- Top-Down Trial: Ring Runner Demo - 8 January 2014
I wrote some impressions of Ring Runner’s early stages last year and they were positive, with the caveat that the game took a long time to open up. There’s an incredible amount of content and proceedings gracefully move from rapid-fire shooty-bang action to slow-paced scavenging and ship modification. Originally, the campaign introduced these elements piece by piece, becoming slightly bogged down in a sequence of (admittedly enjoyable) tutorial type stuff. That’s changed now and it’s far easier to reach the game’s succulent centre, which provides all the lunatic top-down space antics you could wish for. An updated demo is now available and I highly recommend it. (more…)

You can also sample the first third for just a dollar! Synopsis: Centuries after The Extinguishing, The Consortium has hunted free Sages to near extinction. There is no more war, only running, hiding, and hoping that The Extinguishers never find you. They have the power to fly through space unfettered by a ship, to break the bonds of every atom in a solar system, and to hurl entire worlds into stars, but few can affect life, for it is threaded by will and refuses their control. Still there are a few stubborn Sages who choose to make biology their domain. Arius is one such Sage. She made the top of The Consortium's most-wanted list during her fifty year pregnancy. She roamed The Rings causing enough cosmic mischief…

New Patch Released! Got a favorite load out? Now you can share it with friends and other Steam users, or browse the list of other pilots’ builds by archetype or hull. Take inspiration from their designs or download the template and build it yourself! Watch this video to learn how. Don’t have the parts? You can buy everything you need right from the selection screen. Once everything is unlocked, you can select the template for use in any mode of play. Couldn’t be much simpler! For more information, please consult our guide. And also in this patch... Find out what killed you with new, detailed defeat messages. You’ll receive a log of all the damage you received along with its sources, including the weapons/abilities and user names. You can even click a weapon’s name to open up an inspection window. Pretty handy!
