- Devlog: For sport - 9 February 2024
As mentioned in the last devlog the release of Decimate Drive is getting closer and closer. So you'll see more posts on what you can expect to be in the game. Like this one! 😁 Killer cars The game will include over ten killer cars. Some of them you might have encountered in the playtest or demo. But a bunch of them will be completely new. The sports car is one of them and its speed make it very different from most of the other cars in the game. Desolate locations The full game will include over twenty different locations. Thanks to the feedback I got on the playtest and demo I've been able to add lots of improvements to the levels. Things like making it less likely for players to get lost or adding more details to make locations more recognizable. If you're into game design then you might be interested in the short post I wrote over on Discord (it's in the #sneak-peek channel). I go in…
- Devlog: Out of the shadows - 3 February 2024
This weeks devlog of Decimate Drive, a game set in a killer car infested city, is about the upcoming release and some late additions. Release? At the moment I'm busy with the last couple of bugs, some late additions and offline playtests. This is going pretty well so... if everything goes according to plan... the game will be released in February or March. Late additions One of the late additions are battery pickups. They increase the range of the flashlight for a little while. They're totally optional so you won't be searching for batteries all the time with multiple cars chasing you... because I somehow think that would be more frustrating than fun 😄 There are a bunch of additions like the batteries which weren't in the playtest or demo. So it'll be really interesting to see how they'll play out! If you're tracking the development of the game I can imagine the last month or so were a…
- Quick progress update - 26 November 2023
This weeks update of Decimate Drive, a game set in a killer car infested city, is about the release plans and latest progress. The plan If all goes well, the full release (including a complete story, new game + and a wide range of levels and enemies) of Decimate Drive will be early 2024. At first I had an Early Access release in mind. Because completing the story and adding additional gameplay elements took less time than expected, I have decided to skip it and go straight to a full release. Despite skipping Early Access, I expect to add more stuff to the game after its release. It's a project I work on in my spare time though. So I don't really know how much time I'll have and what I can pull off. Hopefully things like other story lines, different settings etc. But no promises! Finishing touches I'm currently finishing up the last couple of levels, completing the story and, most import…
- Speed Run Competition Update - 3 November 2023
We're doing a fun friendly speed run competition over on the Decimate Drive Discord server. Complete the demo as fast as you can and if you're fast enough you'll be able to name on of the streets in the game. Check out #speed-run-competition on Discord for rules and more. Even if speed runs are not you're thing it's still worth checking out Discord. I regularly post sneak peeks of the game. From new gameplay features to new vehicles like the much-requested snow plow. 🕹️ Wishlist the game on Steam. 🏪 Join the community on Discord. 📼 Watch trailers, shorts & let's plays on YouTube. 🗞️ Follow me on Twitter or Instagram for news and #screenshotsaturday.
- Quick demo update - 25 October 2023
A small update was just released for the demo to reduce the difficulty a little. Things like slightly faster player movement, cars are slower to recover after crashing etc. If you tried the demo, but thought the difficulty was a bit much, then definitely give it another shot! If you thought the demo was a walk in the park then don't forget to try New Game Plus mode 😁 And of course, happy Halloween! 🕹️ Wishlist the game on Steam. 🏪 Join the community on Discord. 📼 Watch trailers, shorts & let's plays on YouTube. 🗞️ Follow me on Twitter or Instagram for news and #screenshotsaturday.
- Decimate Drive demo available - 21 October 2023
New demo available Get an idea of what Decimate Drive is all about by trying out the new demo. It contains gameplay and a bit of story. The biggest additions since the last playtest update (more on that below) are the new game plus mode and collectibles. End of playtest The release of the demo also marks the end of the ongoing playtest (on Steam). Thanks again to those who joined the playtest and gave their feedback. It helped me greatly in figuring out what to work on. To give you an idea what changed since the start of the playtest: Balancing and a difficulty option Improved lighting and a gamma slider Smoother movement and a look-back-feature Lots of bug fixes Even if you joined the playtest you can still find plenty of new stuff in the demo. So be sure to check it out! On to Early Access The release of the demo is a small detour along the road to an Early Access release. Since Decim…
- Devlog: New wheels - 30 September 2023
This weeks devlog of Decimate Drive is about the levels and cars I've been working on (which you can check out in the latest playtest update). Want to try out Decimate Drive? Join Discord to find out how to start playtesting. Go to the #playtest channel after joining Discord for more info. Levels up At the moment I'm spending most time on new levels and extending existing levels. Each level comes with it's own unique location and gameplay style. One of the latest additions is a level based on a typical American suburb. With its open streets it offers backyards and alleys which are ideal for taking cover. But cars can also come at you from more direction. Levels which have been included in the playtest have also been extended. Letting you spend more 'quality time' in each location. Out of the fight To add a tactical twist to the game it's now possible to trap cars. Pay attention to your…
