- Version 1.9.0 released - 18 July 2026
This update includes a bug fix for emoji support on older versions of Windows. I received a bug report that indicated save data was being written in ANSI encoding instead of UTF-8 encoding. This update removes UTF-8 encoded emojis, and replaces them with shortcode strings for wider compatibility. If you have had issues launching the game, try this version. Email [email protected] or post a message on the discussion board if you experience any issues. 👾
- Fastest leaderboard 🍰💨 - 5 June 2026
Congratulations to the players at Coolmath Games for being the first to record complete games in CAKE and BEEF CAKE mode on the global leaderboards! An additional leaderboard which tracks fastest runs on any difficulty is now available. Getting us started is 🙀 with 51 minutes and 47 seconds. The top spot on the farthest leaderboard is still up for grabs. The first player to beat the game on BUFFALO BEEF CAKE difficulty is entitled to that spot. Here's a tip for any hot shots out there: the BUFFALO BEEF CAKE is faster 🔥 than the other two cakes. Steam players can change their initials and emoji by clicking the name button at the top right of the title screen.

Get as far as you can in the quest before time runs out, and your score will be the distance 🎽 you ran. Coins and checkpoints add time to the clock in arcade mode.Leaderboards are cross-platform! Version 1.4.3 adds a pop up confirmation alert when attempting to start a new quest or arcade run if there is an in-progress game saved. Achievements pop-up at the top of the screen when unlocked. This is in addition to the Steam built-in achievement pop-up. Overall achievement progress can now be viewed on the title screen under the achievements menu! Stats are also displayed on the title screen under their own stats menu. Do you want to know how many fish have killed you? Now you can find out. There is also a much needed upgrade to fonts, both the font itself and the way the text is drawn. Menus, buttons, the scoreboard, and all text should look slightly better, especially when running with a small window size. Thanks for playing Cakefoot in 2024, its first year. Looking forward to 2025! 🥳

Some achievements introduce new challenges to the game like walking backward or walking without letting go of the button, while others are based on logging in for consecutive days or on certain dates. ːsteamsunnyː A full announcement will come next week if this build can be confirmed to be running stably. Another small update in this version is the ability to save fullscreen, bgm and sfx preferences. Version 1.2 introduces a lot of automated tests to the build system to help prevent crashes - but since this is still a large update with a lot of changes to the game engine, there is a good chance there will be issues such as achievements not triggering. Feedback or bug reports on the discussion board or emailed to [email protected] are much appreciated. Please enjoy, and thank you f…

- Cakefoot officially launches on Steam! - 11 May 2024
Cakefoot is now available to add to your library! Alongside the Steam launch, version 1.1.0 has been released with improvements to the coin system. It is now easy to tell whether the coin has been collected on each level. The coin appears above your head after you grab it. It remains there while you are holding it, before it has been added to the bank. Once you reach a checkpoint or the end of a level, the coin is added to the bank. If you don't make it to the safe point, the coin is given back! The bank now appears in the HUD, showing clearly which level coins have been collected during a run. The coin sticking out in the bank indicates which level you are on in the quest and how close you are to the final level.By the way, the coin system is inspired by the strawberries in Celeste. Enjoy Cakefoot on Steam! 🍓
