- Bug fix for crash when completing game + graphical fix - 28 December 2025
Quick note. We were made aware that the game crashes at the exact moment you complete the game. That should be fixed now. Also, the final battle had some graphical issues with displaying correct animations. Fixed as well in the same update.
- Just welcoming all the new players! - 21 December 2025
Hi all new players!I just wanna say it's wonderful to see so many of you giving the game a try. We really wanna hear all your feedback, good and back. So if you play for a few hours, please either leave a review, or a comment in the discussion board. Also, the instruction booklet tends to get overlooked. It's got some extra story bits, and maybe explains more weird mechanics in a way you'll find easier to understand? Maybe not.https://takunomi.space/documents/The%20Girl%20Who%20Kicked%20a%20Rabbit%20-%20Instruction%20Booklet.pdfMerry Christmas, everyone!Sketchwhale
- "... Through Time" Update! - 29 September 2025
Hi Kids! Do you like free updates? We're pretty stoked about this one. It's about adding new cool stuff, and trying to alleviate some of the difficulties people have had:RANDOMNESS MAKES THE GAME TOO DIFFICULT. This one we handled in the previous update:Instruction booklet direct link:https://takunomi.space/documents/The%20Girl%20Who%20Kicked%20a%20Rabbit%20-%20Instruction%20Booklet.pdfRANDOMNESS MAKES THE GAME TOO EASY. Now we get into the new stuff. Almost all world two levels get additional objectives to prevent you from winning through sheer dumb luck.We also made some fun new stuff!Added a new move that does good and bad things at the same time for World 4 (and a bit in world 3). This one is kinda stupid, but the level where you have to use it is fun.Added piercing null pyres to all world 2 levels and up. These are game changing! If you see a black puddle with a red tinge, it's one…
- Instruction Booklet is here! And plans! - 8 August 2025
Hello everyone!I wanna discuss some thoughts about upgrades we're planning.Players have spoken about issues with the randomness of the game. On the one hand, they might win too fast, because just the right stuff became available, or fights drag on because they never get the drops they need. Now, I can't fundamentally change how the game works, but I can try to alleviate these two problems.Win too fast:I believe adding an extra goal to the Douse levels will fix this. This will be added in a future update, including other Goodies(TM)!Win too slow:This one is more tricky. From the feedback I've seen, it seems that players who experience battles dragging out, might also not quite understand the systems of enemies spawning and the ability to observe what upcoming enemies are holding. We COULD seriously expand the tutorial to really hammer home this concept. When we showed the game at game con…
- "... And Another one!" Update - 1 June 2025
Surprise, Everyone! We have an update 🎉 Of course we were gonna continue fixing patches either way, but I realized, once a game is done, if you want to make extra content, that's just gravy, right? Who doesn't love gravy? We're adding a bonus level that requires you to find all the previous secrets. The new level has a new item (The Squirt Stone 💦 🪨), a new enemy (The Fanatic 🐰 🔥), new rabbit world lore (👩🏼🐇🪱), and is just bonkers full of mechanics. It definitely takes some effort to access, and is a bit of an ordeal to beat, so if you love these puzzle battles like we do, we think you're gonna have a real fun time. Have fun!
- Patch for version 1.2 - 27 March 2025
A bunch of little improvements. I personally like the new controller button icons a lot, and hope you all try it out with a nice gamepad in hand Prophecy Prism and Coal new have correct confirmation box descriptions. Coal and Gods' Wine are no longer limited by having full shield Several crashing bugs fixed New icons for controller buttons Implemented ttf font instead of bitmap font. The biggest change is the new ttf font. Sure, it allows kerning, and that's nice (I mean it looks REAL good), but the actual advantage is that we can slowly translate the game into languages with other character sets (we have the intro in Japanese in a secret branch!). Dunno if that'll ever happen, but at least now we can!
- Patch 1.1 - 11 March 2025
Thank you everyone who played the game so far! And thank you to those of you who left reviews. It's absolutely the best feedback to fix and improve the game, even though it's ostensibly done. We love to talk to you guys about the game, so please tell more people about it, or give us more feedback. Fixes and Changes Saving system is fixed (if you crash, the game saves correctly while moving around on world map, and after completing levels. Lore scenes are correctly added to Extras menu after completing quests in World 3 Level previews now show how many battles the level consists of. Final Boss will show golden smoke after attacking, while in Divine state (the golden smoke still breaks if the final boss is damaged by a Null Pyre or Volatile explosion). Other Comments A very nice review noticed that pressing "back" in the world map behaved in a confusing manner. We've have planned out how…
- Full Release Date: March 1st! - 22 February 2025
Hi everyone! We're finally ready. This little puzzle/strategy, OVA-like experience is ready to leave Early Access. The full release will include the final chapter, with a set of new levels, a powerful boss, new enemies, and some obtuse new mechanics (You're gonna love them!). Finally, every enemy will finally be animated. And as noticed, the price will increase from $6.99 to $14.99. So, you know, buy it now and save a lot. We're so glad for all the support our players have shown us in Early Access. Your feedback and time have been incredible, and the game is so much better for it. To commemorate the release, we made this release trailer/overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JL53nknSUM8
- PATCH 5 - The Danes are all here! - 25 August 2024
Danish t ranslation for early access is done. Finally got there. Enemy moves and status effects aren't translated yet, but all the dialogue for the Early Access portion of the game are finally translated into Danish, and what's more, it's enabled us to easily add translations for other languages. Note: if you a language besides English or Danish, and would like to help us provide a translation, we'd really appreciate it. Counter for Cosmewts These little rascals didn't feel quite special enough, so now, instead of just being idle, they have counter stance. Careful! They'll counter anything. World 3 Quest This one didn't feel quite right yet, but we changed it a little bit, and now I believe it's settled. Makes you think for a few seconds. Final chapter is close to done. Has a bunch of new mechanics We've worked a bunch on the final chapter. It's almost starting to feel like DLC, with al…
- Quick Little Patch (QLP!) - 11 July 2024
Just a quick little patch. - Objectives and other such information once again displays the "target information". "Use douse", "Kill 5 Mother" etc. A bug cause it to all just read "Use nil", "Kill 5 nil" and such. - The word Searing Ice is removed. The item "Agony Glass" was the new name for Searing Ice, but we forgot to change it everywhere.
- Patch 4 - 'Cordial Ownership!" - 5 July 2024
This isn't a big content update, but the changes included are just so dang delightful, that there isn't really a reason to wait. Animated backgrounds in story scenes It looks great, though it's a subtle difference. I promise, for the upcoming 4th stage, it'll be important. Game autosaves when ending combat and story scenes We've never been too explicit about how saving works in the game, but this one is super important, especially after we saw the streamer Alliiebug crash on stream and having to start all over. When folding, cursor stays on Arcana that is folded. A few players might have been confused why their cursor got catapulted to the other end of the inventory. No more! Language can be changed with F3 at all times Not sure how many of you constantly switch between Danish and English while playing, but now it's easier than ever. Scrolling inventory Was technically part of the previ…
- Little patch! - 29 June 2024
Hi, everyone! Recent work has mostly been on the content for after early access, but we just implemented a feature long-sought-after: If your inventory grows beyond 16 items, it will now scroll if your cursor moves far enough to the side. Oh and we also updated demo to take advantage of all the many updates from the last few months. The demo hasn't had a lot of testing recently, so please provide some feedback if you enjoy it, but are experiencing some bugs.
- Update 3 - Part 1 "The Danish Are Almost here!" - 10 June 2024
Update 3 was supposed to be new visual elements, but as that is taking a bit more time than planned, we chose to focus on something we manage until then. This update brings the second world, known as "9:30 p.m." to the Danish translation. It also has translations for every lore piece, including those found in the third world ("3 a.m.") which generally not translated yet otherwise (besides the openings before its optional fights (they are optional people!) If you happen to know Danish, definitely give it a chance. Video games are rarely translated into Danish, so this provides a unique experience.
- Quick patch -> reset button! - 29 May 2024
Just a quick patch. If your game crashes when you go to the 'Extras' menu, we've added a solution: A button that deletes corrupted entries. We've been making changes to enable translations in the game. This has caused some problems, and the hacky solution we are adding, is a reset button in the Options menu. Right now it just deletes the additional lore entries you might have collected, because they were from the previous system. Sorry for the inconvenience!
- Patch 2: Accelerated Catastrophe - 9 May 2024
Hi again everyone! We're finally releasing patch 2, "Accelerated Catastrophe". It has quite a lot more than we expected, so let's get to it: CONTENT An overhaul to world 2. No longer as open as before, we added a couple of chain levels to it as well A bigger variety of goals to accomplish as well Overhaul to world 3. All quests are now mandatory, but will all result in optional fights with rewards instead. Which means: three now levels for world 3, where you get to try out the "Advance" spell and the "Collapse" spell. Since this is Early Access, a warning, the Advance spell is fickle and might crash the game. We are working on it. A general ID system has been implemented behind the scene for all of Lumi's moves and levels. We still need to finish it up, but this will definitely help with future translations. CHANGES Searing Ice is now called Agony Glass. Fragile state is now Glass state…
- EARLY ACCESS RELEASE + PATCH 1 ("Stupid Premonitions") - 13 April 2024
Hi everyone! We released this game into Early Access and then promptly fell asleep from exhaustion. When we woke there was so much stuff to think about. A bunch of people bought the game and we are so grateful for that. And with players comes bugs, improvements and new content. First, a look at the updates: New UI to indicate blocked Null Pyres. A bunch of players misunderstood this mechanic. Hopefully this makes it clearer. The Advance move (few players probably acquired this) now shows its cursor when selecting a target. A bunch of spelling errors were corrected. The secret level now has a secret reward (Shhhhhhh!) A second secret level has been added (With another secret reward (SHHHHHH!) "Sol Strike" is now "Overslap" and indicates the Solar is damaged as well Windball has been removed and generally been replaced by Baneboon or other moves. Baneboon will be more useful now. If it dr…
- ANNOUNCING EARLY ACCESS RELEASE DATE! - 19 March 2024
Okay. Here we go. On March 31st, 2024, we will release the Early Access version of The Girl Who Kicked a Rabbit. It will include the tutorial world, and worlds 1 through 3. It will cost 7.00 $/€. WHAT TO EXPECT This will give you a big chunk of the full game! The second world is tough, requiring that you really use all the mechanics in the game, including weird spells you haven't seen yet, a bunny demon that can hardly be called an enemy, and a really skull-breakingly tough boss: The Ogre. In the third world you're probably gonna want to relax a little, so priorities change a bit. Still... something awaits at the end. Something... You'll see. RELEASE PLAN During Early Access, we plan to gradually include updates such as Graphical improvements (more animations, new backgrounds, more effects for boss spells) Gradual Danish translation Continuous bug fixes Balancing improvements Particular…
- Post-Next Fest Demo Update - 25 February 2024
Hi everyone, Sketchwhale here, the designer. This Next Fest was just so great. Honestly I couldn't stop myself being glued to the internet, checking for comments, feedback, download stats and new wishlist additions. The initial demo had some unfortunate bugs, but we got them (thanks to you!). And both during and after the event, great feedback rolled in. Comments about gameplay mechanics that were hard to understand, or issues with random elements. We've quickly worked to address some of the issues, and so we're now releasing a POST-NEXT FEST PATCH. Right, right, patch notes: The Player Shield System has a visual overhaul, to show that shields are unique from extra health The rare Solar enemy has a Twin Slap ability. Solar strong attack damage goes from 6 to 5. Almost all Catalysts now have a secondary ability: Aurum heals (like before) Wood now gives 2 shield points Sugar poisons you (…
- Soft-lock Fixed, Crashing Bugs Fixed, Some Balancing Thoughts - 10 February 2024
Thank you for a wonderful Next Fest everyone. It's not over yet, but still worth saying. We've fixed some more issues as noted below, so an update was in order. Tiny update based on player feedback. There was a softlock in a level because volatile enemies that were killed weren't counted towards to goal. Also discovered and fixed a bunch of crashing bugs. Someone was kind enough to point out that the drop rate of necessary items in the final level of the demo could be rather unforgiving and seemed almost random. We test played it a couple of times and found the level to be as intended, but if we keep hearing issues with this, we'll revisit it.
- Crashing Bug Fixed and Coverage Round-up. - 9 February 2024
Steam Next Fest has been really exciting so far. What an incredible number of demos! We've nearly doubled our wishlist count, and that kind of support just fills us with confidence. With the good comes bad, and so a lot of users experienced a crashing bug right in the beginning of the demo We've fixed that now, so please give the demo a try again. And thank you to everyone who have tried the demo, or gave it feedback, it's really appreciated. Like Kamioka on this blog tried it. Please try it again :) https://note.com/trdd/n/n1ce2708ba6aa And this other Japanese player gave it a try and recorded it. That's really great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjjolKQ378o And finally Dave Aubrey on Yard Barker gave it a little preview, which just feels so great to read. https://www.yardbarker.com/video_games/articles/i_played_10_steam_next_fest_rpg_demos/s1_17144_39924033
