  • B21: Wind Rose - 10 October 2026

The wind rose: what's changed and what's nextCaptains! Let's talk about one of the most-discussed mechanics in the game: the wind rose.In this article, we'll explain why the unique rose was introduced, what changes in Update B21, and how we plan to develop this mechanic going forward. For a shorter version, check out our dedicated video:Wind rose terms and typesFor convenience, we use a few real-world sailing terms, adapted to the conventions of the game:Broad reach: the familiar “green arrow.” The most favorable sector, where the ship reaches its highest speed.Downwind: sailing almost straight before the wind, with the wind coming from astern.No-go zone: the unfavorable headwind sector, where the ship loses a great deal of speed. The standard wind rose is used on square-rigged ships. Its sectors are arranged symmetrically around the direction of the wind. The unique wind rose is used on f…

  • B21: Spyglass Changes - 29 September 2026

Captains, in the next update the spyglass is getting easier to use and more informative. We're reworking the target info panel and making the important details stand out.The name of the ship a target is sailing will now appear next to the player's nickname or the NPS's name. NPS will get a separate marker, and the ship name will be highlighted in blue, which makes it easier to tell apart from the NPS's own name. If the name turns out to be too long, it will be shortened with an ellipsis. The spyglass will also start showing medals, and the elements you already know will be clearer. We're updating the notoriety icon, making the ship rate color more visible, and reworking how protection, trade route and flags are displayed. The info panel itself is changing too: the elements get a new layout and design, and any resources spotted aboard the ship are moved into a block of their own. One more…

  • Ship Elite Status - 22 September 2026

Elite Status: Develop Your Favorite ShipsCaptains! Each of us has a ship we want to play again and again.Maybe it is not the most powerful or the fastest. But at some point, you get used to it, find your own playstyle, and realize that this is the ship you enjoy taking out to sea.Over time, your favorite ship may become less convenient or profitable: repairs can be expensive, the hold may feel too small, and other ships may offer better economic returns. And sooner or later, ship progression reaches its limit — while we all love developing the things we enjoy.Elite Status will allow you to overcome this limit: you will be able to continue developing your favorite ship, making it noticeably more convenient and profitable to use in everyday gameplay. The Main Point: Elite Status Does Not Make Your Ship Stronger in BattleElite Status does not increase a ship's combat characteristics. It doe…

  • Q&A - 17 September 2026

Captains! This time, we decided to slightly change the format of our “Q&A”. Instead of a long list of short answers, we’ll take the most relevant questions one at a time — but in more detail. One of the questions you’ve been asking especially often lately concerns the new damage system and hits to the bow of ships. We've decided to answer them all in this article. Have a nice reding! Why can damage to the bow be higher than damage to the side? This is not a bug - it is intended behavior. It is the result of reworking several interconnected damage mechanics. We’ll go into the details below, but first, here are two important terms:Penetration - a shell’s ability to overcome a ship’s armor. The higher the shell’s penetration compared to the armor at the point of impact, the more damage the shell will deal.Damage - the amount of health a ship loses from a shell hit after its armor is taken int…
