- Skirmish Community Update - 4 December 2025
As the last community update was in July, I thought it would be good to put out a bulletin to explain some of the changes in Skirmish. In July, the focus was on tackling the Sniper problem in pub. For some reason, at some point in FI's history, the Sniper class had become way overtuned, even in USL where teams are limited to 1 Sniper, and we saw the negative league experience that had on FI Season 20 as well as pub. While the class settings for Sniper appear to now be in a good place, there are still some minimaps where, based on the characteristics of those minimaps, Sniper seems to be incompatible, and the exclusion of the class from those minimaps seems to be in the overall best interest of the community. X5 will be hosting a mouse vs keyboard show match next Sunday December 7th in CTF.All players can sign up via the CTF Discord and will be added to a team pending the Captain’s explicit approval. Team cohesion is critical for competition, if you have a history of uber toxicity or league disruption, you won't be involved. Period. Friendly trash-talk is fine, anything beyond that is no-go.Although the event is a 10v10, extra players may assist with spec info and practice/prep, again pending Captain approval. The goal is a competitive match, so playtime is not guaranteed and is not a priority. Zone Updates CTF - Twin Peaks 2016 We made some changes to support CTFDL and brought back Pandora's Element. Features New class swap text and audio notification (cloakers bong). Game play Changes Pandora's Element spawns (1 per, 5 max) mirrored/similar to Tsolvy Crystals spawn locations You can no longer disable players from spectating you. Flag carry timer decreased from 60 seconds to 45 seconds. Sudden Death flag carry timer decreased from 60 seconds to 30 seconds. Sudden Death flag spawn can now appear at more locations; the 3 bridges or 2 midpoint locations in the caves. Here are the tentative tournament parameters (may be subject to change): Max 14 teams of 3 Crown recovery set to - 3 Deaths to lose crown - 5 250 second expiry Amazon, Best Buy, or Steam gift cards to winning team members Award recognition to winning team written on the map Single game No truces Overtime may be initiated if game hasn't reached a conclusion within a reasonable time. Please arrive 15 minutes early to register your teams. Solo registrations are welcome as well; solos will be grouped together. We will begin with a warm-up period and to give time for teams to get situated. The prize pot is $300 shared evenly among the winning team members.
