  • Game State - Fall 2025 - 30 November 2025

Dreadshot Game State - Fall 2025Good day, reader! Thank you for following the game's development. This blog post will be different from all the previous ones, as I've decided to reboot the project. What does a game reboot mean to me?First, what do I mean by reboot? A game reboot is a rework of the core, fundamental aspects of the game in terms of gameplay and technical structure. The story, or more precisely, the main narrative, has not been and will not be affected. This means that most game mechanics will be changed/reimagined/recreated from scratch from a technical standpoint. Why did I decide to reboot the game? The decision to reboot the game was made for several reasons that seem quite important to me.The game's code architecture is incredibly bad. It so happened that Dreadshot was my first truly large project, and when I started working on it, my programming skills (even visual progra…

  • Game State - Summer 2025 - 4 September 2025

Hello everyone! Thank you for following the development of Dreadshot. Visual ChangesBesides that, I did some work on the game's visuals!Namely, I changed the look of the dashes. Here's how it looked before:And here's how it looks now:I also updated the robot death effects. Here's how it looked before:And here's how it looks now:There are also some other visual changes, like effects from bull…

  • Game State - Spring 2025 - 31 May 2025

Hello to everyone who follows Dreadshot! Summer is just around the corner, which means it's time to sum up the results of spring, or more precisely, what happened with the game during the spring period. A lot has happened, but let's take it one step at a time. As usual, let's discuss which of the previously set goals were achieved this season: At least 1 mid-range weapon Add all missing objects to the map editor Music system 1-2 more enemy NPCs, in addition to WMPv1 I crossed out two of the four goals. But the catch is that they are not fully implemented, they are currently only at the concept stage. I crossed them out because coming up with a complete concept is the most difficult part of adding new content, at least for me personally. In addition to the tasks that were set, other work was also done in the game (and outside of it): Kill reload system WMPv1 AI optimization Dynamic camer…

  • Game State - Winter 2025 - 28 February 2025

Hello everyone! Winter is ending, and with it we need to summarize the results of this period. To tell you the truth, I'm surprised how fast the time flew by, because I wrote the fall "Game State" as if it was yesterday. But that's not the point Let's talk about what goals were accomplished this season: At least 1 melee weapon At least 1 mid-range weapon Tidying up the sandbox test location. Adding all missing objects to the map editor Music system 1-2 more enemy NPCs besides WMPv1 . Only 2 goals out of 6 completed. Not enough? I guess. But the work that wasn't listed in the objectives was done. For example: Added some decorative functional objects (interactive buttons, sources of settling, text banners). Added water and the ability to swim in it (still in test mode) Significantly revised mechanics of dash and grapple-hook: they are now more predictable and convenient in real gameplay,…

  • Game State - Fall 2024 - 30 November 2024

Hi everyone!!! Here fall has passed, which means it's time to take stock of this season. Despite my rather heavy workload during this period (I had a session in uni, and also went to work for hire) - Dreadshot still transformed quite well in my opinion. But, let's go in order. Let's remember what the immediate goals were at the time of writing the previous article: Enemy AI At least 1 heavy class weapon At least 1 melee weapon. At least 1 medium weapon Tidying up the sandbox test location. Restore the map editor and add all missing objects to it. Music system 1-2 more enemy NPCs, besides WMPv1 As you can understand, 3/8 of the goals are completed, and that's pretty good considering my workload in real life, and the fact that this season has seen a lot of work done to polish the already existing mechanics and systems in the game. This included fixing about 30-50 bugs, both critical and n…

  • Game State - Summer 2024 - 31 August 2024

Hello everyone! In order to have a closer contact with the audience - it was decided to give news about the game's development and content right here in the Steam community, so that you won't miss anything. Today, as the first post of this kind, I will tell you what is in the game at the moment, what content has been added and/or changed over the summer period, as well as share the nearest plans for the next season. Also, I think it's a good idea to share the exact number of whishlists for the game in each such post. At the moment, the game is on the wishlist of 5546 people! What content is currently available in the closed version of the game? Main Menu Game Settings Sandbox level for testing all mechanics. 1 melee weapon (katana) 2 light class weapons (pistol and revolver) 1 medium weapon (shotgun) 1 almost functional enemy NPC (in development) Speedrun mode Map Editor (temporarily di…
