- Rupert's Delivery is new free content for Kiopioke, and it's coming soon! - 5 August 2025
I am proud to announce new free DLC for Kiopioke called Rupert's Delivery. I plan to release it before the end of the summer.Rupert's Delivery is a short adventure where you play as Rupert, an elephant post officer. As Rupert, you must deliver a package to an unknown recipient high in the tower village of Skynest. Armed with a special extendable trunk, you must learn to climb and zip through a new zone called "The City".The album Songbird will also receive an update which will include the new music from the free content.Rupert's Delivery was an idea I had in late June. Development has been smooth and honestly, quite fun. Rupert's mechanic is really satisfying and simple with depth for advanced players. The aim was to make a short, fun, and more accessible experience for players and I think I have succeeded. It is currently in alpha testing to provide some polish. Most of the additions p…
- Celebrating One Year of Kiopioke! - 18 July 2025
Today marks one year since Kiopioke was released and I have some news to share!Since release I have been supporting the game with bug fixes and working on a lot of different game prototypes including Playconomy, Dream Shot, and one other unannounced game.Dream shot is a multiplayer golf game that is inspired by Kirby's Dream Course. You can even build your own courses!Kiopioke kept creeping into my thoughts, though. Recently I had a gameplay idea that I thought could work in Kiopioke, so I began exploring it. For the past few weeks I have been experimenting with the idea and creating the mechanics. - What sets Kiopioke apart from other 2D platformers? - 9 July 2024
It’s the poke and launch mechanic! I got the idea when playing Super Mario Odyssey. In that game, there is an enemy that Mario can possess called Pokio. Pokio has a beak that can poke into walls. Then the player can build tension and launch Pokio. The devs at Nintendo EPD Tokyo made the experience very satisfying, right down to the little chirping noise when holding a lot of tension. Daryl Talks games has a great video detailing the mechanic and character In Mario Odyssey, the developers never linger too long with mechanics. It keeps things fresh, engaging, and exciting but it can leave players wanting more. I wanted more Pokio! So, I decided to make my own game centered around that mechanic. My first attempt/prototype was originally called “Kiopioke” (current called Kiopioke PROTOTYPE on Itch.io). It was in a 3D space and used Unreal Engine’s built in physics to achieve an effective (a…

- Beta testing is upon us! Here are some important comments from playtesters and m - 30 May 2024
The full game is being beta tested and I have been getting awesome feedback from players on what is working and what still isn't. At this point, it is relatively small tweaks but I wanted to touch on a few of the comments from the testers so far. If you are interested in joining the conversation, join the Discord. The game releases on July 18 on Steam and, of course, Itch! ---------- This first comment is relevant to parts of the game not included in the demo. Certain platforms and walls can move and affect player momentum. “The only thing that I really disliked throughout the game was the momentum physics. When you are on a fast moving platform and flick off of it, it gives you a boost. But the boost you get seems completely random, and I find it so annoying when rooms require multiple momentum jumps that feel random.” I really want the gameplay to feel good and not random, so I hated…

Demo V1.06 adds fixes to the settings UI: resolutions and modes should work and save better than previously. Kiopioke will now receive a bandage from Bullet! Some minor character bugs have been fixed as well. The game is getting close to complete. Most levels have been designed and built. The graphics are mostly made. Right now there is music to make and bugs to squash. Steam NextFest (Summer edition) is fast approaching and I am very happy with the demo at the moment. It has reached this point thanks to the players who have been giving their feedback, so I would like to thank everyone that stopped by the Discord and shared their experience with me. I have introduced new control schemes and options and rebalanced levels because of this feedback. The demo (and eventually the game) will be more accessible because of this. In the near future I would like to attempt to get Steam deck certif…

Hello everyone and thanks for playing the demo. I have been gathering feedback from streamers, posters, speedrunners, and viewers and applied some changes and fixes to the demo which I hope will make your experience more enjoyable. If you prefer the old way, don't fret! There is now an option to use the old method: Other changes/fixes: The cat will not stop to talk after the first pass in level 049 (known as the cat level) Level 049 (known as the cat level) has been rebalanced and now has more places to grab on to.
