Gain control of the whole map to win the campaign! Facti…
- The Maps of Broad Sword Part 2 - 5 March 2025
Greetings commanders! For this update we are taking a look at the siege maps for Broad Sword, but first a bit of housekeeping. Steam Next Fest went well and some of the player feedback focused on improving the visual indicators on when you are damaging your opponent. So to help with this a damage particle effect has been added where each droplet represents 1HP of damage. Some previously silent abilities have also had audio added to them. Also, with the release date coming up quick I'm happy to announce we will be launching on March 21st! So without further delay let's get into the siege maps! Siege Map Pool Coastal Fort One of many forts guarding the coastlines and rivers of the kingdom. The sturdy walls should protect against all but the most determined of attackers. Wizard's Tower High up in the mountains this wizard's tower is used by a magical order to tap into the elemental forces…

- The Magic of Broad Sword - 9 August 2024
Greetings commanders, This development update focuses on how the magic system works in Broad Sword. One of the core mechanics of the game is having groups of units working together and using formation tactics, and the spellcasting system is no different! Magic units are led by a powerful spellcaster or wizard supported by a group of acolytes in order to boost their spellcasting power and cast massive spells that change the battlefield. Today we will focus on two spellcasting units, the Fire Mages and the Undead Spirit Callers. Fire Mages Firemages tap into powerful flame based magic to deal large amounts of damage and cover areas of the battlefield in flames. Their abilities are as follows: Cast Fireball The group channels a massive fireball that flies forward and explodes dealing massive amounts of damage. The spell can be partially cast for shorter cast times at the cost of reduced da…
- Siege Mode Announcement - 17 July 2024
Siege Update To arms commander, the enemy is at our walls! The studio has been hard at work and is proud to introduce the siege update. If you can maintain control of your spawn points without being overrun you win! With this update there are two new castle maps to explore. There has also been a good amount of visual polish added from improved animations and movement, UI additions, and interface fixes. New Gameplay Trailer To celebrate this update I’ve also put together a trailer showcasing the current state of the game including a sneak peak at magic users and an upcoming 3rd game mode: The best way to keep up to date with the development of Broad Sword is to sign up to be part of our play test group, and don't…
- Major revamp Omelet Update - 28 March 2024
In order to make an omelet you need to crack a few eggs. Over the last few months we've made a lot of upgrades to core systems and under the hood features, but since these updates touched a lot of core systems much of the content in the game was broken and needed to be rebuilt. As of today the game is stable enough to share the build, but some features still need tweaking and polish. Here's a summary of the major updates made: Core system refactor - Much of the code has been cleaned up and refined to remove bugs, improve performance and to make it easier to modify going forward. Visual update - This improved performance allowed for graphical improvements while maintaining performance benchmarks. Unit shading is improved, the maps have been revamped to use Unity's terrain system, and dead units ragdoll. Gameplay updates - Unit AI has been differentiated to allow different unit types to h…
