Commandeer is a colorful top-down sci-fi shooter centered around a unique “commandeer” mechanic that lets you hijack any ship you see. Take over star-fighters, cargo ships, and even entire battle stations. Everything is fair game. Explore a rich world filled with dark humor, absurd characters, and strange environments, all on a mission to take back your family’s stolen ship. Built for short, action-packed sessions with a continually-expanding ecosystem that makes every jump feel different. Take control of Axel, our extraterrestrial axolotl protagonist, and eject out of your ship to take over another with the help of your AI companion and house-key, K-33. Vulnerable while ejecting from your current ship, damage enemy ships to pop their shields and temporarily disable them to make them easier to steal. Work your way up the food chain, capturing bigger and bigger ships. Ships will auto eject when destroyed, providing you an against-the-ropes last chance to carry on the current mission. Select quests from various factions and plans your route before going out into the void. As you discover different ship types, collects data and scrap to escape with by completing the current mission. If you're able to extract with those resources intact, they can be used to purchase new starting ships and upgrade technology trees. New tech can unlock new ships and new functionality for existing ships.
