- After eight years, brutal RPG Salt and Sanctuary just got a lot harder - 2 August 2024
What's the hardest game you've ever played? Ninja Gaiden always used to top the list, but now my mind immediately goes to Dark Souls and the upper difficulties of XCOM 2. Elden Ring has its moments, especially Shadow of the Erdtree, and Dwarf Fortress can definitely catch you out. But don't forget old Salt and Sanctuary . Originally released back in 2016, the soulslike RPG with bags of visual flair may look a little lighter than FromSoft's creations, but if you don't take its 2D combat seriously, it can rip you to pieces. Eight years since it first arrived, Salt and Sanctuary is suddenly a lot harder thanks to a transformative update from developer Ska Studios. Read the rest of the story... A quick follow-up for the Linux version; Windows and macOS were not affected! This update makes a small update to SDL that was added today, to fix Steam Deck OSK support: https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/commit/c4b9f621649d4e2ddb05e7f396e43e2d9e0402cc With this change, the name entry screen should now automatically bring up Steam Deck's built-in keyboard! Aside from the SDL binary, all other files in the installation were untouched. We're hoping that this is the version that will get us a fully Verified rating! Enjoy!
- 1.0.0.9, Linux/macOS Edition - 11 November 2022
Hi everyone! This is just a quick update from the game's Linux porter to bring the 1.0.0.9 update to Linux and macOS - this was important to preserve save compatibility across all three OSes, which is needed to pass Deck Verified cert. As soon as I finish writing this I'll be resubmitting the game to Valve so that we can get Deck support fixed! If you're playing on Deck right now, I strongly recommend forcing SteamLinuxRuntime in Properties > Compatibility > Force Compatibility Tool. Once our Deck status is updated it will likely end up doing this anyway, so better to be early than too late! Thanks to everyone for their continued support!

- Upcoming Public Beta - 25 July 2022
Hello again! We have been hard at work preparing a new patch for you. Patch 1.0.0.9 is coming soon. Bugs are getting squashed and quality of life features are being added, including cloud saves! As a precaution and for testing, the patch will be released as an opt-in beta sometime in late August. When we are confident that the patch is what was intended, it will go live to all of Steam. We will also be preserving the previous patch as it has lasted a while, and many may want to preserve former ‘features’. Through the same process as Steam opt-in betas, you will be allowed to down-patch to 1.0.0.8. Specific core patches in the future may also be preserved this way. Any old patches will be as they were, so they will lack any new features and fixes.

- Ring in the Lunar New Year with Steam s latest sale - 16 February 2018
If you go on Twitter, where every second image is of a dog being cuddled, rated, or dressed up as a Star Wars character, it’s a reasonable assumption that every year is the year of the dog – however Valve, not to mention the ancient Chinese zodiac, are here to tell you that’s not the case. As of today, it legitimately is the year of the dog, which is why Valve’s latest sale is adorned with images of famous game pups including Okami’s Amaterasu, Half-Life 2’s DOG, and I, er, don’t recognise any of the other doggos.
