  • New devblog post: Rebuilding Hayaku in Unity - 18 September 2026

The second devblog post is up, and this one is about tools. When we decided to move Hayaku from Construct to Unity, I started rebuilding the levels by hand. Tile by tile, copying decisions Ezequiel had already made years ago in the other engine. I got two rooms in before I accepted that the whole game was never happening that way. So I wrote an importer to read Construct's level files and place the tiles for us. Construct saves that data as strings like 23x0,4x85,15x0,14x85, which is genuinely useful information if you already know what it means. I did not know what it meant. By the end of 2025 the situation was untenable and we took the decision every developer fears in public and dreams about in secret: porting everything to Unity. That was nine months and 1,700 commits ago. At least thirty of those commits are called "fix". One is called "fix fix". We don't talk about that one.The hard part was not the code, it was the feel: making the new version mov…
