- WIP Wednesday: The Enforcers - 16 September 2026
Enjoy this time lapse of the Enforcers by our senior 2D artist Miłek. This WIP Also features two new tracks by our composer Goodmalware. Dust to Dust Always a King Giovanni Ricci’s Men: The EnforcersGiovanni Ricci tolerates many things. Theft from his pocket is not one of them. His men are seasoned mercenaries from Venice, Zadar and the lands surrounding the Adriatic, brought north to protect their master's person, merchandise and business interests. They wear fine Italian armor and carry equipment beyond the means of most common fighting men.Their purpose extends beyond guarding Giovanni. The lists leave behind dead men, and dead men leave behind valuable arms and armor. Giovanni expects such goods to pass through the proper hands. A fighter who occasionally takes something from the fallen may escape his attention. One who grows wealthy by systematically stripping corpses will not.Once G…

Gamescom went amazing, thank you all who were able to attend and drop by! This week for our WIP post we have another alla tedesca cuirass, built based on reconstructions of similar cuirasses. This one is more of a south German style made in Italian workshops. We are working hard on the next update and are excited to show you what's next when it is ready.

- WIP Wednesday: VFX/SFX showcase - 19 August 2026
A treat from our VFX/SFX masterminds, GalaxyHighMarshal & Melqo. To start, we have a warm fire with ember crackles. We can use these for a few things, like a campfire, a destructive fire spreading, or burning Willie...Water sprays for leaks, putting out fires, or to cool off Willie…Last but certainly not least, newly overhauled weapon-impact sparks. These have GPU-physics-driven smoke emitting from the intense spark heat, and the smoke reacts to the light from the environment. Neat!

Cuirass criers, rejoice!A Germanic cuirass seen in Polish art. Its design is inspired by several East European and some North German depictions of similar large breastplates on cuirasses. No exact surviving examples exist, so it is an interpretation of an interpretation, re-created in 3D.
- WIP Wednesday - 5 August 2026
Do not fret friends, we have many more Cuirasses to spoil you with. This week, however, we thought we would share some coming mace designs.Bauer: a small one-handed war pick/mace hybrid found in German speaking lands as well as in Bohemia.Pasieka: a cube-headed mace, found all around from Germany, Poland, Bohemia and all the way to Hungary.Becker: this is more of an war weapon, usually seen on longer shafts. More of an battlefield weapon than civilian self defense.Gortz: a more compact war pick than Bauer and Laval. Found in manuscripts and paintings from around the German-speaking lands.Weber: this is a morning star. Against popular belief, it is not a flail. Paired with a studded shaft.Laval: another war pick/mace with a short pick and seemingly 4 fingers holding small dagger. Do not be fooled, all five fingers are there. More of a west European design.Bednarz: one of the more common…
- WIP Wednesday - 29 July 2026
A sleek design, this German cuirass features both the back and front plates formed from a single piece of steel. It is based on manuscripts depicting similar cuirasses. This could potentially have been a munitions cuirass used in the northern parts of Germany and Pomerania. No surviving examples are known.

This week we have some unique swords to showcase, which is your favorite? Ratkovic: A Slavic type of sword, featuring the "Schiavonesca" cross guard and typical pommel. popular amongst mercenaries from Slavic lands, Balkan lands and around the Kingdome of Hungary. Hagenbach: A German type of one and a half handed sword, with swirled guard and two part grip featuring leather and rope in red colors. Wildschweinmesser: A combination of German and French parts, a great sword with metal chappe (The piece above the guard that protects the blade while the sword is sheathed). Rechberg: An estoc style weapon, using a sharp and pointy guard as well as a red string grip with a more cylindrical grip. Schwarz: This blade is of German design, featuring a simple leather grip with string attached at the connection around the pommel. Another Italian export; this cuirass is based on the oil painting Saint George the dragon slayer by Friedrich Herlin, ca. 1460.The cuirass is of an alla tedesca design, probably originating in south Germany around 1460-1470. It features longer foulds than what we see in later cuirasses of a similar style of alla tedesca cuirasses. An elegant piece befitting a richer lord or knight.

- Hotfix 1 for 0.6.1.4 - New combat scenario & bugfixing - 30 June 2026
Hey hey hey! Just like the last time we have uploaded a bit outdated version of patch (new one was sent to testing when this one was uploading) So lets call THIS patch 0.6.1.4.(1) I will write all the changes for 0.6.1.4 and 0.6.1.4.(1) here together:Tweaked bone snapping, should be much more stable. Not completely stable, naturally, its Half Sword after all. But much betterAdded Bone Fragility slider to Gore Setting. It affects both bone dislocation and breaking bones by impact. Turning it down completely will turn off bone snapping, while "bone breaking" will be just twice harder. Turning it up to the max will give you glass bones. EnjoyAdded Greatswords! You can craft them in Swords tab. Available size of the sword depends on your rank. Greatswords will also spawn starting from Veteran Tier (rarely on Soldier Tier)Added Longswords and Arming Swords to spawn list on Commoner tierAdded…

- Expectations for Update 0.6.2 - 26 June 2026
Patch 0.6.1.3 is out, and with it we will probably finish working on 0.6.1 and switch our attention to 0.6.2. We have several huge features planned for the next big update, so it might take some time again. That doesn't mean that we will not throw in some small weapon and armor updates while you are waiting. We might, if it takes too long. We hope that with the 0.6.1 set of updates we managed to regain some of your trust and that you enjoy playing Half Sword again. Letting you down is the last thing we want. Now I want to speak a little bit personally, not as a team representative, but as someone working on the main project of his life (so far). I hate apologizing and always prefer to actually do something meaningful instead of just saying I'm sorry. The 0.6.1 update, for me, is a way to apologize for the rough launch of Early Access, and I wanted it to be as good as possible. I underst…
- 0.6.1.3 Hotfix 1 - 26 June 2026

Still be careful when picking up heavy objects, Heads meshes clipping fixed, Match setup on Begin Play was flawed, respawnable objects spawned too late, you could fall through bridge if the bridge was broken in previous round, stuff like that. Also Level loading is a bit faster., Fixed some issues with sheathing/unsheathing weapons. Including breaking limbs in process., Unknown force pulling a body on torso dismemberment partially fixed, should happen less., Barrels being unbreakable with weapons fixed, All armor materials and color available at Armorer despite the rank fixed, Breaking limbs by just grabbing should happen less, Also things not included in previou…

Planning to add ability to tear them off as wellNeck grab doesn’t snap from so far. Now you can grab heads again if you aim wellMade body slamming make more damage. Using other Willie’s as weapons, using their severed arms and legs to bonk their friends, and ramming them: all of this is much better at cost of their bodies doing damage to you as wellAI self preservation should be better. - Work In Progress(WIP) Wednesday - 24 June 2026
WIP Wednesday has returned begun on Steam! We are returning to our weekly WIP posts. This content was previously not posted on Steam prior to Early Access Release. Starting off we have a German cuirass. With no surviving examples, we modeled this piece based on wood sculptures and manuscripts from northwestern German regions as well as the south Flemish areas close to German speaking lands and the Hanseatic regions. This piece also shows up in some Scandinavian altarpieces and woodwork of soldiers c. 1460-1470.
