• Future plans for Treacherous Journeys - 11 November 2025

  Hello Everyone! This spring we announced our plans to let the world of Thile be defined more by original fantasy based on Nordic trollfolk and folktales, rather than it being a generic Tolkien/DnD world of goblins and orcs. We were already starting down that path with the new elven starting area and the trollfolk bestiary which we had started on, but it became clear to us that a more thorough rethink of the game would be needed. Current resources don't allow doing the game justice, and as the idea for another, slightly smaller scoped, game materialized we decided to shift our focus to that for the time being. I want to make it clear that this is not a goodbye to Treacherous Journeys - a game near and dear to my heart - and that it is still part of the long term vision for Dire Prism.But I'm afraid that it isn't the game we should be making right now. • Troll Folk of Thile - 28 March 2025

  Much of the world of Thile currently holds quite generic D&D / Tolkien monsters, such as goblins and orcs. Treacherous Journeys is meant to be more than that, and have a stronger direct European folklore influence. The new elven starting area last year was the first part of this development, and now it will soon be time to meet more of the troll folk of Thile. And this time, by troll folk we mean actual trolls! Still in a concept phase, these creatures will vary a lot in appearance and temperament. Also - in an upcoming patch not too far into the future it might be worth it to take another look at Ynna's well :)

• Custom Characters, Development Focus - 21 October 2024

  Custom Characters A couple of different character assets have been used for Treacherous Journeys through its development, and although they're nice I've always wanted custom player characters rather than stock assets. Finally I can announce that a pair of custom characters which the team has been working on for a while are now almost ready! In fact, they're already released in the playtest, but the female is still missing her texture. Our texture artist is on the case though, and it won't be long before she will be ready too! Masteries and Skills Apart from creating the custom player characters and putting them into the game for you all to see, serious work is now being done on the mastery classes along with an assortment of skills to go with them. It's still too early to share much, but I think you will all be pleasantly surprised!

• New Pre-Alpha Playtest, introducing the Cairn Keepers, folklore - 7 March 2024

  Become a Cairn Keeper in Treacherous Journeys! The Wanderers' Circle, the ancient order to keep the paths safe, has seen decline with the rise of kingdoms. But as the old cairnstones are neglected along with the connection to the spirit world, old fears are now becoming real. Along with some new ones. A brand new starting area with a stronger folklore theme needs testing. If you have played before please try with a new character. PS: There are rumors the lightning spell has been changed... Whether you've tried the game in the past or have just learned of Treacherous Journeys, your input is very important!   I'm putting the last touches on a playtest event to go live March 1, which will feature more influence from folklore and fairytales. But don't worry - the goblins aren't going anywhere! • Happy New Year from Treacherous Journeys! - 19 January 2024

  Happy New Year everyone, and thank you for following the development of Treacherous Journeys! Last year we had 2 rounds of open playtest, and the current playtest is still open to new plaers, so if you didn't try it yet don't hessitate to request access, which will be automatically granted! Since then work has continued - some issues raised during playtest have been addressed, and autogenerated dungeons have been prototyped. It's still some time away from being done, but it might be possible to discover the portal to the prototype already! Currently the focus is on the experience for new players, and on making the identity of the game more apparent. Rats, spiders and goblins are here to stay, but you will soon be seeing more beings from European folklore, so tread lightly! • Treacherous Journeys Prealpha Playtest - 17 June 2023

  Hi all! The Online Action RPG Treacherous Journeys has been playtested and showcased a bit on other platforms, but now it's time for a proper playtest. Therefore I invite all of You to join the first public pre-alpha playtest right here on Steam, where you will get a chance to experience the beginning of the game in its current state and I will get a chance to get valuable feedback! If you have tested this game before then I encourage you to try it again, since many changes have been added since.
