- Rayman's 30th birthday prompts Ubisoft to fish out login deets for the first time in years, reaffirm they're working on his future - 2 September 2025
February 1st, 2021. Until yesterday, that was the last time Ubisoft had posted anything on the official Rayman Tweeter account. That outstanding streak has been broken because the platforming series has turned 30, promting the publisher to reaffirm that a team of devs is still busy working on Rayman's future, with news to come, er, not very soon. Before you shout at me for writing about a games company posting that, yes, they still plan to make video games in the future, this is also a chance to highlight Rayman Alive 2025 , a pretty hefty community showcase of fan projects helping to keep the aged limbless being's legacy alive. - Ubisoft threatened to remake the hardest game I played as a kid, but axed it - 18 August 2025
"Hi, folks! You wanna know what's going on?" If a cold bead of sweat just ran down your forehead in response to reading this, you'll already know what's up. The original 1995 Rayman is, categorically, one of the toughest games of its era; its cutesy kid-friendly art style belying its diabolically hellish platforming. It walked so Hollow Knight's Path of Pain could run (or nail jump). Well, as it turns out, Ubisoft nearly inflicted a remake of the all-time classic on a new generation of unsuspecting tykes, until it was quietly shelved in 2021. Read the rest of the story... - Rayman Legends is one of Ubisoft's best games, and now there's reason to return - 12 April 2025
Rayman Legends is one of those videogames I constantly find myself returning to. I'll jump back in multiple times a year to start a fresh save and swiftly remember why I fell in love with it in the first place. Ubisoft's platformer is by far my favorite entry in the genre, even over a decade since launch. If you've never played it, not only does it have some of the freshest ideas you've ever seen, but it's also jam-packed with content. Now's the perfect time to try it, too, as Ubisoft adds Legends to the ever-growing list of its games with Steam achievements. Read the rest of the story... - Rayman Legends is currently free on the Epic Store - 29 November 2019
Ubisoft's sublime platformer Rayman Legends is currently free to download on the Epic Store. Granted, you might already be up to your nose-pits in free games by this point, slowly sinking beneath the unstoppable deluge in flailing terror, but there's no denying that Rayman Legends is a worthy addition to any collection, even if it did come out 2013. Unsurprisingly, Rayman Legends has much in common with its delightful predecessor Rayman Origins, dressing up the series' classic 2D platforming with some breathtaking presentational trimmings. Quite aside from its gorgeous facade though, Rayman Legends is a wonderful, ceaselessly inventive thing ( this is still one of my favourite bits of video game silliness ever). Read more

- The fraught world of buying a game for an 11 year old - 23 August 2017
Somehow, in gaming’s fourth decade, we’re still endlessly confronted by the peculiar mainstream misconception that video games are meant for children. The peculiarity that this myth maintains is outright ludicrous at this point, because gaming itself is now mainstream. Sure, in the early ’90s you could forgive a confused aunt for not realising that cartoony console games like Mario and Sonic had broad appeal, and we’re the totality of the medium. Now? Now it’s a bit odd. Not least because it’s still not that simple to find a good new game for children. (more…)
- Have You Played Rayman Legends? - 24 March 2017
Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time. 2013 s Rayman Legends is the most recent game I ve been playing with my three-year-old daughter, and by playing I mean she watches me play while asking approximately 80 Why? questions per minute. …
- Where DRMs Come True: Ubisoft Opening Theme Park - 8 September 2015
Haven’t you always wanted to meet Sam Fisher and take home a photo of him pretending to snap your neck? Why not bungee from a Venetian rooftop into a haystack (don’t worry, it’s not real hay!)? Dare you ride a rollercoaster named Uplay? All these dreams and more may very well – let’s say it: will almost definitely – come true, as Ubisoft have announced plans to open a “next-generation theme park” in Malaysia. That “next-generation” bit has caused some confusion in the RPS treehouse, but we think we’ve cracked it. Read on for our ideas: …

- Wot I Think: Rayman – Legumes - 12 September 2013
Rayman: Legends Legumes is the sequel to the unexpectedly brilliant Rayman: Origins Oranges. The latter, starring a character that I had little interest in and whose style of running and jumping didn’t seem particularly suited to the PC, was one of my favourite games of last year. With that in mind, I approached Legumes without any prejudice but instead with a deep-seated cynicism. I am nothing if not my doubts. But is this a rushed and inconsequential sequel or another platforming classic? Here’s wot I think. (more…)
