- Going near full-time, 3000 wishlists, and a release month! - 8 September 2026
Keeping it short and sweet, but I have BIG NEWS!I'm going near full-time to get the game finished!Vitrified just hit 3000 wishlists!April 2027 is when I plan to release.Thank you so damn much to everyone who has ever left a nice comment about Vitrified, played the demo or playtest, or wishlisted. You're all amazing and I'm so grateful to be in this position with the game. We finally hit 3000 wishlists, which means we are well on our way to a successful launch!Going near full-time has been a dream of mine for a long time, and I'm finally in a place where I can drop my hours at my day job and still pay the bills. I will be continuing to work my day job for 2 days a week, and then working on Vitrified for 3 days a week!!! Until now, I have been developing the game on Fridays, as well as in my spare time on evenings and weekends. This should triple the current rate of progress, and because…
- Major Demo Update! - 23 May 2026
Hello all, hope you're all doing really well! Summer has come early here in England so I currently have a fan on full blast 6 inches from my face.I've been working very hard on the game since Dreamhack in March, as the amazing feedback and attention has really buoyed my motivation. Because of this, I've released a big update to the demo on Steam, with almost all of the changes being ones that will effect the full game - not just the demo. These include:Brand new map - only reveals as you explore, has indicators for key locations, has a zoom function, and looks a lot nicer.Dialogue can now be sped up - highly requested so you can spam skip to your hearts content!,The Worms are now far more fair and forgiving to get past - you still need to engage your brain, but for example simply changing direction without running won't instantly trigger them. You can also make a heroic dive to the rock…

- After 4 years, the demo for Vitrified is finally releasing this Saturday! - 20 November 2025
Big news! The demo for Vitrified is finally releasing this Saturday (22nd November)!I've been developing the game for 4 years now and it feels surreal to finally make it to this point. It's gone through redesigns, overhauls and almost getting thrown in the trash, but I'm really proud with the state it's in now. However, I couldn't have got to this point without the lovely people who offered their time to play test my little game. Since releasing the playtest, I've been working through an enormous backlog of bugs, features and redesigns, plus figuring out what bits of the game players really enjoy, and making sure the game has plenty of those. The last two months have been very heavily focussed on improving the overall experience in terms of bug fixing and gameplay clarity, but I've added lots of features that I'm really proud of which have pushed the game closer to my vision of what I wa…
- Keyboard support now live, and thank you play testers! - 14 September 2025
Good morning! Last week I announced the release of the playtest and the response has honestly blown me away. Currently, 593 of you have access, and 157 of you have played it! I was expecting maybe a dozen or so people to be interested in my little game, so those numbers are honestly fantastic.I've also had lots of lovely people join my Discord (https://discord.gg/j3TdUAUuHr) who have left some fantastic feedback and extremely useful bug reports. Thank you to every single one of you who has joined so far. However, I've learnt a harsh lesson, as the biggest piece of feedback was the disappointment in the lack of keyboard support. I stubbornly thought that just because I think it plays much better with a controller, that others shouldn't be able to play with anything else. Looking back, this just reduces the games audience unnecessarily, so this week I have properly implemented keyboard sup…
- Playtest now live! - 6 September 2025
Hello community! It's with massive excitement that I can finally announce that the first playable version of Vitrified is now live! It has been years of work to get to this point, and the thought of real people finally playing my game is truly awesome. If you want to play yourself, simply request to join using the invite on the store page. The only thing to mention is that it is controller only, but you can play on Windows, Mac or Linux (Steam Deck!).Some close friends have already played and I've done an awful lot of testing, so hopefully the game has less bugs than you might expect from a playtest build. However, if you do find a bug, I would massively appreciate if you told me about it on the games Discord: https://discord.gg/j3TdUAUuHrAs well as bugs, I'd love to hear anything and everything you have to say about the game on the Discord, good or bad! I value every piece of feedback,…
- New name, new art and a demo approaches - 26 March 2025
Hello community! It's been a busy but productive few months, and we have lot's to discuss! First, you may be wondering, what on earth is 'Vitrified' and why am I seeing community updates for it? Well, that's because 'Father of AI' has had a name change, but I promise it is still the same game, with the same setting, same story, and same mechanics. 'Vitrified' is just a better fit, is less clunky, and in my opinion, sounds cooler. If you know what vitrification means, and more importantly, what causes it, that may give a clue to a key part of the story ;) Along with a new name, you may notice the snazzy new key art, which depicts the player and ALAN facing down one of the mighty giant sand worms, which have become the poster child of the game. With that brings a host of comparisons to Dune, which I welcome and have enjoyed! The world of Dune is one of my biggest inspirations after all. N…
- Sand worms, survival and Next Fest - 30 September 2024
Hello community! I'm very excited to share that much progress has been made in the past few months. First off, I've conducted a fairly major re-design of the game as a whole. Previously, the plan was for it to be a purely linear adventure, but now it is an open-world survival adventure. The story and core mechanics remain largely the same, but I realised focusing on exploration and survival makes a lot more sense for the game I am trying to make. Plus, the post-apocalyptic wasteland is naturally very conducive to the new survival elements! The story will reveal itself slowly as you explore the world and get closer to escaping the wasteland. Because of this re-design, I've had to re make a fair amount of content, but it's already feeling better and more interesting than ever! One bit of content I'm proud of is the opening scene of the game, which reveals why you find yourself in the midd…
