  One of the most famous cases of someone being condemned for suggesting that the Earth is not the center of the universe is that of Galileo Galilei. Galileo, an Italian astronomer, physicist, and mathematician, lived in the 16th and 17th centuries and is known for his support of the Copernican theory, which proposed that the Earth and other planets revolve around the Sun, rather than the Earth being at the center of the universe. Galileo's ideas were controversial and challenged the prevailing religious beliefs of the time. In 1632, he published a book called "Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems," in which he presented arguments for the Copernican theory.
