- Update notes for Cosmos 1.3.0 - 11 May 2026
Thank you for playing Artemis Cosmos! Changes for 1.3.0: Science scan code (and some of the GUI) has been rewritten Much network code has been rewritten, and should be more robust The team did a lot of work on sides and colors to increase legibility nebulae got a lot of attention Black holes and planets got a graphical overhaul several crash issues have been fixed many other bug fixes, data cleanups, and minor corrections
- Minor bugfix for 1.2.1; now it's 1.2.2 - 18 September 2025
There was a bug that kept you from resuming a mission after pausing it. This has been fixed in 1.2.2.
- Quick patch to fix helm controls - 12 September 2025
Helm wasn't working correctly; the joystick code was overriding the keyboard and mouse controls. I believe this is fixed now.
- Artemis Cosmos 1.2.0 is released - 11 September 2025
Communications has changed significantly, to streamline the UI, make the contact list more usable, and incorporate a right-click (which is a click-and-hold on touchscreens). Bug fixes specifically to the way joysticks are handled. Made changes to enable even larger maps! Lots of tuning (bases are tougher, black holes are bigger and more dangerous). Many other bug fixes and internal changes to empower scriptors.
- Version 1.0.6 update - 18 April 2025
Thank you for purchasing Artemis Cosmos! We've been continuing to improve it; this new version should have welcome improvements. The font change resulted in multiple formatting problems, which have been fixed The 3d view for fighters and weapons had some crashing and drawing issues The controls for zooming the 2d radar have been changed You can now CTRL-P paste into the client ip type-in box new radar display for ship helm and fighter control For helm, there are new hot keys: "impulse-up" , PAXKEY_B, "increase impulse by 20%")) "impulse-down", PAXKEY_V, "lower impulse by 20%")) Tuned the framerate to make the game work better, and stress the videocard less significant script refactoring behind the scenes several crash issues have been fixed many other bug fixes, data cleanups, and minor corrections
- Update for 1.0.1. Merry Christmas! - 13 December 2024
brand new font rendering code; it should look better Sometimes players would click the main screen controls (lrs, tactical, data) but nothing would happen; that's fixed. Players complained that, when clicking something on the 2d radar view, the "lock" that moves the view to follow the players' ship would disengage; it was too sensitive. I added a slider in the UI Options screen to adjust the sensitivity.
- This is 1.0.0! - 15 November 2024
The stars have aligned. We've been working on this game for years now, and we think it's finally in shape to play. Not everything is perfect, but we have to weigh that against keeping you from the full release. So here we go!
- Artemis Cosmos is now 1.0! - 10 November 2024
Artemis Cosmos 1.0 for Windows PC will be released on November 15, 2024. Artemis Cosmos is a multiplayer cooperative game which lets players assume the roles of officers on the bridge of a spaceship. Your crew consists of the Captain, Science Officer, Communications Officer, Helms Officer, Weapons Officer, and Engineer, along with support pilots for shuttles and fighters. Artemis Cosmos is the sequel to Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator, which has entertained spaceship crews since 2010. Artemis Cosmos is not just an upgrade, but a ground-up rewrite, resulting in a more modern game in every way. The game is currently available on Steam. It will exit Early Access on Nov 15, 2024. The Steam version license is for a single computer; multiple Steam licenses are required to play the game. Just like the previous game, Cosmos will also be available from the website (https://www.artemisspaceshi…
- Version 0.9.27 (the SDCC build) - 5 August 2024
** If player scans a ship which dies while the scan is in progress, the scan can be "locked up", unable to clear or advance **Mission mines don’t hurt us! required a bit of c++ code ** also a change to the script that spawns minefields in the mission ??-Hit chase button on weapons, big crash ** redesigned black hole graphics; scale it with its exclusionRadius, to scale it properly **Fix docking position so ship doesn’t “orbit” the station when it docks **finally fix problem where, if you first choose server, you can't connect as a client properly **use mouse wheel for server mission list **make expanding ring on server and client 2d radars, for explosions (nuke, etc) and ship death **When nuke explodes, show transient ring on 2d radar, showing blast radius, and fizzle transient indicator **When ship blows up, show something on 2d radar ??Monster still not aggressive enough **On siege se…
- Cosmos Update, version 0.9.26 - 8 July 2024
In the past three months, we've been working hard and making many significant changes. Sometimes the bugs and crashes never stop, but we're releasing a stable version (we hope) with many improvements. On Science, we put the scan button back; the auto-scan system we had before was simply inelegant. The science testers were unable to use it smoothly. On Comms, we really wrestled with the GUI layout. There's a 2d radar on Comms now, specifically for ordering friendly ships around. The jump drive is in, and seems to work well. It's currently only available on Ximni player ships. Manual beam control is in, so the weapons officer can hit the buttons and target enemy ship systems. We got fullscreen mode, and DMX lights, working very well. And we added a new and fun little mission, Secret Meeting, to challenge you. Along the way, we've been conquering bugs in every aspect of the code, making th…

- New update to Cosmos! - 4 April 2024
In the past six months, we've been beavering hard and making many significant changes. I actually thought we'd aim for a 1.0 release that had a great deal less content and functionality than we do now. I really didn't plan to put any space monsters or fighters into the game before 1.0. However, the game's new, more universal and flexible approach to player ships meant that after building out the full 3d controls, it wasn't much more work to make player fighters, so they went in. Similarly, the space monster was just a simple (but very configurable) use of some specialized drawing code, and a bit of scripting. Along the way, we've been conquering bugs in every aspect of the code, making the network layer, the 3d graphics, and the GUI all better and prettier. cinematic mode you can nw click on the radar to steer your ship!! Some people want that! major overhaul to comms message waterfall…
- Update! Artemis Cosmos Version 0.9.0 (Early Access Release) - 10 November 2023
We've been hard at work through the end of summer and all of fall, and we're very happy to bring you this latest public release. Because it's the second release of the game into Early Access, virtually every part of the game has been improved. Helm's joystick integration is much more seamless, now. Keyboard, mouse, and joystick control all work together without interference. the 2d radar display that multiple consoles rely on has been changed to show all the new anomalies/pickups properly, and to handle mouse zoom and drag properly. One of the things (on helm) that hasn't changed much is the "easy mode" control scheme, which allows limited y-axis movement. This doesn't mean that 3d movement is impossible or secondary. The 3d movement GUI modes we've been building simply aren't ready for release. However, the future intent is certainly to give experienced helms officers complete 3d freed…
