coming to a close, and with it the end of a decade. - Minor patch, big in size! - 6 November 2019
Hey all! We're rolling out a patch to Gone Home that should have no noticeable impact on most users-- aside from a large patch download size! The new version of the Mac OS has security requirements that require an update to a newer version of the Unity engine, which is what this patch is all about. We're updating the game to a more current version of Unity on all OSes, which unless we missed something, should just mean the game is exactly the same, but maybe running a little smoother... and doesn't throw a security warning on Mac. Oh, we also took the opportunity to improve support for Dualshock controllers, and clean up a couple other very minor bits and bobs. The big download size is just because an engine version upgrade this big kind of touches every part of the game, meaning Steam couldn't chunk it down into a smaller patch for y'all. The Windows update is available now; Mac and Li…
- Gone Home is free to keep on Humble Bundle right now - 27 April 2019
Narrative-driven exploration game Gone Home , which is still one of the best indie games on PC , is free on the Humble Bundle right now. Gone Home is one of the 60+ titles in the Humble Monthly Trove, a bank of games that are available to all Humble Monthly subscribers. Occasionally, one of these games gets given away free for a limited time, and Gone Home's number has been called—you can download it here until May 5 . You'll need to login to your Humble Bundle account first, but after that you'll get a DRM-free copy of the game, meaning you'll be able to launch it directly from your desktop rather than going through a launcher. In Gone Home, you explore a detailed house to learn about the lives of the people that lived there. It's more than five years old, but it's still worth playing because of its touching story: you can read our review from the t…

- An ode to video game doors - 11 December 2018
It's easy to underestimate the humble door. You open it, you go through. Sometimes, you must find the key first, and for many games, that's the whole extent of the player's interactions with doors. They're something to get past, something that cordons off one bit from the next bit. A simple structural element, of special interest to level designers, but not the ones who turn the knobs. And yet, the fundamental nature of doors that makes them seem so mundane also imbues them with a kind of magic. How do I open it? And what could be behind it? A good door is a locus of challenge and mystery; mystery that could give way to delight, wonder, or even a good scare. A good door is a teasing paradox that does everything in its power to entice and invite, but also puts up a decent effort to keep you out, at least long enough to intrigue and fire up your imagination. Some games highlight the versa…

- Gone Home moves to Nintendo Switch next week - 15 August 2018
UPDATE 23/8/18: The Fullbright Company's critically acclaimed narrative adventure Gone Home has been delayed on Switch. The game was originally due to launch on Nintendo's platform today, August 23rd, but is now scheduled for release on September 6th. Although publisher Annapurna Interactive offered no explanation for Gone Home's last minute delay on Switch, it did rather enigmatically note in its announcement tweet that it "might have some additional news to share" on launch day. How mysterious! ORIGINAL STORY 15/8/18: Gone Home is the latest indie game port due for release on Nintendo Switch, publisher Annapurna Interactive has announced. Read more…
- Gone Vroom is Gone Home but you are a car for some reason - 8 July 2018
There’s not much of a need to add to this news hit. Today, on the ole Itch.io site, I stumbled upon yet another great Ludum Dare 41 entry. If you remember, 41’s theme is two game genres that should not be compatible. Jon Remedios took this to one of its most bizarre conclusions: that the walking simulator genre requires a good driving simulator that is not, itself, a driving simulator but rather a walking simulator where you are a car. If you think it sounds like that might not work, well, you’d be right. Especially if that car if forced to experience life trapped within the walls of the rural Oregon home of the Greenbriar family. That’s right. It’s Gone Home but you’re a car. You’re a car in the Gone Home house. Welcome to Gone Vroom . (more…)

- Twitch Prime's games for May include Psychonauts, Gone Home - 30 April 2018
Twitch has revealed the line-up of games that Twitch Prime members will receive as part of their subscription in May, including Psychonauts and Gone Home. Neither of those headliners likely need much introduction but, as a refresher, Psychonauts is Double Fine's inimitable brain-probing 3D action platformer - a classic that still hasn't lost its power to amuse and delight , some 13 years after it first released. Gone Home, meanwhile, is developer Fullbright's fiercely atmospheric, but unquestionably divisive, exploration of family life and family strife - as told in walking simulator form. That one didn't resonate with Eurogamer editor Oli Welsh back in 2013 as much as it did for others . Read more…
- Patch for minor bugfix - 24 April 2018
Hi all! Just a quick note. We found that in the prior update we released, a graphical bug was introduced where a texture showed up as missing. We've submitted a small patch to address this issue. Everything else should be the same, but as usual, if you have any issues with this patch, please report it in the Technical Support subforum! Thank you! https://steamcommunity.com/app/232430/discussions/1/
