- Steam Deck Compatibility Update: Playable! - 30 April 2025
ROGUE FLIGHT has been reviewed by Valve and is has been confirmed as Steam Deck playable! (We are close to being deck 'verified' however there were queries regarding the legibility of certain HUD elements, however we believe these actually concern non-essential text layers that are decorative rather than functional in nature.) The latest build no longer requires any additional user changes to the proton version being used or altering the deck performance settings. The most current stable Proton release, 9.0-5, provides optimal performance and stability. As always, many thanks for playing!

- Rogue Flight 1.2.0 Update Now Live in the Beta Channel - 14 November 2024
We’re still thrilled at the response Rogue Flight has gotten from both STG fans and casual players across the board. The next major update includes some important additions and oft-requested improvements to the overall experience, in ways we feel should continue to hone any rough edges left over from the frenzy of development and release. It's given us time to add ███████ ████████████ █████, and ████ ██ which may shed light on the ███████ ████████ ██ █████. What’s new in 1.2.0 > ████ █████████ Has been added. - Update notes for patch 1.1.2 - 5 November 2024
Version 1.1.2 patch migrated from beta channel build Enemy Variants Updated. -Stage 5 and Stage 7+ now include a variant of the 'monoblade' drone with a radial laser. -Stage 7+ now includes a new drone type with a peripheral laser field. -These enemies were in the concept stage but weren't quite ready in time for the initial release, so have fun dodging / destroying them! -The "Borg" enemy types (bipedal mechs) are less bullet-spongey. This should allow players to maintain combos easier. -The damage area around the Stratos boss type thrusters has been decreased to be slightly more forgiving. Tutorial Toggle Added. -Players could already choose to skip the tutorial via the pause menu, however due to popular demand I've added a toggle to disable it completely. -Players must of course complete the tutorial at least once before being able to shut it off. Caravan Mode Added for Level Select.…
- Public Beta Branch Now Live. - 3 November 2024
Hello all! We're excited to announce a publicly available Beta branch for Rogue Flight, to allow users to try out new features before they make their way into the 'official' release channel. This requires opting in through Steam (under the game properties, select beta participation and the beta branch): Builds on this branch will include new features that we want to give a little time to simmer, to ensure proper stability before going into the live channel. For players of the French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Japanese localizations, please be aware that we do utilize temporary machine translation for new features as a placeholder, until our localizers have had time to provide updated strings in the proper format. Okay! So, onto what's included in version 1.1.2 Enemy Variants Updated. -Stage 5 and Stage 7+ now include a variant of the 'monoblade' drone with a radial laser. -Stage 7+…
- How Rogue Flight Saves Work - 31 October 2024
Hey All! As we take in all the impressions from launch, I thought it would be a good time to briefly talk about how the save system works in Rogue Flight. This will be good info to reference later in case you encounter any issues down the road! Rogue Flight utilizes an automatic save system that is fairly instantaneous. It saves upon scene load and scene exit in most cases. RF access the C:\Users\ l\AppData\LocalLow\Truant Pixel, LLC\RogueFlight folder. It's also compatible with steam autocloud. This allows you to go back-and-forth between rigs and / or steam deck, for example. Now, in order to prevent cheating, we use an encryption system that is tied to your unique Steam account. For that reason, if you have multiple users under the SAME windows account, you will need to back up your save and delete the old one before swapping users. if you don't, you'll encounter the corrupted save e…
- Rogue Flight (PS5) Review - 22 October 2024
Rogue Flight’s launch date trailer had me hooked immediately with the VHS scanlines. Those lovingly simulated, telltale signs of age, wear, and tear (and, let’s be honest, bootlegging) of VHS tapes from the ’80s and ’90s are a clear call to action for anime fans of that era. In fact, it’s one of many loaded audiovisual geek references that developer Truant Pixel and publisher Perp Games have lovingly placed into this work. Rogue Flight is a stylized, cel-shaded, arcade-style space combat shooter in the vein of games like StarFox , Galaxy Force II , and SoulStar , as well as anime classics like Gunbuster and Macross (a.k.a. Robotech ). It’s undeniably impressive what this small, Ohio-based studio has accomplished here. Rogue Flight’s plot is as classic as they come. Hundreds of years into the future, ARGUS, an AI once entrusted with maintaining peace and protecting humanity, becomes sent…
- Mouse / Keyboard Support - 21 October 2024
Based on the (unexpected, honestly!) popular demand, we've gone and implemented mouselook and keyboard support. This is now available as an alternative launch option through Steam. The caveat here is that, since controller support is still considered the default option, when selecting the M/KB launch option you will need to disconnect your controller before booting the game. This change was implemented in order to allow folks having a hard time with the traditional controls a wider array of options, and to allow for players that utilize assistive technologies which may hinge upon mouse support to do so unencumbered. We still recommend traditional gamepad controls as the intended way to play the game, however we're happy to offer this alternative to everyone. The feedback to this change has been positive from all the players who were kind enough to test it for us, and as we prep for laun…
- Steam Deck Compatibility - 11 October 2024
Update 04/30/2025: ROGUE FLIGHT has been reviewed by Valve and is has been confirmed as Steam Deck playable! ROGUE FLIGHT has been built from the ground up for the best possible performance on Steam Deck. The latest build no longer requires any additional user changes to the proton version being used or altering the deck performance settings. The most current stable Proton release, 9.0-5, provides optimal performance and stability! For archival purposes, we'll leave our previous recommendations for past system firmware iterations in case users need to rollback to a prior version of the Steam or Proton software. Update 10/11/2024: October Steam Deck Cli…
