• Atmospheric System, World Map & Terrain Progress - 23 July 2024

  Hey everyone, As we get further from the "Umbilical Pre-Release" demo, we've returned to the drawing board on several systems, narrative elements, and other details. As previously mentioned, the demo was pieced together quickly to help promote Thou's album release, largely using assets we had on hand. With more time and flexibility, we can fully explore more ambitious ideas and synthesize them with systems and features from other projects we've been testing out over the past couple of years. We've begun adding more varied terrain to the game, including an open, exploratory wetland environment featuring verdant bottomlands and bayous. We're also implementing a world map to fast travel between locations. • "Umbilical Pre-Release Demo" gone, but progress continues. - 11 June 2024

  Hey everyone, Now that Thou's new album Umbilical is available to purchase through Sacred Bones records, and many have had the opportunity to experience the album via the custom Silenus demo, we've decided to remove the demo from the Steam storefront. However, progress continues! We're experimenting with lots of new environments and gameplay features. The final result will diverge significantly from the Umbilical demo, and we may consider releasing the demo as its own stand-alone experience down the road. Thank you to everyone who has played the demo and reported bugs, feedback, and encouragement via the community forum. It was a big help as well as a significant source of motivation. • Silenus "Umbilical Pre-Release" Demo FAQ - 17 May 2024

  Hello everyone, Below we provide more information about the Silenus demo that will be available from Monday, May 20th until sometime in June. Why is the demo called an "Umbilical Pre-Release" demo? While Silenus itself is an independent project, the demo is a customized standalone experience made in collaboration with the Baton Rouge doom metal band Thou. Thou composed material for our 2022 release NORCO and we decided to extend this collaboration to help draw attention to their upcoming album release Umbilical. In the Umbilical pre-release demo, you can unlock all tracks from the album and listen to them in a music player available from the start menu or pause screen. Since the primary purpose of the demo is to elevate and promote the album, we used systems and environments we've been working on, and added some narrative dressing as a medium for collecting songs.
