- June 2026 - Now with Inequalities and Number Lines - 18 June 2026
The June 2026 update brings you a 1 new match mode and expands the hint system.Inequalities This update introduces inequalities ( , =) to the Math modes. Turn on Inequalities in the settings to let your kid practice comparing the size of numbers and familiarizing themselves with the Greater Than, Less Than, and Equal To symbols. Number LinesNumber lines have been added as a hint type. These primarily show up in the Addition and Subtraction rooms when negatives get involved. The hints remind your kid how the positive and negative move up and down the number line when being subtracted or added without completely giving the answer away - like any good hint. Other update and fixes:Some code refactoring to improve performance Math problem optimization easing the development and release of future math modes.Adjusted some rendering settings to make the pixel are more clean.

Minor Bug Fixes to player movement and Maze Generation: Player character no longer jitters while pressing and holding the mouse over it. Player character no longer tries to move while settings is open. Maze Generation better adjusts to fit larger-sized answers on rugs.
- Magic Math Maze - 9 June 2025
Introducing a new way to play: Mazes! Step into the Magic Math Maze and find your way to the solution to dispel the magical maze and earn stars. Finding your way out of the maze earns Maze and Random achievement progress in addition to the type of problem that was solved. Other Updates or minor fixes: Clocks- The Hour hand now moves more accurately. For example, at 4:30, instead of pointing directly at 4, it points between 4 and 5.
- March 2025 - The Counting Time Update - 28 November 2024
The Counting Time Update introduces two new math modes to Runi's Math Castle Counting For beginners just learning their numbers, introducing the "Count" room. Your child will be presented with a set of objects for them to count them select the correct number. The objects are colored to match their character. Analog Clock For kids farther along in their number journey, introducing the Clock room. Upon entering the room, an analog clock’s hours and minutes hands rotate into position for them to practice reading the time. The clock starts with only the hour numbers showing and when a hint is requested, the minutes appear. Color codes help strengthen the association between shorthand to hours and long hand to minutes. - Update Notes for Nov 28, 2024 - 28 November 2024
Hi Ya'll, Here are the changes for this release of Runi's Math Castle: Cleaned up the image for the playing card suites. A countdown timer was added to signal the start of the Dance Party and Spire Jump mini-games. This is to make the transition into playing these timed games less jarring. Settings configuration saving methodology has been updated, causing Settings configuration to revert to default. Scoreboard tracking and Game/Character unlocks are unaffected. These changes allow me to include other math modes in the future without breaking old configuration settings again. Ejnoy!
- Launch Week - 5 August 2024
Hey Ya'll, With the launch of Runi's Math Castle I wanted to share the default controller mappings in as clear of a way as I could think of. Depending on your brand and own controller mappings, your layout may be different, but this at least provides a starting place. Happy gaming!
- Design Talk - 15 June 2024
Hey Ya'll, I wanted to take some time to talk about some of the design decisions that were important to in making this project. I’m not a formally educated educator, nor do I have any formal training in child or gaming psychology, but I have been following the news, and I am a mother myself, so I have made some very conscious choices in how the reward system plays out in Runi’s Math Castle. Unlockables - First is the choice to have bonus content (skins and mini-games) be purchasable instead of randomly rewarded. Given the connection between loot-boxes and gambling addictions, I decided against any kind of random reward system. Also, letting the player choose what to unlock with the rewards increases agency. Math Questions - Every math question is structured with 5 possible answers. The starting reward value is 3 stars. Each wrong guess reduces the number of stars the correct answer is w…
- Working Away at controler support - 27 May 2024
Hello everyone, I feel good about the progress I've made this past month. Thanks to the talented Silly Little Muse , the Orignal Sound Track is complete. Check out what other great work they've been up to: https://linktr.ee/sillylittlemuse . Wesley Barros has been generating and gathering the sound effects. They are very nearly complete. FInd them over at https://x.com/wbaudio. I knocked out several animations this past month to the point where I only have two character animations left to finish - I have to decide how unicorns and monkeys dance :) The main game transitioned well to support controllers, but it turns out the settings and mini-games were far from controller ready. Updating Tic-Tac-Toe was a cinch. After a lot of brainstorming and hard work, the Dance Party is also now good to go - I've really enjoyed solving the problems of navigating shifting UIs without the aid of a mous…
- Steam Page For Runi's Math Castle is launched. - 21 April 2024
Hello everyone, Today is such an exciting day for me, being able to launch the Steam page for Runi's Math Castle. This has been a passion project for me for the past several months squeezed in between working full time, going to online collage, being a wife and mother... but with a little passion and a lot of dedication, here I am. There are still a few items that need to be finished before the full game launch in the summer of 2024: - The main technical challenge remaining is testing controller support. Ideally I've already made everything controller compatible, but only testing will tell for certain. - Art wise, I still have some animation for some of the characters to finish and polish up. - Music and sound effects are in development. I hope everyone has a much fun running around the Castle as I had bringing it to life. Ciao ps: please forgive any spelling mistakes. There's a reason…
