I wanted to take a moment to say a massive thank you to the 70 people who picked up the game during the current sale during Indie Live Expo! For a niche project like this it truly means the world to me.Help Others Discover the JourneyIf you’ve had a chance to dive in and play, please consider leaving a short review. As a small developer, reviews are the lifeblood of the game - they help the Steam algorithm show the game to other players who might love these kinds of experiences. Whether it's a few words or a deep dive, your feedback makes a huge difference! The Celebration Continues: 50% OFF & Psychedelic FestivalIf you haven’t jumped in yet, now is the perfect time:50% Discount: The sale is still live (until May 10)!Psychedelic Festival: I’m thrilled to announce that the game is being featured in the Psychedelic Festival starting today! - Now Officially Kebab-Priced - 2 March 2026
I was standing at my local Döner shop here in Berlin the other day, waiting for my order, when it hit me: A Döner (plus a Coke) costs roughly what Tackle for Loss does here in Euro. That felt right for Berlin. But it made me wonder: Is that "Döner-Equity" the same everywhere else?I started chatting with players from all over the world, and it turns out that Valve’s default currency conversion doesn't feel fair in my opinion. I don't want the game to be a luxury investment. So, I’ve manually adjusted the prices to make things more fair:For my players in Turkey and the Middle East: I’ve reduced the price by 36%. It should now cost about the same as a solid chicken kebab, and yeah, I’m talking the luxury version with extra sauce and a coke.In Eastern Europe and CIS countries (like Ukraine or Kazakhstan): Prices are down by 32%.Across Latin America: You’ll see a price drop of about 28%.In Sou…
- The release went so well that I bought myself a Porsche! - 7 February 2026
Small but mighty! 100 people bought Tackle for Loss since release. You can do the math yourself to see that this doesn't justify spending 1.5 years working on the game. BUT I'm still incredibly proud that 100 people put their hard-earned money into my weird little indie game. If you are one of those 100 people: thank you ❤️! If you have time to leave a review on Steam, it would help immensely in getting more people to discover this little game! A side note about reviews: the game already has a lot of reviews from players who got the game for free, and it actually looks like it's been bot-ed/fake. The fact is that these are all beta testers whom I coerced into writing a review under threat of violence. Nevertheless those are real people and (kind of) honest opinions. That's all :) Much love! Daniel

- Devlog Dec 2025 - 19 December 2025
You may have already noticed: the release date is now locked in. On February 5th, 2026, Tackle for Loss and its soundtrack will launch on Steam. At launch there will be a launch discount, and additionally a bundle discount if you buy the game and the soundtrack together. I’ve also prepared a handy graphic that compares the different editions:In the meantime, reviews of the pre-launch version are already coming in – and honestly, it really blows me away. Because they show me one thing: Tackle for Loss is for real. People are digging into the game and (apparently) having some fun with it:“Here comes the part that annoys the purist critics: Tackle for Loss is a lot of fun.”GameHall“I can't deny Tackle for Loss is a lot of fun.”Defunct Games“Fun. Really fun. Tackle for Loss is definitely worth checking out if you like retro games.”Die PixelspielerOf course, there is also criticism – and I’m…
- Devlog - Nov 25 - 28 November 2025
So, what’s going on in the world of Tackle for Loss, you might ask? I’m happy to give an update:We had our prelaunch on November 9th, and it was awesome! Within just three days, Twitch streamers tackled for a total of 130 hours. Shortly after that, we had a booth at Games Ground in Berlin, and the vibes were fantastic. The desktop and Steam Deck station was occupied almost non-stop during the public days. And by now, 15 Steam curators have reviewed the game. You can check it out here (Steam only shows you reviews in your selected language, so you might have to change it): https://store.steampowered.com/curators/curatorsreviewing/?appid=2930270From these events I received so much feedback that several updates have already made it into the current version (v0.5.98):more blooooooood!I’ve removed almost all of the repetitive levelsI reworked the Arcade mode in the postgame – it’s now a spee…
- Live is live! - 10 November 2025
Let's watch some live tackles! Even when live means pre-recorded ːsteamhappyː https://steamcommunity.com/broadcast/watch/76561198201372790
- Pre-Launch is live! - 9 November 2025
Starting today, a select group of the world’s finest streamers and gamers (maybe that's you?) are free to showcase the full version of Tackle for Loss on their channels or just share it with their friends.Make sure your are on the default Steam branch and the title screen shows you are running version 0.5.75. If you find any bugs and glitches (there will be some, I promise!) please send them over so I can fix them for the release version.Does all that mean the game is officially released? Not quite. It’s still being held hostage on my hard drive until it collects a few more wishlists. Steam’s algorithm only starts paying attention once a game hits certain thresholds — and for a solo-developed, self-published niche game like mine, that can be a real hurdle. But hey, let’s go get those wishlists!

This game is still being held hostage on my hard drive until I gather 8,000 wishlists (one of Steam’s magic numbers, the bare minimum for algorithm visibility). If you're a creator/press, contact me for a key. - C.T.E. Awareness Day 2025 - 5 February 2025
Tackle for Loss is brutal, fast, and hopefully fun—but beneath that lies a harsh reality. The main character, a football player in the ‘80s, doesn’t know what’s happening to him. But today, we do. His struggles mirror those of real-life athletes affected by CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy), a condition that was unknown at the time but is all too real now. CTE Awareness Day just passed, but it’s never too late to pause and reflect. If you’ve never heard of CTE, take a few minutes to learn more: CTE Wikipedia. My own deep dive into this topic started with The Ghost in My Brain by Clark Elliott—a book I highly recommend. Take care of your mind, your body, and each other. Stay healthy. 🏈❤️ Daniel
