- I have some bad news... - 6 April 2025
So, I've decided to indefinitely delay chapter 3. It's safe to consider this a formal cancellation, though I'm not keeping a potential revisitation of chapter 3 off the table if I choose to do that somewhere down the line. This is not a decision I wanted to make, but if you've been following my announcements, you may realize why this is happening. I have already spoken at nauseum about my desire to not work in the Clickteam Engine anymore, and I think that it's flaws may have caught up to me. In a previous post, I discussed how inexplicable issues stopped the cloak from working in the chapter 3 levels. Since then, multiple similar issues have arisen regarding old mechanics (that used to work) that inexplicably stopped working. I have thoroughly investigated each of these and they all seem to be examples of code that works in some levels, but not in others. At this point, I am convinced…
- Chapter 3 Cut Content Situation Explained - 16 March 2025
Hello all. Unfortunately, I have had to recently make the decision to cut a significant piece of content from the upcoming chapter 3 update, meaning that the arsenal will be incomplete. As I've spoken about in the past, I've been itching to move on from this project and work on something different not because I've fallen out of love with Xenoterrestrial, but because I hate the game engine it is built in. In recent testing, an issue has arisen with the Cloak, a mechanic thus far only accessible in the sandbox. The cloak is designed to hide you from enemies for as long as you can go without dashing, taking damage, using the jackhammer, or shooting. Despite the seemingly obvious explanation that it sounds extremely unbalanced (though I'd actually assert that it's balanced due to the way level ranks work), there is a very different issue with the cloak that is preventing me from implementin…
- Xenoterrestrial Chapter 3 Announcement & Price PERMANENTLY Decreased! [12/18/25] - 18 February 2025
Hello all! I'd first like to announce that chapter 3 is officially coming this spring. Details about new content in chapter 3 were already previously revealed in the rampage mode announcement, so go check out that if you're curious for a sneak peek at some of the new features. As previously announced, chapter 3 will be the last major update to the game, after which I will move on to new projects in new engines. I have a lot of interesting ideas for what to do next, and those ideas are different then I may have originally stated, so I can't wait until that time comes. I've also made the decision to permanently reduce the price of the game to $2.99, as I feel it is a more appropriate price. Thanks for reading, I'm excited to get chapter 3 out to you all early this spring!
- Xenoterrestrial ON SALE for the Steam Winter Sale - 19 December 2024
Title pretty much says it all. Xenoterrestrial will be 30% off from 12/19/24 to 1/2/25! This is coming right off the heels of the addition of the endless mode update.
- Xenoterrestrial v3.10 "The Sheriff Patch" [11/17/24] - 17 November 2024
Hello all! This is actually one of the bigger non-content updates this game has ever received, and it involves a number of bug fixes and balance changes related to Rampage Mode. This update also includes a complete overhaul to the sandbox to allow for better weapon mod testing on a greater variety of enemies. Rampage Mode Changes: Added inactive animation for sentry Fixed bug where enemy rockets destroyed grenade explosion Changed orange resupply to activate at wave 15 instead of 20 Added counter in the skills menu to make it easier to see how many WP are left Fix sig figs on counter in the win screen Fixed bug where Sheriff skin held weapons incorrectly. Fixed animation action point for gun on sheriff skin Batteries that respawn each wave now appear in some arenas Fixed a bug where enemy laser glow boundaries would not despawn properly Fixed bug where Shade fan attack can cause project…

- Xenoterrestrial v3.01 [10/27/24] - 27 October 2024
Quick emergency patch to address an issue I created in the last few minutes before uploading the last version while bug testing. The text for the music menu will no longer appear when not open.
- Xenoterrestrial v3.00 Released 10/27/24 - 27 October 2024
This is long awaited endless mode update. This update actually does include a large number of bux fixes, but I'll be honest and say I didn't keep track of them all so I won't list them. See the last post for more info on rampage mode.
- Rampage Mode Announcement - 22 October 2024
Hello all! I'd like to make a formal announcement regarding the upcoming release of rampage moed and the still-unannounced features coming in chapter 3. Note that some of the features originally intended for chapter 3 will be included as a part of this update because I figured it would be more fun and easier to program to include them as a part of rampage mode. They will be explained later in this post. First though, what is rampage mode? Rampage mode is the new arena-based endless mode experience for Xenoterrestrial. It is locked behind a level 10 requirement, but I promise it's a lot of fun (it's easily my favorite part of this game now). Every round, you are sent to a one of 8 different arenas, and a wave of enemies are spawned. The enemy spawns are related to which wave you're on, and the difficulty will ramp up over time. Between rounds, you are sent to a recovery room to resupply…
- Xenoterrestrial Update v2.60 [8/24/24] - 24 August 2024
Larger patch today but not much to show for it. This update is primarily to prepare for the release of endless mode, but it does include some QOL changes. Changes Include: Added new information to the enemies tab in the codex to make it overall more informative. This includes each enemy's health, classification, and which projectiles they have access to. Updated the descriptions for several weapon mods and alts to be more accurate and informative. Rebalanced 2-SAC mode for the sniper to be more viable. It now doubles stored damage before changing phases. Fixed bug where you could use the jackhammer while dashing.
- Xenoterrestrial Version 2.57 [7/19/24] - 19 July 2024
Changelog: Fixed bug where projectile-wall collision particles did not appear for the AR Fixed bug where parrying successfully did not reduce the parry recharge time Renamed Turbo Charge mod to Hypersonic Updated difficulty downgrade menu graphics and text Fixed floor animation in sandbox Added new bars that hover around the player and show the cooldown periods of all gear items
- Xenoterrestrial Update 2.56 [7/7/2024] - 8 July 2024
Another QOL patch today with a few notable changes. Changes include: The game over screen now appears over the out of ammo indicator Complete overhaul of the tutorial with new textures, text, and a new layout Added a glowing animation to floor tiles in the sandbox and tutorial Added new text to the sandbox to show the purpose of different areas Changed transporters in applicable levels so that they can be used more than once per level (especially important in 2-S) Added a new codex entry describing basic ways to earn style points
- Xenoterrestrial Update 2.55 [7/6/24] - 6 July 2024
Larger update today with a few mostly cosmetic changes and one large gameplay change. Changes include: Updated graphics/colors in multiple menus to be more consistent with the games overall intended color scheme and look Added new options menu to the secondary (level) menu with ability to permanently downgrade the difficulty of the active save file. Reworked pitfalls to deal damage and respawn the player on the edge of the pit when they fall in instead of instantly killing them. This does 30-50 damage depending on the difficulty. Updated the codex to reflect some changes made. Added new secret codes and changed old ones.
- Xenoterrestrial 2.54 IGNORE [7/2/2024] - 2 July 2024

- Xenoterrestrial 2.53 IGNORE [7/2/2024] - 2 July 2024
Small change nothing to report.
- Xenoterrestrial Update 2.52 [6/19/24] - 19 June 2024
Small update today with a few QOL changes and slight mechanical tweaks. Changes include: Kinetic Hookpoints now preserve the angle you launched into them with when ejecting you instead of recalculating based on the hookpoint’s center. This should significantly reduce random deaths. A new indicator will appear and make a sound effect when a weapon is either out of ammo or not yet unlocked with appropriate text for both situations Fixed bug where new file prompt did not have the appropriate glow effects Updated credits

- Xenoterrestrial Update 2.22 [3/27/24] - 27 March 2024
Smaller patch today (even if the file size seems larger than usual). This patch is meant to address a number of issues that I found while working on chapter 2 today. As always, most of the file size comes from internal progress on chapter 2. Changes include: Internal Progress on Chapter 2 Fixed inconsistency with codex unlocks Fixed issues with level selection buttons (in relation to secret level) Updated continue button to not appear for chapters higher than one if chapter one is not completed Fixed issue with progress reminder tip not appearing when it should Added new unique environment textures for the sandbox Buffed the Finisher SMG to be more viable by increasing damage 1.5x I figured it's also worth noting that a new, more refined gameplay video is coming soon to the steam page that I think better represents the game. If I had to guess, this video will come out tomorrow.
- Xenoterrestrial Chapter 2 Formal Announcement and Teaser - 19 March 2024
In this announcement, I'd like to tease/announce some of the new content that's coming soon to Xenoterrestrial. Note that much of what is discussed here is ALREADY COMPLETED and just currently inaccessible within the game. NEW LEVELS AND CHAPTER This new chapter, like the previous one, will include 8 new levels (with the 8th being a boss) and one new secret level. At present, only one of these levels is completely configured, but this is one of the only things in this announcement to not already be complete! NEW MUSIC Chapter 2 will contain new music for the main course of levels and a new boss theme from a GUEST COMPOSER! I am very excited to show off the new music when the time comes. NEW ENEMIES Chapter 2 will also contain 5 new enemy types, each of which I'll give a little tease of here. There is also a new boss, but I'm gonna keep that a secret for now. The new enemies include: Com…
