- Dumb Bots Update - 22 December 2024
Hi all just a quick update here. The work is still ongoing to get fully working Bots into the game for those solo players, I have been working away to try and get a dumbed down version in and working so here it is. Currently bots will fill the match with the remaining of the 10 slots, they are VERY VERY DUMB! Do not expect a lot from them, they will drive around stealing weapons, and chasing you from time to time but they CAN NOT SHOOT yet. YOU CAN SHOOT THEM though, this just gives players a way of levelling up their player without being in an online match and hopefully encourage more playtime for future testing. Please provide me with what you think of the AI so far and let me know suggestions. Thanks Rob. Changes: Bots spawn in remaining places Bots try to steal weapons Bots try to ram players Bots can take damage Bots get destroyed in water just like players
- Out Now! - 21 November 2024
Hi all, So I decided to release Autotag in it's current state as I want to get more groups of people playing the game and providing feedback to how the game is. I would like to thank all the people that helped me test the game and I can't wait to hear back from more of you. Thanks Rob.
- Ai Testing & New Car Released! - 4 November 2024
Welcome It's been a few busy weeks with Uni and family but I have managed to create a Ai movement system that also reverses itself out of trouble if it gets stuck so have decided to release it for some testing and get feedback on how the movement of the Ai feels. Of course they also have random appearances to make it more interesting too. (Press I key in playground to spawn AI) New Car! That's right, Dan Rover is now available to play, and you only have to reach level 3 to unlock it :D What's Next? Next up is working on getting the Ai to pickup weapons, aim and shoot at players along with making players able to shoot at the Ai, currently they have collision with the projectiles but no damage is done. Official Change List v0.1.08: Removed Spooky Added Ai cars to playground for testing movements Added Dan Rover car
- Ai Battles Coming & New Car - 16 October 2024
News Update Hello all new players to Autotag, Steam Fest is getting good attention and I hope everyone is enjoying trying my game. That being said as a solo developer progress is so but I am well on my way to getting working AI cars in the game so people can play solo as well as multiplayer as I understand it can be hard to get friends involved and as its only a small game, finding a match isn't an option. Before that though there is something I'd like to preview. New Car Meet Dan Rover, the next update will add this new car to the game that can be unlocked at level 5. AI Cars is hard! So given the game is purely physics based, creating AI bots to battle with is becoming a huge headache once again as there is not a lot of information out there but I have come up with my own intelligence system that should allow for simple but fun AI bots to join in matches. If you want to keep up to dat…

- Model Overhaul For Release - 7 September 2024
Hi all, Thought it was time for a quick update on what's happening with Autotag. What's New? Currently we got approved for release by stream so hopefully soon the game will come into early access for all to find and play for free. Yes the game will be completely free, as a solo dev it's been had enough just getting playtesters nevermind releasing a multiplayer game with zero marketing where people can't find matches. I am only interested in people finding and playing my game so as long as people play I will be happy. I have temporary removed controller support due to some menu issues I have found and to help it get through the Steam approval. For release I am overhauling all the car models, weapons and maps to make the game a little more interesting before release, I have learned a lot in terms of modeling and using blender so It is worth making changes to the game to make it a lot nice…

- Development Log #4 - 23 July 2024
Overview The time has come for another major update log. This one is a game changer! A lot of work has been going into Autotag recently and that is to make it ready to release into early access as free to play! That's right, I just want people to play and enjoy this game now so I feel like free to play is the way this game will become more known amongst friend groups to play together. What's changed? Here is a run down of what's new. Player Levels So players now have a progression system, think WOW but lame! So each kill or tag will increase your level which then increases your ability to unlock new custom colours and cars (more to come). Chat box Yep that's right, there is now a chat box you can use to talk to people in your game. But say a bad word and the server will out you! Multiple map selection I've scrapped the gamemode selection on the create game menu and changed it to a map s…
- Should I Make Autotag F2P? - 21 July 2024
Hi all, It's proving difficult to find willing play testers to play Autotag enough to get feedback and without feedback it's hard to continue development on a multiplayer game. Should I bight the bullet so to speak and release the game as free to play and create a community around it? Let me know what you thing. Rob.
- Development Log '3 - Playtests Live - 18 June 2024
Playtesting Now Live! So to start off this announcement I am opening playtesting for 4 days, Tuesday 18th June - Friday 21st June. Get all your friends to get access and test out this fun little indie game. We have a bug reporting button on the main menu for any bug or issue reporting needed. Development Log #3 Well what's changed? A lot! I managed to finally fix the lag issue on the aim (this could still be depending on latency) so for the most part it is working fine and the game is actually playable. I have added tagging finally, this means when using NOS you can boost into a player to get an instant kill on them which also gives you an additional 50 score, but it's risky to try getting close to other players so can you pull it off? https://twitter.com/i/status/1801798148391628804 List of changes 0.14 - Added wishlist button to main menu - Added Bug reporting to main menu - Removed k…
- Development Log #2 - 19 April 2024
Hi all, Welcome to this months development log, It has been a steady but monumental jump since the last log. So progress has been made to get the first playtests functional and we did it! You can now request access to the playtest but also join us In private tests within the discord. It's not without its flaws though. There was a serious issue with control latency on clients end which makes the game still very unplayable. Currently all focus is going on that fix but I have been getting positive feedback on the game so far so overall its looking good. A few big bugs got fixed such as, Cannon Balls Vanishing Ability to kill a player after death Projectiles vanishing Death screens staying open As well as working on the major aim bug we have a few know issues that I am trying to focus on, Killfeed displays incorrect name Names are not displayed above players (Feature to be added) Issues wit…

- Development Log #1 - 24 February 2024
Welcome Well hello all and thank you so much for all the Wishlist's so far it's great to see an interest in my game. Now I figured as the game gets further in development it's worth updating everyone here on the current progress and plans. So without rambling on too much here is the first Dev Log for Autotag. Progress So the game has been coming along really well with it being well on track for it's first multiplayer playtesting session (If you would like to get involved then please join the discord on the store page). Scope View The first thing that I wanted to get in the game was a big change in how the camera, aiming and shooting is played out. So after getting multiple requests from my testers I raised the camera location above the car, fixed issues where aiming would be locked below the camera view and I also added the ability to switch to a scope style view (no zoom but focus from…
