  Hi! This is Ryan Moriya from the 8LEGS unit. I wish to say thank you to everyone who helped to make my start great for both Drift Abyss and my entire career as an indie developer! It's wonderful seeing my three-year long passion project finally taking shape for people to enjoy (potentially). I don't know if being a "terrain gen fanatic" is a common thing, but I was definitely one back in 6th grade. I saw so much potential for solving many typical issues that VR experiences at the time faced: limited, artificial feeling spaces. I believed (and still believe!) that terrain generation, if perfected, can create experiences that feels genuinely open, free, and natural. I also believe that a natural world does not have to be "realistic" and bound to common Earthling norms; it just has to have a set of rules that make sense.
