This is a significant update that adds some fundamental changes and improvements to Robot Trivia Funtime: better player matchmaking, improved controller integration, graphical changes and a reworked camera system. Some extra content has also been added, including new cosmetics and an extra question pack of 50 questions. Join Ongoing Games You can now join other players while a game is in progress! If you host a game, a new setting allows you to keep your quiz open while you play, so that other people can join you. This works for both private and public games, but you can also turn this feature off if you prefer. Likewise, you can now view and join active games from the join menu if they have an open slot. Previously, you could only see and join games before they started. Persistent Lobbies When the quiz is over, the lobby view appears next to the score window, and the game will restart…

Robot Trivia Funtime has just received a major update to version 1.1! This update introduces an overhaul of the interface and a brand new menu. You'll notice some awesome additions such as a panel showing popular question packs in the Workshop, and another area displaying the latest news. This is part of a push to make Robot Trivia Funtime feel and work better with the online Steam features. Robot Trivia Funtime has left the early access programme and moved into normal release. Six months ago we released Robot Trivia Funtime as an early access title. Since then, we've continued adding core content and also released a Linux version and a demo version. It's been a fun process, but it's time to graduate. Releasing Robot Trivia Funtime We feel the early access process has reached its conclusion and that it is time to move forward and continuing developing Robot Trivia Funtime as a full release. - Last Chance to Try Robot Trivia Funtime Demo - 25 October 2024
The demo version of Robot Trivia Funtime is due to conclude, with an aim to retire it in November. We're letting everyone know in advance to give people a chance to download and try it in the meantime. Concluding the Demo The demo version was released in May and intended to promote the Early Access phase of Robot Trivia Funtime and build a dialogue with curious players. We've been excited at the amount of downloads of the demo and some of the videos people have created of it. We're planning to graduate Robot Trivia Funtime from Early Access soon, and want to dedicate our small resources on the full Windows and Linux versions of the game, to make the game the best it can be. - Content Update to Free Demo Version - 23 September 2024
An Update to the Free Demo The free demo of Robot Trivia Funtime has been updated to reflect the features of the latest full version. This means that all of the recent patches and engine upgrades are now in the demo, as well as the added GUI features and even the cosmetic system. To decorate your robot, simply click on them on the main menu. As an added bonus, we've doubled the question packs to now include "Film and TV" and "Music". All of the default question packs are bundled in the full version. The full version also features multiplayer mode, configuring question packs, and Workshop features. Thanks for trying the demo! Some new features and changes There are a few important changes in this update. First, some new GUI features have been added. When you start a new round, you now get to see the order of each player (or bot) so you can work out who is standing at which podium. Similarly, there is now a halo around your character. This makes it easy to identify where your robot is if you are playing without cosmetics. There's also some other neat changes, like an exclamation mark that appears above your robot if you run out of time, and some confetti at the end of the round. Secondly, the game now uses an updated version of Unity. This will help maintain compatibility and security, which is always important. This update introduces cosmetics so you can add a little decoration to your robot! The two main types are hats and chambers, but the groundwork has also been laid for celebration emotes. To customise your robot, simply click on it on the main menu, and you will be taken to the cosmetic screen. Current Cosmetic Items There are 9 hats to get you started, with more on the way. This includes classics like the tophat and cowboy hat, and some interesting pieces, including the traditional chef toque and the subtle bent antenna. I've been using the hard hat myself. The chambers are a unique cosmetic in Robot Trivia Funtime. These are the big columns behind each robot that flash whenever buttons are pressed and answers are revealed. - Robot Trivia Funtime for Linux Now Available - 26 May 2024
We're excited to announce that Robot Trivia Funtime is now available on Linux, bringing cross-platform multiplayer to the game. We're joining the growing number of indies who want to support Linux gaming and understand the importance of offering native support. For simplicity, Robot Trivia Funtime officially supports Ubuntu 24.04. However, unofficially we've found it works on versions as far back as 20.04. With a Linux demo now available, we recommend any crafty users of other distros test it first. Today we've released a demo version of Robot Trivia Funtime, allowing anyone to test the gameplay for free. The demo version includes two trivia packs: games and general knowledge. It also lets you play single-player against any combination of 5 of the bots introduced in a recent update. You can also try out the question editor and save your projects for later. The demo version will be updated with important major features, but won't have all of the recent changes. It's intended as a test so curious players can see where we're at with early access development.
