- Patch Notes for July 2, 2024 - 2 July 2024
Finally, the patch you've been waiting for... Mouse Sensitivity is fixed! Meaning, when playing the game with Mouse + Keyboard, you can now move the camera WAY faster than before. NOTES: The camera's movement speed will feel different depending on if you toggle the Look Speed Option while using Keyboard + Mouse or Gamepad. Meaning, "5" while using Gamepad will be a lot slower than "5" while using Mouse + Keyboard. Make sure to update the Look Speed setting while playing with the device you want affected. (The settings get applied when you leave the pause menu.) When playing with Mouse + Keyboard you'll probably want the "Look Acceleration" setting at 9 or 10. Look acceleration is how quickly the camera speed goes from 0 to the Look Speed setting. Higher acceleration makes camera movement very snappy and responsive. This setting is mostly useful for playing with Gamepad. Huge thank you t…
- Patch Notes for May 15, 2024 (Build 1.4) - 16 May 2024
Hey all! Here's Build 1.4! (The "SUPER PERFORMANCE BOOST" build!) This update increases the game's performance across the board by drastically reducing CPU Draw Calls and using some new optimization techniques. The game will now run at a constant 90 FPS on Steam Deck OLED! (99.9% of the time.) I also fixed a few "fringe case" bugs that I stumbled into while updating/testing this new version. Now that the game runs silky-smooth this might be the last update for a while, unless someone reports a new bug. As always, thanks a bunch for the amazing support and all the kind words about the game! Happy Farming!
- Steam Deck Bug & Build 1.4 In Development - 14 May 2024
Hey again! I wanted to let everyone know that another performance patch for "A Night On The Farm" is in the works! This patch (Version 1.4) will greatly improve the game's frame rate and overall CPU performance. Bug Report: While building and testing 1.4, I discovered a bug that only affects the Steam Deck (or possibly any mobile PC device) version of the game. If you're playing the game on PC and toggle off the "Full Screen" Option, when starting the game on Steam Deck after syncing to the cloud, the Steam Deck's screen will be black when you reach the Main Menu. (You'll hear music, but won't see visuals.) To fix this, you have to go back to your PC version, toggle Full Screen "On", and then resume playing on Steam Deck after a cloud sync. Sorry for the inconvenience! This bug will of course be fixed in 1.4. As always, thank you for the continued support! Happy Farming! -- Matt
- Patch Notes for May 3, 2024 (Build 1.3) - 3 May 2024
Hey all! Here's Build 1.3! As you'll see below, this patch updated some "Terrain" settings to improve performance in the Farm area, and fixed an audio bug as well. Details are as follows: Retooled the "Terrain" settings in the Farm area to improve the game's performance. On low-end machines, you might still get some FPS dips while walking from the car to the Farm, but once you get to the Farm things should even out. (I'm getting 60 FPS at the Farm on Steam Deck OLED.) Fixed an audio bug related to choosing "New Game" while inside a "Mind Barrier". That's all for now. Thanks for the amazing support and all the kind words about the game! Happy Farming!
- Patch Notes for February 28, 2024 - 28 February 2024
Hey all! There are a couple of small bug fixes in this patch. Fixed a bug that wouldn't allow the player to choose "Continue" when returning to the Main Menu after the Credits finished. Fixed a UI bug that could potentially cause problems if a player switched back and forth between Keyboard + Mouse and Gamepad controls. That's all! (Spooky!)
- Patch Notes for February 27, 2024 - 28 February 2024
Hey all! I added a couple more Options to the game based on feedback and fixed a small bug as well. New Options Added an Option to toggle the Gameplay UI On or Off. Added an Option to set the Opacity of the Aiming Reticle. (You can set it all the way down to zero if you don't want to see it at all.) Bug Fix Fixed a bug that would prompt the player to interact with certain objects that weren't supposed to be interacted with. (Broken keyboards, for example.)
- Patch (3) Notes for February 22, 2024 - 23 February 2024
Hey all! One more patch for the day. (Third time's the charm!) Bug Fixes Fixed a small visual bug where we'd see the player's POV settling down onto the ground when we loaded into a scene. Refactored code (to prevent a possible bug) related to spawning the player into the correct position in the game world. That's all! (It was a long day.)
- Patch (2) Notes for February 22, 2024 - 22 February 2024
Hey all! This update contains a bug fix and another performance tweak. Bug Fix Fixed a bug where after rolling credits on the game, the Ui would not fade properly to the main menu. Performance Update Tweaked some settings related to Light Maps and Texture Maps, which should boost performance on low-end machines, while not affecting the game's visuals in a negative way. NOTE: This UI fade update caused a (new) tiny bug where now, when we load into a new scene, we can see the player "setting into place". This bug will be fixed in the next update.
- Patch (1) Notes for February 22, 2024 - 22 February 2024
Hey all! This patch contains 1 Bug Fix and 1 Performance Update Bug Fix Fixed an Animation bug that would make the game scene not fade out properly when accessing the cellar doors by the house. NOTE: This bug occurred due to the changes I made in the last update, when I adjusted the Animator on the "Car Fade In". Performance Update The game's Shadow Map Texture has been cut in half. It was 4096, but only on accident. I have halved it to 2048. Because of this, you'll notice the shadows on the fence and house are softer. Doing this retains the game's intended visual style, but should help (at least a little) with performance on low-end machines. That is all! As always, thanks for the support and bringing these issues to my attention!
- Patch Notes for February 21, 2024 - 21 February 2024
Hey everyone! Just a small update today. There haven't been any major bugs reported in a few days, so right now I'm just making some final tweaks to the game. Fading in to the "Car Scene" is now slightly more cinematic. While I was digging around in that code, I fixed a small (imperceivable, even) bug related to loading into that area for the first time. I also updated some code related to "Cursor Lock" when "focused" on the game window versus other OS windows, but that should not change the functionality for Windowed gameplay. (I wanted to mention this one in case anyone feels they're finding bugs they didn't used to.)
- Patch Notes for February 20, 2024 (Build 1.2) - 21 February 2024
Hey all! Here's Build 1.2! As you'll see below, this patch added controller vibration support, and I tweaked a couple of things as well. Controller Vibration added to the game + Options Toggle Tweaked placement of a Keycard. will now creep away on its own, adding to the tension of a certain moment in the game. Other miscellaneous touchups.
- Hot Fix! - 17 February 2024
Rolled out a Hot Fix for an Achievement bug! Fixed a bug that made the "Researcher" Achievement not trigger properly! Sorry for the inconvenience on this one! The "Researcher" Achievement is earned from reading all the computer entries in the game. (You just have to click/open them.) There are 20 in total. If you have a save file towards the end of the game, you can access every computer in that area, and trigger the Achievement, as long as you've read all 20 computer entries. Some insight... Reading the computer entries IS tracked. The information is stored in the game's Save Data as long as you back out of the in-game computer before quitting the game. This way you don't have to read all the in-game computer entries in one playthrough in order to get the Achievement (makes sense, right?!). Therefore, if you're sure you've already read all the entries, the Achievement will ping from wh…
- Patch Notes for February 16, 2024 (Build 1.1) - 16 February 2024
Added and FOV Option. (Field of View can be set from 40 - 60, in increments of 5). Increased "Interaction Distance" on all interactable objects in the game. (You can now select objects from farther away, which should make navigating the game world easier.) Adjusted the animation on the drawer you find the flashlight in. Configured animations on certain objects in the game, so you don't see them initializing when loading into certain scenes. Adjusted the position on a certain game object that points to a certain area (I'm trying to avoid spoilers here), to make it a TINY bit more understandable as to where you're supposed to search. Other miscellaneous touchups.
- Patch Notes for February 14, 2024 - 14 February 2024
- The "Deep Pockets" Achievement will now ping if you have filled the Inventory, even if you have not found ALL of the Strange Toys.
- Getting Started / Useful Tips - 14 February 2024
Hey everyone! I wanted to provide some useful tips for the beginning of the game, in case you're feeling lost. Stop reading if you don't want ANY spoilers. The first place you'll want visit is the garage. Head to the back of the garage and grab the note along with the flashlight, which is in the drawer. Once you have the flashlight you can turn it on/off by (default) pressing "F" on Keyboard / X on Xbox gamepad / Square on PlayStation controller. Read the note! The note will tell you where to go next. When you get inside the house (you'll need a key (read the note!)), be sure to poke around... Ultimately, if you're ever feeling lost in the game, refer to the Notes or Audio Logs-- they'll always point you in the right direction. That's it! Use the force. Use the notes (and listen to the audio logs) and everything should click. (Maybe someday someone will write a guide for the game!) Have…
