  • Containment Initiative 2 v1.0 Released - 30 July 2025

After a year in Early Access, I'm excited to announce that v1.0 of Containment Initiative 2 is now available! I'd like to thank all of the players that helped shape the game by giving feedback during this period, as well as those who suffered through and reported the many bugs that were found. This update mainly contains a large number of bug fixes and includes quite a few quality of life changes as well. There are still plenty of features that I would like to add, so please stop by the forums or the Discord to let me know what you'd like to see added to the game next.Features/Changes:-PC player will now join the VR player in the main menu when they have selected their weapons/perks-Replaced crafting icons with new versions -Added footsteps for the VR player character(These only play if they are playing solo)-Made some improvements to the way music transitions work(Explore/Fight)-Added a…

  • Containment Initiative 2: Recon is now available for Meta Quest - 11 June 2025

Check it out here!I'm excited to announce that the Meta Quest port of CI2 is now available!Aside from the lack of asymmetric co-op, CI2:Recon is the full experience that can now be played on the go. The graphical fidelity had to be downgraded somewhat and it mostly involves removing real time lights and a lot of the foliage. All in all, I'm very happy with the final result. You'll see from the trailer below, that there weren't many concessions that I had to make in order to get this running on mobile hardware. Thanks for playing!-CIDev

  • Update 2025.5 Released(Supply Drop Improvements, New Achievements + more) - 10 May 2025

Features - New Supply Drop Mechanics - I've made some major changes to the way supply drops work in this update. I've tried to keep most of the challenge intact, but also cut down on the amount of unfair failures due to the crate timer running out and it self destructing. Players will now have much more time before the crate self destructs. To compensate for this change, the crate can now spawn in a variety of locations The crate will now emit an audible beep that will beep faster as the player gets closer to it's location Once the player presses the button on the crate, it will now start a decryption process that takes 30 seconds to complete. The player will need to either defend themselves or avoid the infected while this occurs. After the process completes, the crate will open. Level 1 supply drops now only cost $150(previously they were $300) and will also contain crafting materials…

  • Update 2025.4 is Now Available(Intro changes, polish, and bug fixes) - 1 May 2025

Nothing too glamorous in this update. Just lots of fixes and refinements. Tutorial refinements: Crafting materials can now be found during the post crash intro sequence as well as the GK-40 pistol + ammo that the player can pick up. A fence + gate has been added to prevent the player from getting to the truck immediately. They will need to shoot a lock on the gate to progress. First time setup will now ask if the player would like to play through the weapon reloading tutorial in the shooting range before starting the game Player can now load more than one weapon crate into the truck per run and the game will properly unlock both detected items UI Line renderer will now appear faded out when not pointing at a UI element in the safe house Turned off UI Line renderer in the safe house when player leaves to go on a mission FIxed a collision issue on Tunnel where the PC player could climb on…

  • Hotfix 2025.3.22 - 19 April 2025

-Attempting to address potential crash in intro sequence

  • Update 2025.3 is Now Available(Voice acting, story, + more) - 18 April 2025

For this update, I've completed the games' story and was able to hire two fantastic voice actors who have done amazing work. The game is now much closer to feeling like a complete package. Writing a script and hiring voice actors is a new experience for me, but I couldn't be happier with the end result. Introducing Kay(KD-1): Kay will provide valuable information and guidance to the player throughout the game. I've added a new monitor inside the safe house where she will appear whenever she contacts the player. I hired an artist to create multiple expressions which will change based the voice line being played. Intro Improvements: The intro has been redesigned with new animation, sound, and voiced lines. In this clip, you can hear a preview of some of Kay's lines. Refinements: -Added an animation to the crafting menu when the player crafts an object or upgrade -School map and Subway now…

  • Upcoming Save Wipe and Update News - 10 April 2025

An update on the next update For the past few weeks I've been busy writing a script and was able to hire some very talented voice actors to get the game's story fully fleshed out. I've nearly reached the point where the development work on this update(2025.3) is done. I expect that this latest update will be available in the next one to two weeks, depending on how testing goes. As part of this update, a new radio operator(Kay) will guide the player through the major plot points in the game. Preview Here is a clip of the current work in progress. I want to stress that this isn't final, and Kay's picture is just a placeholder: Save Wipe Due to the nature of these changes, I've implemented an optional save wipe that will detect if you've played prior to this update. You will be presented with an option to wipe your save and start fresh once you download the 2025.3 update. I would strongly…

  • 2025.2 Released(Drones, Boss Encounter, + more) - 20 March 2025

Features New Enemy: Drones Once the player has reached the midpoint of the game and attempted to escape on the subway car, drones will now start appearing in multiple maps and will need to be destroyed to escape the city. They will drop explosives on the player if they get close enough. The subway encounter has been revised to reflect the modification to the story at this point in the game. Containment Operation's drones have been hijacked by an unknown entity and are attacking their own operatives. You will be tasked with destroying the drones in the area so that a transport helicopter is able to assist in your escape. Final Boss Encounter: I've added the final map that player will unlock that includes an autonomous Armored Personnel Carrier that serves as the final boss. I wanted to make sure that CI2 had a good final encounter(Since the original's was a bit underwhelming and didn't f…

  • Hotfix 2025.1.2.1 - 8 March 2025

-Added total headshot count to save data.

  • Minor Update 2025.1.2 - 4 March 2025

-Fixed issue where Revolver could become locked out and the player would be unable to reload it -Added total zombie kill tracker to the main menu near on the supply drop screen -Added total head shot tracker to the main menu near on the supply drop screen

  • 2025.1 is Now Available(Shove ability, ammo drops, level details + more) - 18 January 2025

Features Shove The VR player can now shove zombies with their gun. This uses up around 60 percent of their stamina meter, so it's designed for emergencies. It's perfect for when you need some extra space to reload. I played around with a few different melee solutions and ultimately decided this felt the least janky and allows me to focus more on the gunplay over the long run instead of spending lots of time on an additional fighting method. Ammo drops from Zombies Zombies now have a small chance of dropping ammo when you kill them. This should keep new players in the action longer and keep up the pace in the early game. SWAT zombies have a larger chance at dropping ammo and only they can drop ammo for higher level weapons. Normal zombies will only drop .40, .44, .45, and shotgun shells. The ammo dropped will favor the gun the player is currently using, but they can still drop other rand…

  • Year End Update(2024.10) is now available(New crates, new equipment) - 30 December 2024

Features: Revolver Speed Loader(Craftable upgrade): Players can now craft an upgrade to the RV-44 weapon to make reloading much quicker and easier. Proximity Bombs(PC Player): I've brought back the proximity bombs that were added late in the update cycle for the original game. These are purchasable with cash and the PC player will get 5 every time they go into a mission. New Crate Types: I'm trying to further smooth out progression for certain crafted items and decided that adding two new crates would make a lot of sense. These randomly spawn(About an 80 percent chance of one spawning) and contain anywhere from 5-20 resources(Tech/Weapon Parts). They need to be placed in the truck just like the yellow crates. Fixes -Fixed CT-45 Dual wielding not working -Fixed an issue where the School level selection arrow could stay highlighted -Added additional lighting to house containing Sawed off…

  • Hotfix 2024.9.9 - 10 December 2024

-Fixed an issue where the player could start the incorrect level from the main menu -Fixed a few occlusion issues on School map

  • Update 2024.9 is now Available - 7 December 2024

Features New map: School An additional area to scavenge for supplies has been added to the game. This map is heavy on fabric and tech resources, so come here if you need to unlock new upgrades from the crafting bench. Progression changes The new map has allowed me to shift around how the player progresses through various unlocks. A key item from Market has been moved to this map and there is a new Satellite relay that needs to be powered up in this map. It will unlock L3 supply drops. Previously, players were able to get their hands on the higher end weaponry a bit too fast for my liking. This should serve to smooth out that progression somewhat. Now, powering up the relay in Emerald Creek will only unlock L1 and L2 supply drops. Full release notes -New map(School) -Moved subway keycard from Market to School -Supply drops will only start with L1/L2 available. Additional satellite relay…

  • Update 2024.8(New Revolver + More) - 28 October 2024

Features: -New VR Player Weapon: Revolver. It carries 7 rounds and can kill most zombies in one hit and will also penetrate up to three zombies. You can press B/Y to eject the cylinder and then flick your wrist to close it once you are done inserting new bullets. It's a blast to use and has some really chunky sound effects. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Miscellaneous Changes: -Adjusted lighting in Market to brighten it up somewhat. -Added a new door + puzzle to Market to solve to unlock the Revolver. -Lowered the crafting cost of the car battery to ensure the early game has a quicker pace. Please continue leaving feedback! Also, please consider leaving a Steam review if you have time. Thanks for playing, -CIDev

  • Hotfix 2024.7.3 - 9 October 2024

-Fixed an issue where the player could accidentally turn 180 degrees when using snap turn -Fixed some issues that could occur during weapon selection when using a controller as the PC player

  • Hotfix 2024.7.1 - 8 October 2024

-Controller aiming sensitivity has been increased by 2x

  • Update 2024.7(Controller Support + More zombie variety) - 7 October 2024

Features: -Controller Support has been added to the game -Two additional zombies have been added to the game to increase variation(Each have some skin variations that are random, so total zombie variations should be around 16 now) At this point, I'm happy to report that everything from the September/October portion of the roadmap has been implemented in the game. As you'll see, from here on out, there will be a bigger focus on adding new content in the form of weapons and maps. These updates might be a bit slower to get out there, so just wanted to set expectations before hand of what to expect over the next few months. Right now, I will most likely have a new weapon ready within the next month. Please continue to leave feedback, as I'm constantly keeping an eye out for it. Also, please consider leaving a Steam review if you have time. Thanks for playing, -CIDev

  • PC Player Flashlight hotfix - 26 September 2024

-Fixed flashlight not working for PC player

  • Update 2024.6(New PC weapon, New VR attachment, Reload animation overhaul) - 24 September 2024

Features New PC Player Weapon - AR-762 New PC Player Reload Animations - All of the PC player's FPS view animations have been remade by someone who actually knows what they're doing. Germanban, the developer of the excellent Escape from Mandrillia, found some time to completely overhaul these animations that have bothered me for the longest time. I hope you'll agree that they are a massive improvement: Comparison: More new animations: New Attachment(VR Player) Laser Sight - This can be unlocked via an L2 supply drop Changes to Setting up Co-op Play - This has been a much requested feature. Prior to this update, the VR player had to toggle a button below the map in order to turn on local co-op. Now in the main menu, the PC player can simply press the spacebar to hop right in and start choosing their load out immediately. I was originally going to include controller support(for the PC pla…
