- Scouts Out just got weirder — and cheaper. - 21 August 2026
Custom Decals - Put Your Own Art on the HelicopterYou can now drop your own images into the game as decals. Slap them on your helicopter, or let them show up right as everything goes wrong (and in Scouts Out, everything goes wrong eventually). However you use it, this run is now yours in a way it wasn't before. This is two updates in one. If you've been playing since launch you're jumping straight from 1.0.2 to 1.2.1, so you're getting the decal system, a visual overhaul, and a difficulty rebalance that changes how a run actually feels.Fly Your Own Colors: Custom DecalsNo config files, no setup. Drop any PNG or JPG into the game's decal folder and it turns up in the menu, named after your file.To find the folder: right-click Scouts Out in your Steam library, then Manage > Browse local files, then open ScoutsOut_Data > StreamingAssets > Mods > DecalsAuto-scaling. A 128px icon and a 4096px…

- Audio Overhaul Update – Version 0.9.36 - 15 April 2026
Just pushed a pretty big audio pass across the game.Weapons should feel a lot clearer now when they change. It’s a small thing, but it makes moment to moment gameplay easier to read.Pickups also got cleaned up. Armor, health, and weapon upgrades now all have their own proper sounds instead of sharing the same generic one, so you can tell what you grabbed without needing to look. There’s also a broader pass on audio across multiple systems. Nothing flashy, just tightening things up so everything feels more consistent and intentional.More polish updates coming soon.\ - 2026-04-14- Added clearer weapon transition audio feedback: - weapon upgrade sound now plays when a new player weapon is applied, - weapon downgrade sound now plays when upgraded weapon ammo is depleted and it fall…

Some areas (yes, those tricky sliders) still need a bit of love, but most menus should now function as intended. Note: In some cases, a mouse may still be required to complete certain actions.👾 EnemiesAdjusted enemy aim to make encounters feel more natural and less “aim-bot” precise.Fixed several issues with explosions not behaving correctly. There’s still a minor discrepancy we’re tracking down.🔫 Player WeaponsReduced overheat buildup for the main weapon to give you a bit more breathing room in combat.🎮 ControlsAdded sensitivity sliders for flight controls, allowing you to fine-tune the feel of your ship to your liking.
- Milestone #2 - 15 October 2025

It's been lacking so we added some basic features to let the player know when they get upgrades and health. We also added some explosions to designate when explosive projectiles have gone off. Rockets! They've been around but a little ugly. We made them a little less....ugly....but they work! More artwork to comeLandmines! Oooooh boy they're ugly. Placeholder art in place, more to come. (the tiny white square)Collisions. Hitting the ground will now cause the player to take damage AND it will reset your level speeds. Menus. We had some strange menu issues.
