• Shelf Life 2 Announcement - 27 May 2026

  We promised a big announcement and here it is. Shelf Life 2 is officially in production with a demo coming soon. Taking place after the "canon ending" achievement, you protect Ron Edison from threats stemming from the suspicious death of an influential financier. Now the Target is on the wrong side of the US president, a shadowy all seeing corporation, rogue AI's and much more.We're expanding on everything you liked about Shelf Life, bigger levels, dumber weapons and a contemporary story that might seem very familiar if you're living under the boot heel of the American Empire. • Shelf Life is becoming Free - 27 April 2026

  Hey everyone,I know it’s been a long while since we’ve posted any updates, but we have some big news. Within a weeks time, Shelf Life is going to become permanently free. Once that happens, we’ll be releasing a final patch with major quality of life changes and performance improvements. And that same day we’ll be sharing what’s next for this world. If you have a hankering to play something in the Shelf Life universe until then you can check out Chaos Afloat, a small jam game set in the same universe. For now keep an eye out for updates from us. • Shelf Life Is Now Fully Released - 23 December 2024

  The wait is over! Shelf Life is officially complete! After a whole year of hard work, passion and a few broken computers, Bongwater Productions is proud to launch our first major project! This project was a learning experience for all of us. It all started from a defunct fan remake of Deus Ex, when it fell through we kept in touch and shared our creative projects with each other. Until one day on a whim four of us teamed up for a game jam. We all got on real well, our skills and ideas all complimented each other and we had fun. The next month work started on Shelf Life. • Release Date Announcement - 11 December 2024

  We are proud to finally announce the official release date for Shelf Life! It’s been a long and challenging development journey, but the final hours are upon us. We want to sincerely thank you for your support, feedback and patience throughout the process. We believe the full release will be worth the wait and bring you plenty of entertainment. A special thank you is also due for our playtesters Epic and Vince, your insights have been insanely helpful. It’s been a long year of development, especially for a game that was only supposed to take 6 months to make. • Small update - 19 November 2024

  Although progress has been slow, we want to thank you for your continued support :) We know we said this last time, but THIS is the final update before the game is finally finished, and it includes numerous improvements and fixes across the game as a whole. Baton We thought the buildup in the first few levels was lacklustre, because you are immediately given a gun, killing much suspense and tension. Now instead of getting a gun first thing, you get a baton, which is not only slower than the pistol's melee attack, but does less damage. You now get the gun in the Eggs HQ level. Hopefully this makes the first level more of a challenge. Cables Our art guy found a plugin which lets him create really good looking cables with minimal performance hit, and he kind of went nuts with it. • Early Access Update 2 - 10 September 2024

  Hey everyone, First off we want to apologize for the delay. We've been working hard to get Shelf Life fully released for everyone to enjoy, and we're exited to announce that our second and final major patch is now live! These past 2 months have been a bit rough. One of our devs computers died, leaving is with just 2 Developers. It slowed progress more than we expected, but we've kept pushing through and the game is turning out even better than we had hoped. We can't give a solid release date yet but rest assured it's coming very soon! In the meantime we hope you enjoy the latest patch. • Hotfix - 20 June 2024

  We noticed health occasionally reverted to zero at the start of some levels. Added in footstep sounds and a few other small improvements. Unless our playtesters find some more bugs expect another level in the next Patch.

• Early Access Patch 1 - 14 June 2024

  We've spent the last 2 weeks fixing bugs and adding some improvements to the opening levels. These include: Added body for player in the target suit. Added more NPC's roaming the office. Added Armor for the target suit Added collision to door frames. Added sounds and sparks to servers once power and heating systems are overloaded in Eggs HQ. Added footstep sounds to the player Added interaction sounds. Added Skip intro option Added a link to the teams discord. Added Vsync Updated main menu and settings. NPC's now look at you when talking. Improved cutscenes and level transitions. Streamlined levels Fixed bug where you couldn't enter armor testing room.
