The mastermind behind Balatro , LocalThunk, shared a much clearer look at what is coming in the long-awaited 1.1 update and its a big one. Balatro ‘s 1.1 update has been relentlessly teased by the game’s creator , LocalThunk, for over a year, and today the Joker maker finally uncorked some of what’s to come in the next update. While new Jokers are certainly coming (including Drawn-to-hand-drawn ones) the new additions go beyond expanding Balatro ’s gallery of Jokers. This time, the update is not a calendar . LocalThunk is also changing how Vouchers can appear, separating new content from balance changes through an optional profile setting, and making it so each game has a fallback option if mods are installed. Sorcerous cardgame Balatro and slot machine RPG Luck Be A Landlord have been reclassified as fit for people aged 12 years and over by the Pan European Games Information board, after they were initially slapped with an 18 rating for "glamorising... the simulation of gambling". PEGI have made the change following a successful appeal against the 18 rating by Balatro's European publisher Sold Out and Luck Be A Landlord's Switch publisher Fangamer. They're also going to develop "a more granular set of classification criteria" for games that reference gambling, to distinguish jingling parodies of rentier capitalism from the one arm bandits found in actual casinos. LocalThunk statement I wanted to give an update on the Balatro localization project. We recently started using Crowdin to help improve the localization of Balatro - both by allowing suggested changes to our existing languages and to add new languages suggested by the community. We received a ton of requests to add these new languages but I messed up thinking that this would be okay to delegate to the community. After seeing the response to this, I know now that we made a few mistakes. We never intended to use this platform as a cost saving measure and were primarily concerned about giving players a better tool to contribute feedback on our existing paid translations. Having players translate new languages was also a mistake, that job should have gone to a localization agency.
