  • BYTE Out Now! - 6 October 2025

At long last, BYTE is out now for PC and Mac!After working on the game for over three years, I have reached the end of the road with BYTE and have released it. Initially the plan was just to release on PC but in the past month or so I also added support for Macs running on Apple Silicon processors. Mac support has also been added to the demo, so you can check out the first month of BYTE on Macs now as well.To go along with the release, BYTE will be 25% off for the next week, so get it while it's hot!To celebrate BYTE's release, I have myself been thinking about my process with this game over the years and have written up a retrospective of my time with the game. It covers the scattered beginnings of BYTE, all the way back in 2018, my core period of development, from May of 2022 until now, and my analysis of how it turned out and what I want to do in the future. If you want to read about…

  • BYTE Release Date Announcement! - 9 June 2025

Release Date! It’s Steam Next Fest, which means that over here (in my apartment) it’s time to celebrate! The days tick by and my deadline to release BYTE draws closer but luckily I’m right on track. To kick off Steam Next Fest I’m thrilled to announce that the official release date for BYTE will be October 1st, 2025!Believe it or not, I’ve been targeting an October 6th release day for about a year and a half at this point, but development of BYTE is so on track that I decided to move it up a few days so I can start Halloween month with a bang. The first five weeks of BYTE are all that have been publicly available from the game for somewhere in the ballpark of 19 months at this point, so suffice it to say that I am beyond excited to finally show the world the rest of this game.Despite showing everyone these first five weeks, I truly believe that BYTE only gets better as the days roll on, so…

  • BYTE Demo Update! - 6 February 2025

The BYTE Demo just got its first update! As work continues on BYTE, I just pushed a new update to showcase a couple of the recent additions that I have finished up. These are the new things to check out! Cutscenes As part of a push to make BYTE's cutscenes more cinematic and engaging, all major scenes in the game utilize the camera angle system that was previously on display in just a few core scenes. Additionally, the camera system has been built out to allow for more kinds of camera shots as well! For the journal cutscenes, there is now a new "diorama" system that provides 3D artwork instead of just the plain image that was used before. This new system is on display in the scene at the end of July 7th and the final scene in the demo. Exercise Exercise is important for everyone, including realtors! Now in the Solarium is a yoga mat that Jonathan can use to work out. Doing so increases…
