  Hey y'all! This one's another minor update that optimizes the game further, bringing the file size of the game down to 264 mb! Even the prototype school build file size wasn't this low! There's also a bunch of gameplay changes that spruce up the difficulty and chaos of the story levels! Cowboy allies are more prominent, and enemies in most levels are more dangerous. If you're a coin collector you're going to like what's changed here too!This is the LAST minor update for now. Maybe at some point in the future another update would be made, but for now this feels like a great stopping point!Player changes:- Removed Weapon interface.- Removed XP amount text.- XP bar is now below the health bar.   Hello y'all! This is The Wild Outback version 1.0.8. This is a small update that optimizes the game even further and makes it load even faster! Now the game has a more emphasized retro 3D style!Medium graphics setting removed.A lot of textures and sounds have been compressed and quality levels reduced.The game loads levels much faster all across the board.Total file size of the game has been reduced up to nearly 50%.

  - Updated Reset Progress window to display bigger and easier to read text. - Updated credits in the title screen to display bigger and easier to read text. - Reimplemented Intro 2 scene. After proceeding the very first screen upon launching the game, the intro cutscene will play, and is skippable. - There is a secret menu in the game that displays a list of cheat codes. Keep in mind, typing cheat codes will change your score and freeze it at -999999, you'd have to restart the level to get highscores again. Have fun!

  This is a medium-sized gameplay update that aims to balance the difficulty of the game overall. The beginning of any level can be a little cumbersome more often than not, but these changes will help speed up gameplay progression.   The Wild Outback v1.0.6.2 is now live! This is a minor update that makes the game less frustrating to play through. It also adds some quality of life improvements. Player Changes: - Added XP Bar with levels. - Added UI showing which weapon is currently in use, with clickable buttons. - Healing from Health pickups doubled. - Scaled down Player projectile and enemy health point numbers for consistency.   Hello and Happy New Year! Here’s a small update that fixes a few oversights and increases the quality of the game experience. - All levels now have a quit to title button in the losing screen. - Changed the losing screen's big red text. - Lessened the intensity of rotating texts in the Title and Level Selection screen. - Lowered the frequency of random spooky sounds. - Mission titles no longer rotate. - Moved a couple invisible barriers in the Title screen. - In the Level Selection screen, all buttons will now disappear whenever one of them is pressed. This will prevent the player from pressing multiple level buttons before the loading screen animation, which would cause the game to unnecessarily load multiple levels in sequence. - All "Leave" buttons in levels will now take you to the Title screen instead of the Level Selection screen. • The Wild Outback Christmas 2024 Launch - 25 December 2024

  LONG STORY SHORT This game started as a high school project in the Spring of 2018, with a team of three people. Later down the line, it would be worked on solo. In late 2024, a lot of polishing was done for the project to create the best possible experience. This final product has no intention of earning profit. The purpose of creating this game was to have fun with it, and to attempt at recreating the feeling of how video games used to be back in the day; an homage to a simpler time. BEGINNING OF DEVELOPMENT The game is set in the Wild West, but this game could’ve been set anywhere. As high school devs there’s a limit to what could be used when it comes to 3D assets, but luckily there were a few free Wild West assets in the asset store. The original idea was to create a tower defense game in a futuristic setting, but there were no futuristic assets we could use at the time, so we stuck…
