  • Mass Effect 2 joke BioWare "ending" sees Shepard snog the Illusive Man - 24 November 2022

A Mass Effect 2 ending created as a joke by one BioWare developer sees Commander Shepard shake off the suicide mission to passionately kiss and make up with the villainous Illusive Man, in a total transformation of the RPG game's classic climax that could have really stirred up the plot for Mass Effect 3. • New Mass Effect teaser trailer has Liara in it - 11 December 2020

I can hardly believe my eyes, but BioWare just revealed a teaser trailer for the next Mass Effect at The Game Awards – and Liara was in it. Blue space-wife Liara from the Mass effect trilogy was in the new Mass Effect teaser, exploring a snowy planet and picking up a discarded piece of N7 armour. What does this mean for Mass Effect 5? Will it be set in the Milky Way after all? Is Andromeda done? Who knows! Watch the trailer below and come be excited with me. (more…)

  • More artwork from the next Mass Effect has surfaced - 17 November 2020

Hello and welcome to the corner of the RPS Treehouse where we sit and chant, “ Mass Effect ! Mass Effect! Mass Effect!” to will news about BioWare’s sci-fi series into being. This week, our dark magic has summoned three (3!) new images of some lovely artwork for the next Mass Effect game, which the developers revealed they were working on during their N7 Day celebrations . Oooh but what can we decipher this time? Well, I already said it about the first teaser image , but I reckon these new ones even further suggest that Mass Effect 5 will be a sequel to Andromeda. • Mass Effect modders have been unofficially remastering the trilogy for years - 9 November 2020

It’s been seven years since the original Mass Effect trilogy ended, and even now modders are working on all kinds of additions and improvements to Commander Shepard’s adventures. During the N7 Day celebrations on Saturday, BioWare announced the official Mass Effect remasters , but the modding community also took it as a chance to show some of the unofficial upgrades they’ve been working on over the last year. They made a video to showcase it all – and it even has a cameo from DudeShep himself, Mark Meer. (more…)

  • BioWare are making a new Mass Effect - 7 November 2020

Three years after Mass Effect: Andromeda failed to ignite a new sci-fi RPG saga, developers BioWare today announced they are working on “the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe.” Huh! Sure, everyone expected them to announce remasters of the original trilogy today (because chat about them has been leaking for months) but this was a surprise bonus. BioWare give no hints about the new Mass Effect’s plot, setting, or anything, simply saying they’re in the “early stages” of development. While I imagine it’s yonks away, I’m quite excited. (more…)

  • Mass Effect: Legendary Edition remasters Shephard's stellar trilogy next year - 7 November 2020

Talk about the worst-kept secret in the galaxy. After months of rumbling and speculation, BioWare today announced the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition , bringing all three (quiet, Andromeda ) Mass Effect games into one remastered collection next year. While not full remakes, the Legendary collection spruces up Commander Shephard’s ageing space saga with better visuals, smoother performance, and all the extra DLC packed into the Normandy’s cargo bays. • What if BioWare announced Mass Effect 5 this weekend? - 5 November 2020

N7 Day, or Mass Effect day as you might know it, is right around the corner. This Saturday, a couple of BioWare devs and a load of the original trilogy’s voice cast are holding a “very special” panel to celebrate . Now, there are suspicions and whisperings of what may or may not be said at this panel – it would be baffling if all this fanfare wasn’t to reveal the long-rumoured remasters of Commander Shepard’s adventures. But what if! What if they threw a complete curveball and announced a fifth Mass Effect game? (more…)

  • The release of the rumoured Mass Effect trilogy remaster was scheduled for October but "could start to slip" - 29 August 2020

The highly-anticipated remake of BioWare's celebrated sci-fi trilogy, Mass Effect, was expected to release in October 2020, new sources claim. Now, however, delays thought to be connected to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic might have scuppered publisher EA's plans, pushing the release back, but a source that claims to have intel on the project insists "I know it's real". "Up until, like, this last week, I know the plan for sure was to announce it in early October, release in later in October. So good news," revealed GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb on a recent podcast (thanks, VGC ). "Maybe bad news - it's 2020 - maybe that could start to slip, it sounds like maybe that's a possibility, nothing for sure yet." Read more

  • The Mass Effect trilogy might be getting the remaster it deserves - 7 May 2020

Say those three words and I’m yours forever: Mass Effect remaster. The rumour mill has lit up today following a titbit of news from EA stating that a HD remake or remaster of one of their games is planned to release sometime this year. VentureBeat claim it’s going to be a remaster of the Mass Effect trilogy. Or maybe a remake. The article uses both words which is a little misleading. But, what would we actually want from a Mass Effect remaster? I think it’s an important distinction to make that these games don’t need to be remade. But at the same time, there are plenty of things I would love BioWare to fix. (more…)

  • The Mass Effect trilogy remaster everyone wants is already here - thanks to modders - 23 January 2020

"Stand by for clearance Normandy," bellows Captain David Anderson as the iconic ship approaches Citadel Dock 422. Shortly thereafter the wonder of the galaxy's epicentre hits you like a sledgehammer, its empyrean skyline a majestic marvel among the cosmos. However, there exists a monumental issue that has plagued this cutscene for over a decade: it has aged like a fine wine, if only said wine had its cork removed long before it was shelved. Fortunately, there is a fix. After the divisive denouement of Mass Effect 3 ripped a fissure in the community, a group of fans banded together to rewrite the series' disgruntling culmination. Thus the Mass Effect modding community was born, brewed from a chaotically potent cocktail of discontent and desire for more. "We only have Mass Effect 3 mods because of the terrible endings," Spectre Expansion Mod author Tydeous tells me in a recent interview.…

  • Have You Played Mass Effect 2? - 30 March 2017

  • Blastoff! Mass Effect 2 free on Origin - 6 January 2017

Mass Effect 2 , the game I’d say mmmight be my favourite of BioWare’s fab sci-fi RPG series, is currently free through Origin . Grab it now and it’s yours for keepsies. If you’ve not played a Mass Effect before and are curious now that Mass Effect Andromeda is due in March , here you go! You’ll miss out from not having played the first game–I think a lot of ME2’s best points are built upon the first game or are interesting in juxtaposition–but I’m sure you’ll pick up what’s going on. I see that clever twinkle in your eye. …

  • The RPG Scrollbars: Just Go Along With It, Okay? - 7 March 2016

Spoiler alert, RPGs are kinda ridiculous. Most games are, of course. While the Mythbusters may have shown that carrying Doomguy’s loadout into battle isn’t as bad as it might sound , there’s a reason they’ve never done a follow-up about doing it after taking a few rockets to the face. Likewise, we can’t know the effect of glugging down fifty health potions a day, but it must mean a lot of pauses for the heroic knight to hurriedly get his armour off for a quick pee-break. Like a lot of things, there’s a line here – on one side, things that are interesting to see a game justify, and on the other, things that are probably best handwaved. Where does that line lie? …

  • ME3-ish Combat But No Old Friends In Next Mass Effect - 19 August 2015

I have no flupping idea what to expect from Mass Effect Not-4, aka Andromeda , given all signs point to it being a clean break from the Shepard saga. But the reveal that combat will be similar to Mass Effect 3’s frantic shooty fare does start to make it a solid thing in my brain, rather than an entirely abstract concept with a few twinkly stars in it. …

Price History Overview

USD uses SteamPulse's own locally recorded daily store snapshots, so this overview reflects the exact regional price history that SteamPulse has captured for this currency.

Coverage And Tracking Window

  • Snapshots: 1
  • Coverage: Oct 7, 2026 to Oct 7, 2026
  • Lowest observed: Free
  • Highest observed: Free

Mass Effect 2 (2010 Edition)'s USD price history spans from Oct 7, 2026 to Oct 7, 2026, with 1 recorded snapshot across 1 calendar day. Each row records the available final price, listed base price, and discount metadata for that observation. Within this coverage the lowest recorded price is Free, the highest is Free, and the first visible tracked price is Free. These comparisons apply only to the snapshots SteamPulse holds; missing observations can contain changes that are not represented here.

For USD, SteamPulse uses locally captured regional storefront snapshots and does not reconstruct older prices with exchange-rate conversion. The chart and table show the values recorded for this exact currency from the stated coverage start. Additional snapshots extend that record, but they do not fill unobserved days or prove what the storefront displayed between observations.

Discount Windows And Sale Timing

  • Discount windows: 0
  • Discounted days: 0 days
  • Deepest markdown: No discount tracked
  • Latest sale window: No sale window tracked

Mass Effect 2 (2010 Edition)'s tracked USD rows do not contain a discount window. This means no available snapshot in the stated coverage has usable discount metadata; it does not prove that the game was never discounted. Missing snapshots or archived rows without complete metadata can hide a sale, so SteamPulse does not infer pricing strategy from this absence.

If a later snapshot includes discount metadata, it will appear here with its recorded depth, price, date, and sale name when available. Until then, this section should be read only as a description of the available rows, not as evidence about the publisher's promotion policy.

Observed Price Changes And Stable Runs

  • Observed price drops: 0
  • Observed price rises: 0
  • Longest stable run: 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking
  • Current run: 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking

Outside rows carrying discount metadata, the tracked price has not recorded a separate price rise or drop yet. That means the observed undiscounted level has stayed stable across the snapshots SteamPulse currently holds. This is a statement about the recorded coverage only; it does not prove that an older or missing price change never happened.

The longest unchanged price stretch in the current record lasts 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking at Free, from Oct 7, 2026 through Oct 7, 2026. Among rows without discount metadata, the longest unchanged run lasts 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking at Free. The latest run records Free for 1 day of uninterrupted daily tracking as the same recorded undiscounted price. Run lengths describe consecutive stored observations only and do not establish that a price is permanent.

Latest Snapshot And Sales Context

  • Current price: Free
  • Current list price: Free
  • Distinct observed prices: 1
  • Source mode: SteamPulse local tracking

The latest tracked snapshot records Mass Effect 2 (2010 Edition) at Free in USD, with no active discount metadata. Across the available history SteamPulse has recorded 1 distinct final price in this currency. This supports comparisons with the lowest, highest, and most common values present in the retained record, subject to the stated coverage limits.

The live sales view and Steam sales record provide calendar context for these dates. A date overlap can be compared with a named Steam event, but it does not prove why a publisher changed a price. As new daily rows arrive, this overview recalculates its observed prices, discount windows, and run lengths automatically.
